I see this game going the same direction as CoC, tbh: the furries take it over, the focus changes from demons and monsters to anthro, and it becomes something it wasn't meant to be.
Furries are a minority but like that My Little Pony fandom (bronies) from some years ago, they are loud. Furries are always willing to group together to show their support for anything that will cater to their "unique" OC that has a shark tail, the head of a squirrel, bat wings, cow hooves for feet, a cat tongue, that howls like a wolf, etc. Something like Lilith's Throne allows them to recreate that elsewhere other than within their own imagination, fanfics that they write, and the artwork they've commissioned from some artist on FurAffinity.

The creativity of writers and modders (see: Fenoxo games) is somehow always limited to adding the entirety of the animal kingdom, rather than something extraterrestrial where it is relevant (Trials in Tainted Space) or something demonic, etc. For a game like TiTs, there's so many sci-fi references that exist within our own reality that people can use for inspiration rather than adding space pandas with giant gonads, but that's about as far as it goes.

The game is called Lilith's Throne and while demons and succubi might be common now in erotic games, I think there's more to add to the game than another anthropomorphized creature but I guess as long as it isn't Innoxia wasting their time on it instead of focusing on what is important, and they're just adding somebody else's work, then whatever. Unfortunately, not much anybody else can do about the suspiciously wealthy furry willing to spend hundreds of dollars to ensure their interests and fetishes are implemented.

The best part of the anti-furry wankfest is that it hasn't changed since 2001
My favorite part is the fact that people are coming into this thread, of all places, to bitch about it.

Like, people can argue about the semantics of the title all they want, but the fact remains that LT has always been like this. (all the way back in July 2017), specifically to the setBody() function. Things were a lot different back then, but notice all the "isFurry" calls? The transformation system has always been furry as fuck. Innoxia even mentions that the game is mostly furry on her blog (and from what I can gather that note has been there since 2017). How is LT's anthro degeneracy even a question at this point? lol

Just to emphasize, I respect that furry stuff isn't to everyone's taste (just as I find human-on-human fantasy stuff to be kind of boring and overplayed by now). I just don't care for the revisionist "furries ruined Lilith's Throne!" narrative. Not only is it kind of irritating, but it's simply untrue.

That said, I do agree with this:

For a game like TiTs, there's so many sci-fi references that exist within our own reality that people can use for inspiration rather than adding space pandas with giant gonads, but that's about as far as it goes.
I was really hoping that TiTS would be more xeno than hyperfur, but oh well. There's a reason that I'm currently prototyping an adult sci-fi text adventure game. :)

We'll see what happens. I've got a long way to go before I can hype things up too much.
The worst part about working on a porn game that's not ready to show, hell, not really far enough to be called 'a game' yet is that there's fucking no where to talk about it lol

It could be years before I go from silly prototypes to 'game worth showing off', but everyone always wants to see the game.

Also, I'm ADHD as fuck. And when it's not a job or something I actually *need* to do, it's not worth the mental energy to fight against myself. This is all just an excuse as to why I've spent the last month building multiple poker AIs. I started by wanting to create a strip poker mini-game and ended up going on the ADHD hyperfocused dive into poker AIs.

This is why I like "this is a fun project to learn some shit" and not "this is my job." I'd be a horrible full time developer lol

er... I'd be a horrible full time developer on top of my day job. I should really give myself some credit.

I feel you... never tried making a game yet, but it's actually how it is with my uni assignments. I would rather play games than do something useful

At least give us the basic premise and what kind of game it is.
The exact plans are pretty vague at this point, but the general idea is to have a mixture of space gameplay, similar to the PalmOS game Space Trader (that is, fairly straightforward trading/bounty hunting/piracy mechanics), coupled with planet-based quests and debauchery. The on-foot stuff would be akin to the familiar CoC/TiTS model. It's definitely going to have some lolfurry in it (furries like making furry games…weird, eh) but I definitely want to crank the alien dial up a few notches.

I currently have a reasonably robust story/map parser in place (that is, it converts fairly readable YAML/Markdown markup into messy JavaScript objects for the engine to read), and I'm currently messing around with various JS frameworks to try to pick The Right One™. I'm more of a backend developer than a frontend one, so that part isn't exactly my forte.

I haven't been too productive in the past few months due to real life rearing its ugly head (nothing negative, but it's still kept me busy) but things have been settling down lately.

Lastly, I'm not planning to make this a commercial venture at all. If everything comes together and this becomes a thing, the project is going to be completely free, open source, and unmonetized. I've seen far too many examples of what Patreon and SubscribeStar can do to people.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have mentioned anything (Dog knows how many unfinished prototypes I have on my various HDDs/SSDs), but what I have is far enough along that I think it's going to happen. Plus it's something I really, really want and also something that nobody seems to have delivered yet, while most of my other things are decidedly more derivative and poorly conceived.

Also, I'm ADHD as fuck. And when it's not a job or something I actually *need* to do, it's not worth the mental energy to fight against myself. Maybe I should get tested for ADHD at some point, because I have the same tendencies. Working as a full-time dev for a while definitely helped me organize my thoughts (Kanban boards are a godsend) and settle down to some extent, but focusing on one thing is still a challenge for me sometimes.

