To be honest, it is nice some content was added that wasn't dress up waifu shit. However until the combat is interesting, this game stays on the shelf.

Please don't give Inno any more ideas on how to delay the game even more, it is already going to take 150 years for the game to come out without her/him (I really don't know people refer to Inno as both) worrying about an android port. Plus the game is so terribly optimized that it might very well kill any android device that tries to run it.

Seriously, how the fuck does the game lag out my computer? It is a text based game and I have 16 fucking gbs of ram, a ryzen 7 and 1080ti. How does a text based game lag my pc more than GTA V or ARMA?
Plenty of memory leaks.

While Crusader Kings is a terrible game when it comes to performance (though III is much better when it comes to that) I still find this game much worse. CK at least is clearly working when it starts to get slow, LT often times just freezes for seconds at a time. Plus as soon as you add mods LT can become completely unplayable and while part of the blame lays on the modders shoulders a lot of the blame should still go to Inno for making a game so unoptimized that a couple of clothing mods can cause it to refuse to launch.

This project really saddens me because it is actually quite good and has a lot of potential but Inno's terrible coding and awful work ethic is killing it. I hope Inno finds a way to unfuck this as I would hate to see this project become the text based porn version of Yandere Simulator.

Holy balls, if you never said that i would never come across with the whooping 1.5gb - 2.0gb of memory the game consumes. God damn.
Play for a few hours and you may get a multi GIG error file.
It records your error. Then it rerecords the error and doubles it. Then redoubles its double every tick. Ad Infinium.

A Multi Gig Notepad Document Error File.
My record is ~30 gigs before my SSD started panicking.

Where is that file stored? I've never seen any such file in the game's folder, so either I don't have that issue or it's somewhere else and I'd like to make sure it's not secretly eating up storage.

The error document does not exist until you start a game, and creates one inside your data folder.
It starts with a basic header of version and java number.
Then it starts adding lines.

Here is an light example. Fully Vanilla. No save scums. No slaves. Just the basic results of about an hour of .4.
It goes zero to turbo bloat with slaves and unfinished content.

Interesting. I found the file, but it's blank aside from the header. I've played about 4-5 hours of .4, fully vanilla, with a significant amount of quicksave-scumming and heavy use of the debug menu. Absolutely no errors and the document is only 1 kb. I wonder if it's something specific to your system/install that's causing so many errors or if it's the other way around and I'm just lucky. Or if it's a specific thing that causes the errors and I just haven't done it yet.

To the people saying that Java is the problem, I would like to point out that Minecraft is still coded in Java to this day, and look at that game.
Exactly. You can make good games in Java. And a text adventure game is the lightest weight game you could make. I've had the game using up to 16gb of memory. I'll mention this again down bellow...

My favorite part of this game being updated is coming here and looking at how mad everybody gets. Not to say it isn't deserved of course, because Inno definitely deserves it, but it's still super entertaining.
It is rather entertaining, I will admit lol

So we agree that the driver's the problem, not the engine.
I don't like this analogy, because the game engine is absolutely the problem lol

I really hate this fucking dev. I expected fields content to be available by version 4.0, which it is now way past that deadline. How can she be this incompetent at every aspect of game design.
What are you talking about, v0.4.0 came out! So now there's nothing to complain about! Sure it was a little late, but she released v0.4.0...

Oh, you meant the content? Yeah... that's not going to happen any time soon.

To be honest, it is nice some content was added that wasn't dress up waifu shit. However until the combat is interesting, this game stays on the shelf.
That's never going to happen. It's taken more than a year to get a single new area added to the game. And during all that time contributors have been trying their hardest to make the best of the game, and that all depends on the combat system not changing.

If we ever decided to move away from the placeholder combat system, and it is a placeholder system, it would end up being a mountain of work to convert everything. And if there's one thing this dev doesn't like doing, it's work.

Holy balls, if you never said that i would never come across with the whooping 1.5gb - 2.0gb of memory the game consumes. God damn.
Oh that's nothing. I've had the game pushing 16gb+

If you think the game runs badly now, just imagine how badly it runs once it forces you to start using your pagefile.

