Speaking of the disclaimer, does anyone else like to pick the options to get thrown out when trying new games? The first time I usually say I'm not old enough or I can't handle the content just to see what the game does. Often the game just closes but occasionally there's something interesting.

LoML is a tough one because it offers to unlock the gallery if I troll it, and I don't want that. The game also wants me to agree to not give a terrible review if I won't meet the game on its terms.

So I got thrown out several times trying to get through in different ways without complying.

I like that the disclaimer acknowledges if someone has returned after getting booted. It's a surprisingly high effort disclaimer!

(...)The game also wants me to agree to not give a terrible review if I won't meet the game on its terms.(...)
I put that bit in there after I was getting a ton of low reviews from people who weren't actually playing the game complaining on how bad the game was they just finished not playing.

The exact wording, for those that never saw it, is:
"Right. Just don't come find me online to gripe, or post one-star reviews about lack of content in a game that you skipped almost all content of."

To which the player can reply with:
"I won't come to gripe or post bad reviews when I'm actually just skipping to the lewd bits."

To which it replies:
"Thanks, that's something I guess. Although I'm pretty sure you'd probably be happier doing something else, I still hope you enjoy the few bits you don't skip."

It was meant as both a joke and a courtesy, mind you. I have no doubt that LomL is a below average experience if you cut out everything but the bits with nipples out, compared to when you do the exact same thing to some other titles out there, especially to a player who's only interested in the nipples and could care less about any form of story, and I was trying to spare them that experience.

Not that that's ever worked, of course. :ROFLMAO:

There's always someone dropping by complaining on how bad this game is they never actually played, or how poor the writing they never read. And how when they do slow down for some nipples, what they get of the story doesn't really conform to the easy tropes they're used to and thoroughly confuses them, which is of course more evidence on how much of a stinking pile of overrated garbage it truly is.

Of course, I guess I should have seen that coming, people who don't read VNs will not read that disclaimer either. Oh well.

At the end of the game this is a porn game. And just like with porn videos the experience is better if you can fast forward and play at your own pace.

So in Your simple undestanding porn is porn, so let's say as gay You should enjoy lesbian porn because it's still porn, isn't it?
I don't know why people even bother complaining, You can try it without any charge, there are warnings in game and all over this thread it's not simply a porn game, it's heavy story based game with porn, not the other way around, Not to Your liking? Well, go ahead and look for something that may suit You, there's so much choice on this one site alone.

Not only can you beat this game in under an hour, but you can have a lot more fun playing this way and still get the gist of the story. If YOU want to read every sentence go right ahead. Both ways are valid.
Sure, but You're missing out a lot.
Anyway, I see now it is not worth answering You, stay safe and have a good wank elswhere :)

Just adding my two cents here on the whole VN vs porn game thing mentioned earlier since I just saw this in passing:

Usually I'm not one to go for VNs due to the pacing seeming to be too long and without any content, but this game is definitely an exception. I think it's that the writing helps keep things together without going stale or feeling tedious. There are also some occasional teasing bits added in to keep player attention, so that might help also. The only reason someone would likely give a low review would be if this isn't their type of experience or "thing", and I say to each their own. However, you shouldn't one-star it just because of that; at the least, give three stars and openly admit "it just isn't my thing". However, I will say that the ability to skip is still necessary, if only in the sense of this being a visual "novel", and needing to skip parts you've already "read". Anyway, that's just my view on it.

Absolutely agree on that part at least. Whether your preference is to ffwd or to stop and read, the choice on how to play it is yours and the creator should just get out of the way (after maybe suggesting that you're not getting the full experience, so you go in with all the info).

Not only can you beat this game in under an hour, but you can have a lot more fun playing this way and still get the gist of the story. (...)
Wrong on that count though, as you've demonstrated yourself on quite a few occasions you actually didn't get the gist of the story, which is not "old lady dead, sadface while you bang the other poon in the household instead". Doesn't invalidate that it's still fine to play that way, but you sort of forfeit your right to have an opinion on a story if you haven't actually read the story, or at least the right not to look like a bit of a jackass while trying to do so. :)

I guess the use of "beat this game" is kinda telling. I mean, it works in that context, but if you told someone you "beat this novel" on your holiday instead of "I read this novel", that'd just sound weird. And at it's heart, LomL is a visual novel first and game second.

I am sure that no writer out there likes to hear that some people don't consider his work as important as the visuals, gameplay etc.., but there is nothing wrong with playing this or any other game "to get to the good stuff". I found the H scenes with the daughters as hot as anyone else even while only armed with the knowledge that "mom is dead, daughters hot, let's go on a holiday, was that a bear wtf". Reading the text during every dinner and every bathroom event would have made me enjoy the game less.

there's one major problem with playing with ctrl to get to the good stuff
sure you get to some lewdety and the act itself brings you pleasure and whatelse
but when you stop to read and feel the story , of what they are going through , how they got there what they think
that act that you used ctrl to reach faster and see it ,becomes SO MUCH BETTER it doesn't even compare.,...
is like saying freshly made whiskey is the same as 40 yearld old whiskey
EDIT : what I'm trying to say here (but after rereading seems like I might have some issues communicating)
is that the lewd/sex scenes have different impacts , if you just skip with ctrl to see them , they are okay , they are just sex scenes .. but when you stop to read and understand the characters the sex / lewd scenes become so much more , so much better.

I read the text during H scenes and when something interesting happens, but I am not gonna read the text during every single slice of life dinner event. People like you need to understand that the situation is not black and white. If I really refused to read anything ever in my life I wouldn't have cared to even engage in this conversation. I probably wouldn't have played this game.

"Beat this game." That's the key right there. You think you're "winning" somehow if you skip understanding the story and get to see sexy bits. Have fun with that. Kind of a waste of time with this particular VN, though, since it really isn't designed for that. (And no—if you skip to the sexy bits you won't have even the first clue about the progression of the story. You might think you do, but you'll be wrong, and it will only get worse as you go.)

I imagine people like you trying out the new Far Cry game with a buddy of yours and when he is attacking a base he decides to use grenades and machine guns instead of stealth and you start yelling at him "NO. YOU ARE PLAYING THE GAME WRONG. STOP HAVING FUN!"

I didn't say you weren't having fun, nor did I say you can't play it as you wish. Your claim that you "get the gist" of the story is silly, though. You don't care about the story—if you did, you'd be reading it. Play it your way if you want, but don't pretend you know anything about the story beyond what you picked up from these discussions.

The ctrl button would like to have a word with you.
That's not the default setting though, it's more for skipping content you've already seen whenever you're forced to replay the game.
And while i agree with you in general, most games are wasting your time with bullshit story and predictable nonsense dialogues we've seen over and over, this one is different.

For your purposes, I'm sure you do.
Seems a shame to me, though. It's like watching a real film, but skipping through all the character development and only watching the bits with explosions. Great if all you want is to see explosions, but why not just watch a collection of explosions? You can't really claim to have seen the film after only watching the explosions, either. Why were there all those explosions? You don't know. You skipped that.
Maybe the skipping-through-the-dialogue approach makes sense for a porn film, where what story there is is little more than a bridge from one sex scene to the next, but for a film with any sort of narrative depth? You don't get it. You can't.
To me, LoML is to the VN world what a Kubrick or von Trier film is to 'Hollywood'. Yes, it has adult elements—even pornographic in some cases—but that's not really what it's about. Those elements are there to support the story, rather than being the point of it.
