Maybe the timing was just wrong. Season 1 has a closed story arc. Doing something new from there might have been a better choice. Would have been a pause for the fans and yourself. After that an announcement of a LoML Season 2 could have attracted the attention it deserved.
Remember the hype when Lucas announced Starwars Episode 1? Hell, people even endured Jar-Jar Binks three frigging movies (though IMHO it wasn't him that ruined the prequel trilogy but the rather uninspired story, lousy scripts, bad direction and catastrophic cast (just to name a few (not to mention the Disney trilogy many, many years later))).

This week in one sentence and one that doesn't count: in spite of a nasty bout of the flu (or maybe because of it, because for some reason my mind was on fire while I had a fever and I got a ton of writing in) there's still some very good progress as I transition in testing and some editing passes. Now I have to say testing is different from usual as in there's a lot more first-time stuff eating up time like nobody's business, but it's really coming together and even though I have to stop myself on occasion with going crazy with the perks and character log entries during editing, I'm pretty happy with it, early days as it is.

I agree about the timing. The bar was set high with the first season and ended well, that would have been the best time to do a new project, but hindsight is 20/20. The developer probably wanted to do something more with it but had issue devoting time/money to the project.

Well, the two aren't directly connected, at least not in the order you might be thinking.

Chapter length shortening is because there's not much more big arcs to tackle, only lose ends, and big chapters just don't make sense anymore. It's actually a relief to be freed from that now there is no more narrative need for it, and I've had mostly positive feedback about it. And mind you, content still takes the same amount of time to make, you just release smaller parcels more often, so no-one is getting short-changed there.

The reason why don't dive full on into developments with the new characters and situation, as was my intention after the first chapter of season 2, is that I failed miserably to secure new routes of funding for it, and with support for ever eroding since the first year high (and even then it wasn't exactly a money printing machine either), Light of my Life is basically dead in the water, and that breaks my heart. :(

The reason I'm wrapping it up at all, and bringing what I always intended as a follow-up forward, is because I love these characters and this game I poured my heart and soul into over all these years too much to just walk away and leave it to be one more "abandoned" tag on this site among a sea of others. I want to do it justice and wrap it up right, even if it is the stupid thing to do.
Good for you. Much appreciated.

Crazy question. Is there a way to access the gallery in the lastest release? In the first part, the dev basically gives it away when you select the options of not want to read.

I thought shorter updates would have meant faster releases?
I know it's more fun to just post a snide comment instead of taking a minute to figure out what's actually going on but it's just a couple of posts up, FFS, even if it's a week old out of date (two weeks by tonight).

Well that's not bad company to be in. No code changes from me this time 'round, that was a release or two back (and nothing spectacular either), this time it's just a small update to the documentation pages.

I started this game totally into Macy, I found Denise kinda clingy and a little cringe-y. After season 2 I've totally flip-flopped. What's happening?!

Good documentation is vitally important, the lack of which is something something that's sunk some otherwise promising FLOSS software

Could someone please, for the love of Gawd, develop a walkthrough mod for this game. Going back and forth from game to walkthrough pdf is tiring and cumbersome.

No.

Just play it the way you think it should be played. And read the developer's notes spoiler in the first post
Already played through twice. I'd like to know what effect each choice has on story line. I'm OCD and AuDHD. Not knowing is driving me insane. Admittedly short drive, though.
