Yeah, they however did post on the 20th Sep. this pic on their discord about the update:

It looks like they are planning to add more variety in the future for the FTL mini game.

So... more pointless minigame crap, lol. Like holy shit the dev isn't even trying anymore.

Well it was nice while it lasted, but this game is REALLY not my thing anymore considering the direction it has been going down for quite some time now, but before the last few "updates" i still had some hope that the dev will stop milking this and go back to actually finish the damn thing. Now even that tiny little hope just died.

Does this game even have a direction? It feels like every update is aimless and focus is all over the place, with the game heading for eventual abandonment once the author eventually gets bored.
That's actually a really good question. The answer however isn't as good or nice to hear and that's because it holds true for most of the western games on patreon and it boils down to: Nope, no direction, work ethics or professionalism of any sort with seemingly no longterm planning whatsoever. Or even if they have some sort of flowchart/plan the western devs hardly if ever stick to it and thus chaos ensues. A lot of times the devs actually do it on purpose to milk the patrons (which i believe all of us here know and that is exactly why Patreon got its bad rep aside from all of the other stuff like censorship)

Now i'm not going to say that japanese devs are all that better because in many aspects such as programming, art direction and just pure game dev skills the western devs are better, but jap devs actually finish their games regardless of quality (though i would argue that most of the really high end H-games are jap made), plus they are more organised and more inclined to work together on various projects. Also DLSite is arguably a much better platform than patreon. There is also the matter of Ci-en being what Patreon should have always been but never was.

As for this game in particular the way i see it, the dev should have just focused on finishing the main story and content to the end, and then crunching out all of the optional stuff later on. I mean that's the old school tried and true method...

Well put. I miss when the standard pricing for small projects was $10, instead of $10/month.

Well said. This game is going the same direction as all these other *WIPS*.

Dev starts strong or decent, gives up or turns scammy. As you can see for this game, each update adds a nothing burger, but it's enough to say "hey look! I'm still working on it". To the unexpected, this would reassure them. And they'll keep forking over money in a project they're never gonna see finished.

This is such a common scam in this genre, I can name SO many games that are like this.

Breeders of the nephleym, cloud meadow, pure onyx, Carnal instinct, Wild Life, and many more.

Yeah, there are many bad examples out there.

But I do know 2 good examples of non-asian developers that do know how important a good vision is for your project:
Succum Brewery
Souper game

They know what they want to make and how they are going to get there.
There might be some reworks, but the vision stays the same.

This game is just completely disappointing. The 4.4 star rating (as of this writing) this has is just entirely misleading. Lots of users rating this 4/5 stars for "potential". A few years later it seems that potential didn't really panned out.

Completely agree, as it stands it's all just half-baked features that are disjoint from each other, without really adding to the core of the game (if it even exists).

People complaining like crazy (over everything too which is insane just because the game is delayed a bit). There are much worse games in terms of update schedules and the content is good, the rating is also fine.
And I don't like waiting either but man, if you have time to constantly complain here, you have time to wait a bit longer.

Quality takes time, just hope it doesn't end like it did with 'Lily of the Valley'. Also always had slow updates but they were good every time. The abandon tag was a shame.

My disappointment is mostly in direction of the game, which I think impacts the speed of actual game development, and ends up with me skipping several versions before taking a peek and being disappointed given the game is still barely off the ground. No big deal either way, and I do hope the author keeps up their work.

That's just preference. Take Karryn's Prison for example. There, people are complaining the game was too focussed on the main story and not enough sidequests, correctly so because the game had so much more potential.

No game is perfect, and these aren't Triple A studios making the game either. Don't expect the same quality.
I mean that in a positive thing btw, it just means they can improve with time where Triple A studios are mostly stuck in their way of doing things. What people shouldn't do is bash these devs because it will demotivate them. Logically so.

You can also spot a dev trying to scam from miles away (*Cough* 'The Curse of Pleasure' *Cough*). And I never trust 0.1 versions. But apart from that I always keep an open mind. If it ends up abandoned it's always worse than a slow update, as I said happened with 'Lily of the Valley'.

AND content is content, no matter if you like it or not. This day and age that's a lot seeing some of these games cuckolding us more than the people inside their games.

I don't necessarily disagree with most of the things you've said, but when there's lack of content to talk about all people are left with IS complaining. It's just nature of the beast.

It's not the lack of content, it's the lack of preferred content and the impatience that grows with it.
Game has a good amount of content so far in general.
