VN - Ren'Py - Light of My Life [Ch. 1-7 v1.0.0] [Naughty Road]

Good timing, good renders, original character designs. Good Game.
The characters don't seems fake like another Daz/Renpy game.
Their look change a lot compared to others game.
The sexy scenes come slowly but nicely done so that we don't lose patience.

5 Stars! (I’d give it 10 if I could)

TLDR; If you want to have several hours of total immersion in a super erotic and emotional story, Just try the damn thing! You’ll be sitting there, after about 10 hours of current content, going to yourself “Holy shit! I just read every damn word and loved it!”

Long version…

Normally, I would do a review by listing the Pros and Cons, followed by a quick summary. But with LoML, I feel that it would be a shame to reduce this game down to a set of bullet points. So I am going to try and write something closer to what they tried to beat into my head during English lit classes in high school, and give a proper “game report”. I’m also trying hard to separate out any spoilers, so as not to ruin the fun for new players.

I was one of those people that, when they looked at the OP of the game, were kind of thrown by the non-standard look of the girls. So I skipped over it for many weeks. But, as I got more familiar with F95 and had tried literally hundreds of other games, I kept coming back to LoML. Why did it have such a high score? It wasn’t artificially boosted… not with over 300 reviewers. So, back in September, I finally tried it and I was blown away!

There is honestly nothing in this game that I feel is a ‘Con’ worth writing about. Even the often-made complaint of the updates being almost a year apart are not a Con for me. Why? Because this game deserves to be ranked up there with many of the novels I read daily. I wait a year, even two, for sequels to my novels, so why should LoML be any different? Not only does the Dev have to write a great story for each chapter, but he also has to render thousands of images and put it all together in a software package. So I just wait patiently and when the update drops, it’s just as fun for me as when my new favourite book appears on Amazon.

The core of LoML are the four main characters. The two parents and their two daughters. And while the mother was killed before the story starts, she remains an integral part of the story throughout the chapters. And what, in my mind, sets this game so far above the others on this site, is that the Dev makes those characters and their story the main focus and leaves the MC job up to you, to play as you see fit. That’s a profound shift away from how most of the game devs do things on here. Usually, a VN is constructed so that you have to follow this rigid logic diagram of choices based on what the dev thinks is correct for ‘their’ MC. Any deviation from this predetermined path results in you locked out of content and/or your game ended. I really hate this approach as, frankly, most Devs write their MC’s as immature creeps, with the intellects of 12 year old boys. I end up having to download a mod or a walkthrough just so I can get to the content I want.

In LoML, however, you are free to play the MC as you want to play him, with very little interference or risk. And, when there is an important fork in the story to decide, you are given ample warning ahead of time. This is so liberating! It allows you to immerse yourself into your character and the story 100%. And don’t think that just because the dev leaves the MC job up to you, that the story is very linear and rigid. Naughtyroad has done a tremendous job fleshing out the thousands of little details and conversation changes that your choices do influence. So, you do have an impact on the story and you get to play the way you feel is right and you see those choices get results.

Let’s talk about the story… OMG! It is intense! I don’t want to spoil any of the major parts, but there is so much emotion in this game that I actually had tears at several points. The dev handles grief and anxiety and guilt with such skill that I have to think they had some experience with this in their past. And because you truly fall in love with these characters, the erotic scenes are that much more intense. It’s not a fap-a-thon by any means, but when you almost cum in your pants over some playful banter between the MC and one of the LI’s, you know that this is good shit!

And finally, throughout this whole awesome story is a thread of humour that makes even the most banal conversations interesting and often hilarious (watch out for that Bear!) I am so envious of the relationship between Denise and Macy. I grew up with an older brother and we didn’t become friends until we were long into our adulthood. As kids, all we did was try and kill each other, lol. These two girls though… just amazing the depth of their love for each other. I literally laughed out loud like a dozen times.

So I have had almost 10 hours of total entertainment (with several “happy endings” ) and now I will put the game down and patiently wait until the next update, while trying not be too disappointed in the other games I play here.

My review of Light of My Life [Ch. 6]

A really good game.
Great graphics.
Good soundtrack.
Very good writing (for the most part).

The reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is the following:
There are 2 main love interests.
I'm mainly interested in Macy (the tall girl) and the game's description states "no need to hold off on any character out of fear of missing out with another".
But to stay on her path you have to pick Denise (the smaller girl) and endure endless amounts of extremely boring repetitive shower massage scenes.
These scenes technically consist of the MC slowly corrupting/molesting Denise, but as a player I feel like I'm the one being molested.
If you don't endure these scenes with Denise you will eventually get locked out of the Macy path, because there's no path written for her specifically yet.
The game also is quite short (about 5 hours) if you skip the painful shower massage scenes.

TLDR: A great game if you're interested in Denise, not so great if you specifically play for Macy.

I hate this game. I hate how the unique and vibrant characters draw you in. I hate how the music invokes feelings.(Damn it. Making me feel feelings.) Most of all I hate how the knowledge of each passing will written scene draws me closer to the end and this gem well end soon. I want more of this kind of Hate. Keep it up. This is not a porn game. Porn games don't invoke feelings like this one does. Story is never feels boring. Pacing is great and dialog is touching and fun. Choices do seem to have an impact on the story. Good replay. We need more well thought out games like this. I hate that I have to wait for the next update.

Great characters, good renders. The updates take a long time, but that is due to the dev creating a lot of high quality content. One of the best VNs you can read on this site. A lot of game devs focus on the lewds alone neglecting character development. But NR writes great characters and understands the importance of caring about the characters to enhance the naughty situations and building up to them.

A great slow burn VN. Great for those looking for a touching and engaging story rather than those after a quick nut. Even for those looking for a quickie there are side characters to provide some relief while your relationship evolves with the main 2.

1) Firstly, I liked the plot in this game. This is what sets games apart from plain porn. Here you are loaded into the world and history. Feeling like a participant in it.
2) Further, of course, incest, that's what I like.
3) The breast of the youngest daughter. She has a form that is rarely found in nature. Unusual female body shapes are what I also love.

This VN is so great. Blows my mind that people complained about the character's looks so much. Personally, I got sick of romancing the same Honey Select models over and over, so they were refreshing to me, dunno about y'all.

The story is a well done slow burn full of both wholesome and seductive moments that kept me interested throughout.

I love the plot, I adore the daughter characters. The writing is great, and the dramatic moments hit so very hard.

I'm interested to see how the respective character routes play out.

naughtyroad has a masterpiece on their hands. Truly.

never played a game like that on this site... a deep feeling erotic novel with so much heart, doubt, passion, love anger and animated feelings which take you in and wont let go.....

I admire "naughtyroad" for what they created and also thank you for pulling some strings in my heart but also somewhere else too!!

The models turned me off from this game for a while, but I am now glad that I passed this one by so many times, because I wouldn't have enjoyed any of the other VN half as much as I did, if I had compared them to this masterpiece. The story grabs you, and the amount of polish would shame many AAA game developers. I'm hopeful that this game will inspire other developers to step up their game.

I was on this very page many a times when I looked for the next VN to play. Sometimes it was the tags that drew me in, sometimes it was on a recommendation list.
But every time I closed the tab and downloaded another game instead.
Reason for that was mainly the models.
Secondly the overview didn't give me too much hope.
My resistance wore thin though and I might have eventually picked it up, in case I wouldn't find anything better...
But then, before that could happen it got recommended to me again in the warmest ways and I was told this should be my thing.
AND IT FUCKING IS!!!

I played it until Denise asks me what I did sexually with Brooke. And I was honest, told her, that her mom/caretaker/my wife/.... used to blow me.
Sexy conversation and I was looking forward to what that would entail.
But I stopped at that moment and restarted from scratch. I wanted to do a pure Macy and Denise run. I didn't care about Brooke and the 3 anymore.

Why is this game so good?
Story: So fucking FUNNY and WHOLESOME. I caught myself laughing and smilying widely SO MANY TIMES. It's just a blast. Reading this made me HAPPY and JOYFUL.
If you ignore some of the naivety it is also extremely realistic of how the story progresses, how things become sexual (considering this is a fantasy) at least much more so than your average story.
Music: Good
Sounds: Good
Renders: Good (some a bit dark but hey.... that's common in games featuring caves and outages).
Models: Yeah..... Those...... I am happy to say that I didn't like them at all. They are the reason I never played this before. Until I played it. They grow on you. EXTREMELY quickly. And now I actually like them a lot. More than several others "better looking ones." So if you don't like them now, don't worry, don't let that hold you back. You might change your mind, just like me. Even if you'd never rate them a 10 out of 10, their characters, personalities, the experiences you make with them, .... all that makes them really endearing. And they seem so much more realistic than many others. And like I said. They grow on you.
They do look good.