The error logging for this game is such a cluster fuck. It doesn't have any built in protections for the user, like limiting repeat entries or culling the file as it gets too large. It also used to have a fun memory leaks for some damn reason, where it also would eat your hard drive at the same time. I'm not sure if it'll still do it, but a few versions ago you could get the game to write to that file endlessly, and at the same time it would just destroy your memory. So it would basically just expand the file and the games memory usage until your system crashed. The one time it ran away from me I only noticed because my computer nearly shit itself after it ran of memory. Only took about 15 minutes while not paying attention.

I'm assuming it was just putting everything it wrote to the file into memory, but I had to kill the system to recover so I couldn't check the memory contents. I haven't played the game in a since the terrible Nyan quest rewrite, but I assume the same conditions will still work.

For a long while I'd manually create the log file, but not give the game permission to edit it. The game would still work, because apparently it doesn't test the log file beforehand, and those errors would just go poof.

I'm curious - what so terrible about "Nyan rewrite". I only saw late version, what was there before?
Before it was generic affinity fill then sexytimes with random katgirl. So expansion was not unwarranted... But...

Inno was paid to expand the catgirl shopkeeps story.
So for 6 months Inno blundered through...
Added park walk.
Added dinner date.
Literal Cougar asking SAT relationship details.
Literal Cougar dinner date.
Literal Cougar/Catgirl Threesome.

Literal Cougar is also ABOVE Lily in political hierarchy. And has a single kid running a dinky dress shop.
Its kinda a mess.

So now she's supposedly depressed about being sidetracked and this depression will be solved by getting even more sidetracked. Mindblowing, really. I don't have the energy to read the rest of this insanity.

Well, at least she can get comfort by getting sweet money from the SS backers paying for the popcorn.

No one is mad Inno is adding content, people are mad because Inno has been promising for more than a year content that was always "almost done" then we found out that she hadn't even started it and instead worked on side content that had no affect on the core gameplay. No one would care about Inno getting side tracked if they actually managed to fulfil their promises, which Inno hasn't.

I quite enjoyed this game a few years ago when it was still rather new but judging by the recent discussion here I assume the dev decided to do a bunch of random shit to appease backers or something and there's not really that much more main story (or something similar) content added in, is there? The reason I had stopped before was because I reached the part where we could leave that starter town, only the rest of the world wasn't added in yet. I could only talk to shopkeepers and fight in the sewers for so long before I decided to just wait a while for new updates.

Huh, for someone so sure of oneself, you didn't actually rebut any of my points. So, what exactly are you getting at here? You're okay with allowing such poor behavior to be represented within this community without a counter? What exactly does that make you?
As for your "muh personal incentive wah wah", an "ad hominem", the thing you told me to look up is: "... a rhetorical strategy where the speaker attacks the character, motive, or some other attribute of the person making an argument rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself." Do you know what makes that so amusing? "... rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself." But I did address the argument, therefore, it wasn't an "ad hominem", oh "Mister Big Brain".
I'll reiterate my advice to you: Wind your neck in.
So what 'poor behaviour' are you on about? Your argument (beyond insults) boils down to relying on that something Inno said on Subscribestar made a commitment. And that breeching that commitment brings the community into disrepute. If that's what you think take it up through that channel - my opinion is that you are pushing shit up hill on all fronts.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
In the more mundane sense I challenge you to show that Innoxia is not working on the game fulltime. Saying that "she's not very productive" is not sufficient since it is clear that she is doing 'some' work on the game. And show it in the place she made the commitment so that whatever harm you think is being inflicted on that community ceases. I don't think you will rise to the challenge.

And how the fuck is that singlehandly going to bring the 'community' into disrepute? I mean there are dozens of other games/developers on this site that are clearly going nowhere and milking the shit out of people, generally on Patreon and quite often for much bigger bucks than Innnoxia will ever make. If you are not aware of that then I guess you don't get around much.

As far as I can tell you just want Innoxia to not go on developing a game in her own fashion. The fashion that has so far brought us a good game, warts and all, that has IMO significantly enhanced the reputation of the 'community'. And actually I'm not sure why you're still here if you don't think this is one of the better games we have.

Although I wouldn't put it in those terms... that's a reasonable summary. There has been other stuff added but likely stuff you don't care about.
