That reminds me of the card game Fizzbin.
It's not too difficult. Each player gets six cards, except for the player on the dealer's right, who gets seven. The second card is turned up, except on Tuesdays. Two jacks is a half fizzbin. Three jacks is a sralk and the player is disqualified. A player needs king and a deuce, except at night of course, when they'd need a queen and a four. However, if a player gets a third jack they don't get another card. If they get a king, instead, then they would get another card, except when it's dark, they'd have to give it back.
