Yeah, itch.io is legit, and one of the developer friendlier platforms around, only taking an (optional) 10% cut instead of the 30% many others take. I say optional, because they offer the choice to give them nothing at all or very big cut, or anything in between, and 10% is their default that I kept it on.
There's no mod for this game as it's just not needed. You can safely go after all the love interests if you like without locking out any other character. Choices are super clear in terms of not following the path with anyone. Other than that choices heavily influence the flavor in dialogues. This question has also come up a bit over the years.