All in all this is one of my all time favorite play throughs.
First run I did blind, after restarting I used the walkthrough a little bit for reference in hindsight, after a scene. That was good. I tried the walkthrough mod and it really is bad. You want to play this and choose what you prefer. Only a few choices actually matter. And for those the walkthrough can help. In others it just change whether or not YOU are the agressor or someone else....

I see other reviews and comments saying you don't have too much choices in what actually happens.... and that is true.
BUT it doesn't feel like choices don't have an impact. Mainly because the game plays and feels so different with different paths that you take.... whether or not you are a perv or a goody two shoes....

Try this game. You won't regret it.

I've been following this game for a few releases but it's my first time reviewing it (Chapter 5), it just deserves it. For me, this game is the benchmark for kinetic novels. 5 stars. I'd call it an 'arthouse game'. where many elements are considered and treated with respect.

Story wise: this game takes its time to construct everything. It has a slow pace were everything is built up and justified. For instance, how the visit to the museum in chapter 2 elegantly used art references to provide a moral and philosophical reasoning for future events was brilliant.

Characters: Other than MC being plain (for obvious reasons), Macy and Denise are endearing. They have different personality, background, growing path and react different to situations, but not in a archetypal way. Other characters are introduced for some variety but never take too much time out of the main story and work as a palate cleanser.

Visually: the original art is great, refreshing. The low frame animation works for both comedy purposes during conversations or sexual scenes. I really appreciate how the author make use of some cinematographic tools in different scenes.

Overall, great game, highly recommend.

This was the first AVN I ever played and it was back in November/December I believe... After sifting through a hundred or so AVNs back then I came across a game with different looking "love interests". Everything I saw before was, let's just say, a repetitive trend of "white women". And well I am a ginger (we don't like our own "kind") and I tend to be more attracted to women of different ethnicities like Latinas and/or Asians. This was and is still one of the only games that have characters that look authentically ethnic. Other games have tried to do that but still have a similar look as other character models but with a dash of pigment and frankly, it's just not realistic! This game holds a special place in my heart for just that reason! Yes, this story is great and so are the interactions with the various characters. However, I find the unique and "personally pleasing" look of the character models a wonderful rarity that can't go ignored! Too many AVNs offer recycled models... And Naughty Road's Light of My Life, just isn't one of them.

Good story. I think I'm a 'moderate' when it comes to skipping dialog; I start out reading everything but will start to space-mash if my patience runs out. I think Acting Lessons Being a DIK and LomL are the only games where I haven't space-mashed at all. (In A Knight's Tale, I space-mash constantly.)

It's a slow burn but there are some diversions to keep you going. If you think the girls' models look a bit unusual, I did too, but after half an hour I had fallen in love with them.

The author puts in this warning at the beginning about the slow-burn structure and other design choices, and I thought it was fussy and sanctimonious and off-putting. I'm not defending it, but I urge you to try and look past it.

This is one of my very favorites. Give it a shot.

I have to say the women not being conventionally attractive (by the standards of Visual Novels) is one of the reasons I really like this game. They look like real women, not some platonic ideal of Nordic beauty with F cup knockers. A lot of thought seems to have gone into the art style of the game. I also like what you've done with the animations, being looped might seem cheaping out in another game, but it really works here with the way its slightly stylised.

That and the excellent storytelling. And it being slow burn is a refreshing change. Unless there is an established relationship the MC really shouldn't be in someone's pants within 5 minutes of starting the game, unless he has hooked up on Tinder (or Grindr) or is paying (Come to think or it, discovering he's related to his hook up would be a good story hook).

And all the characters are full of character, and seem alive, obviously Denise, Macy and Brooke, but even the 3 Fates and the diner owners. Lou has more character than your average blank slate and Charlotte is far more than a footnote.

And there's a lot of laugh out loud moments and little jokes tucked in, like the "Chunky Chicas" ice cream.