A dram of whiskey once in a while can help, too.

Hah, yeah, that's the crux of it, isn't it? It's tough to find the motivation to essentially work two jobs back to back, especially if the second one doesn't earn you any cash.

How do you run the java version? What do I need for it and can anybody send me links to download them? Tried opening it before but it doesn't appear even after like 10 minutes and doesn't appear in the task manager.

It doesn't matter if they are a minority group or not, fact is Lilith's Throne has always catered to furries. Been that way since the beginning and that's how it will remain. The configs that allow you to disable said content and turn random NPCS into humans is basically just an afterthought for people who -really- don't like furries. Essential NPCs remain as they are, meaning you have to deal with them as such, whether you like it or not.

IMO there are two types of "furries"; people who treat it as a serious hobby and those who aren't that deep into it but still appreciate it. I'm one of the latter - I don't have the inclination nor desire to wear a fursuit or make a fursona, but I still like the idea of intelligent, anthro animals in fiction. "True" furries by themselves may not be that numerous (which is honestly debatable), however, those numbers tend to go up when you add "furry-positive" individuals to the mix. I think both combined make a sizeable chunk of the community, more than you may think.

While it is true (and sometimes unfortunately) that the one with the most money calls the shots, furries can't "corrupt" a game that already caters to them by design...

Not to sound like Captain Obvious but... do you have Java installed? You need it to run the .jar version.

I'm not allowed to drunk program anymore. I kept writing code that functioned as intended, but was impossible to figure out how. Like, some friends and I would try and figure out what the hell I wrote and it wouldn't make sense. And if anyone tried to make sense of it or clean it up later, it would stop functioning entirely.

Drunk me likes to solve problems in the least logical way possible. Which made my uni professors really unhappy with me back in the day lol

Tons and TONS of planning and work and code refactoring. Can also be very fun and rewarding when a system works... only to realize later that maybe it would be better if you used Scriptable Objects instead of a regular class and go re-work it, then everything goes fubar. Or just some aspect bugs out..most commonly animations.

20% of the time is spent thinking what should I do, 20% thinking how should I implement it, 30% spent making contnent (models, textures, art) and the rest is coding and re-fractoring.

I have 3 games in the works and am realizing I was being an indecisive retard for even attempting that.

Inno is kind of stuck in development hell with a lot of "personal issues" going on and it's all causing delays like mad, on top of the "regular" delays.
It's unfortunate that this has been the case for over 2 years now. Probably longer, but that's about when I started following the game's progress (and I use that word loosely).

That's the best kind of code, though. The phrase is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" for a reason.

So what you're saying is that when you're under the influence you basically become a next level developer. To suppress that is just madness! ;)

Overplayed? How many fantasy games have exclusively human characters?
I never said that all of them have exclusively human characters, but the ratio of character types tend to be heavily skewed in that direction. Like, it's far more likely that you'll get a dozen humans and *insert lone random anthro species here*. Sure, in many cases it largely boils down to a different coat of paint, but fantasies, dammit.

I mean, I totally get why this is the case (most people aren't furry degenerates, after all :sneaky:). I'm just saying that I've seen and played enough human-on-human stuff over the years that it isn't all that interesting to me, so a game that's mostly that isn't likely to hold my interest unless it has a damn good hook (one notable example of that being Degrees of Lewdity—largely human content, but its gameplay loop is really interesting).

I dunno, man. I've seen enough furry-focused H-games in my life to know that they're not uncommon. I can't imagine that it's very difficult to find what you're looking for. I mean, there's not gonna be that perfect game that hits all the right notes, but considering how big both genres are, there must be plenty of options.

On one hand, that might be true. On the other hand, I nearly destroyed my liver getting through my cryptography electives.

I swear to god basically every assignment in that class would involve me breaking my brain over bullshit mathematical magic only to give up and go out drinking with friends. Then I'd wake up in the morning and find out that my homework was done. And apparently I'm a snarky drunk, because my comments got progressively more self deprecating as the semester went on lol

You never want to try and figure out what you did only to see a comment from yourself, telling yourself that you won't understand lol

It would have been fine, but I always got weird looks for bringing a flask to test days.

I feel like it doesn't matter how many options there are, people will want more. How many harem games there are? Or rape? Or... monster and e.t.c.

Don't get me wrong, I've found plenty of good smut, and have expanded my horizons quite a bit in the process. This site has been an absolute godsend for discovering new and active projects. I'm not opposed to giving artists money, but I'm not a gambler. :)

Really, one of the reasons I'm looking into rolling my own thing is simply for the pure challenge of it. I'd love to have a way to flex both my coding and writing chops. I've got a raging boner for sci-fi so that seems like a pretty good genre to target.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when Hyde starts insulting Jekyll like that. :p

I've never really drank myself to that point during a coding binge. Just enough to get a slight buzz and slow down my thoughts a bit. That said, I also don't have the pressures of college weighing on me anymore. That makes it a bit easier.