I bounced off this game at first as the game can be somewhat slow, but then I found myself thinking about it a day or two later, wondering what happened next. So I came back to it and I'm glad I did. Is it slow? Sure but it's developing the characters and their situation and gradually drawing you in so that you understand their motivations and why they're doing what they're doing. It feels very real. Also I'm on team "it's nice to see models in a different style than all the other VNs I've played." I recommend it, and I'm glad I gave it another chance.

I've come across this one so many times and passed over it because the game banner/logo/whatever you want to call it...I was like, dayum, these girls are FUGLY! After reading some posts about the game I decided to give it a go, anyway.

So, back to the fugly sisters...once you get into the game, they don't seem as ugly as the game banner makes them out to be. In fact, their appearance started to grow on me. As others have mentioned, it is kind of nice to see someone break out of the norm as far as character models.

This is also a pretty artsy-ish looking game. It really helps set the mood for various scenes.

The thing that really shines in this game, better than 99% of the VNs I play, is the writing and the story. This is probably one of, if not the most, beautifully written VNs I've ever played. I really felt close to each of the characters and what they're going through. On top of that, the dialogue seemed so natural and flowed very well. With most games that start with a warning about being "slow burn" and "more about the story", you would expect to be hit with non-stop walls of uninteresting text. This VN is not the case at all. Not once did I feel like I was encumbered with never-ending dialogue or inner monologues. In fact, I was pretty caught up in the story itself and enjoyed reading, which is something I can't say about most of the VNs I've played. Also, you are rewarded when it gets to the sexy-time stuff. It's definitely slow burn, but the build-up is actually nice and works well.

There are various kinks/fetishes you can explore and none of them are forced on you, either, so that's really nice for people who aren't into certain things.

My only complaint is the bath scene with the sisters while the family is one vacation. I felt it was a little bit longer than it needed to be, but that's probably just my preferences because I don't really get off on lesbian-only content.

Either way, this is definitely a high-quality game with a rich, interesting, story and I'm looking forward to future updates.

Probably one of if not my favorite Games to date.

The story is immersive, the models are beautiful in how natural and real world realistic they are.

The creator has a great balance of Lewd content to character develpoment that I wish more creators would adopt.

One of the few games where I don't feel cheated with the latest version because I know its going to be fantastic. The longer the wait the better it will be, and the more motivation I have to start the game over again and play it through again so I can re-immerse myself into the story.

That being said I do wish the updates were a little more frequent, but you can't rush a good thing.

This is a very well made game. The presentation is excellent, renders are good. The writing is even better than that, it may be the best writing I've seen in a game on these forums. Especially the girl with the anxiety disorder is well presented during her anxiety episodes.The characters (most of them at least) act somewhat like human beings, and are believable in their actions.

The only minus is that the women in this here porn game are quite ugly, which may impede ones ability to acquire a state of sufficient arousal which is necessary to self actuate the process of exuding bodily fluids with violent bursts

Of all the games I've played in my short time on this site, Light of My Life stands out in the best ways.

1. Story - Like most of us, I came to the site for fap material. I was completely surprised when I started playing LoML and found myself engaged with the story. And surprised again as I played more and went from engaged to compelled. From how realistically and sensitively the topics of personal loss and grief are handled and presented to how the resulting healing process is playing out, LoML is written with an emotional depth that is extremely rare in media in general, much less in "fap material". I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the story plays out, not just waiting for the next round of lewd renders.

2. Character Design - Absolutely unique. This game is a benchmark for how far DAZ assets can be pushed. More time and care was obviously put into the character designs, as opposed to the vast majority of DAZ assets out there that all look and feel pretty same-y. The lack of "bimboification" in this game should be celebrated, and hopefully this will start a trend with new games.

3. Characterization - Unlike most games here that use generic preset poses and facial expressions for their characters, each pose in this game feels very character-specific. Their personalities are clearly evident in every pose and facial expression. The attention to detail is impressive, to say the least.

4. Render Quality - I mean, take a look at the preview images. There are probably a few games on this site that are comparable, but nothing I've seen has surpassed LoML. Absolutely top quality.

In short, this game sets the standard by which I will judge all other games here. Kudos, Naughtyroad!
