Those routes were not for me and not what make this game good, but to delete all that work has gotta be rough man...
With games that contain this kinda stuff it always feels like a ticking timebomb until someone reports it...

Changes to the game.

Hi guys.

Sorry for the absence recently.

Sadly I'm not returning with any good news but I just need to rip the band aid off and say it straight because I've been shaking at the thought of dropping this news for a week now. Two routes in the game are being removed entirely being Paul's route and Duncan's route. I know these routes in particular are where a lot of my notoriety came from and I know the popularity of the game will take a major hit seeing these routes go but believe me when I say; I didn't make this decision lightly. I recently posted about my Mega account being removed and though Mega's terms & conditions are very open to interpretation due to how loosely they're written; the law leaves no wiggle room. I really just want to make a great game with something for everyone, a lasting experience for those that play but I won't break the law to do it. Around six months into making Episode 1 I looked into the legal side of things when considering Duncan but I stopped thinking that "so many others are doing it, it's probably fine." This is true for most of the game's content but I really should've been more thorough. The law is extremely clear in how it's written and that's the bottom line for me. Some may think this is an unreasonable reaction but please consider yourself in this situation. Possession is one thing but creation and distribution is another.

Duncan will remain in the game as a key component in Riggs' operations but without Paul's routes I see little reason to keep his character in the game. The main story will remain unchanged.

I am so, so sorry to every and anyone who was looking forward to these routes.

Over the next few days I'll be working on an adapted version of the master file with these routes removed, after it's ready I'll re-upload the game. This will undoubtedly create a lot of issues in the coming months but it's a hurdle I'll tackle as we come to it.

I really am sorry but there's no way around it.

I completely understand your position. Do what you gotta do.

Sad though, as I was actually looking forward to more Blackmailing and more devious actions Paul and Duncan would have taken on Lisa. I wanted to see Lisa go through a horrible circumstance but ultimately come out at the other end as a survivor and stronger. That would have been an amazing Character Arc.

But again, do what you gotta do....

Still excited for the next update...

Probably because the same stuff could make him lose his patreon and because the potential legal rammifications don't just limit itself to his online accounts.

Changes to the game.

Hi guys.

hey just a quick suggestion,is it possible to entirely neglect the blackmail stuffs in the official portal like patreon and mega but can be released as a separate patches in this forum,i know that palegrass has suggested earlier he was quite skeptical about the darker routes,but anyway as he mentioned removing it wont affect the story,but the distress and downfall lisa goes through is really important so i thought why not include it separately as file that can attached in the official game...kinda like a patch for scenes of darker routes...

i know there are many platforms other than patreon mega so that you can port that separate patch with the darker routes in this forum though ...dont know how it will go i hope not releasing officially and releasing as separate patch in the f95zone forum would be choice that can be considered!

also since duncan is important for the tony arc,probably in the official release there might be scenes extreme only through verbal communication,the nudity and rape are very extreme so that probably a separate secret patch releasing in this forum might be a viable option..

That is a very good idea. Also check out the website : L e w d c o r n e r. There are many risque titles that manage to pull it off on that website so therefore, I do believe that there has to some other way to still continue those routes.

now i am really worried about the riggs and darker routes in the story when tony comes,Is palegrass gonna compromise the sex scenes of darker paths in the future for the sake of this legal issue...dude this really blocks the creative freedom in this medium,mahn i have been waiting to see lisa 's RISE after her major downfall,now i think its just gonna be some hardcore violent scenes(ya ya those vanilla stuffs as in other games) without the pulse in it!!

At the moment there is a lot of content, that is many times "darker" than such story from “moral” point of view and content lives in free access and no one doing anything with that... hmm now it's making more sense, but still kind of unsure.

Still, I think your "patch" idea looks workable, but let's say it's not patch, but just "unofficial mod by some other artist" (who made it for his own pleasure, and not out of desire to get money from it), go then prove it's not true

ps. To be honest, I'm upset in first place precisely because I was really interested in how author was going to shape continuation of these routes while maintaining balance I mentioned earlier.

PaleGrass I don’t know if you are aware of his work but if you check out project Myriam, you will see that he releases a separate patch that has all the taboos. I would recommend that route if all you are worried about is the legal side of things. Now if you are feeling a personal conviction then that is another thing all together and I say more power to you. I personally was very invested in the Paul route to see how it all plays out, so I will admit my disappointment, but you are the creator and I care more about you sticking with your creative integrity. So if you want to stop for you, again more power to you, it’s your baby. But if you are only stopping bc of patreon and mega. Then I would suggest the patch route. At least something to think about. Others please chime in on your thoughts.

While he mentioned Mega in passing in his post, if you look more closely, you can see that the point he stresses is the law, and he mentions that creating and distributing are treated differently than possession.

This probably has to do with the fact that PaleGrass is Irish. I don't know if he's from the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, but based on this post, I'm guessing that it's Northern Ireland. In Northern Ireland, the laws around pornography are similar to those in England. In both England and Northern Ireland, "extreme pornography" is specifically criminalized. This is only one example among many of how England has gone from once being a truly great nation, to now being a smoking dumpster fire of injustice and oppression. And Northern Ireland, as part of the UK, has sadly followed suit.

So, if PaleGrass does, in fact, live in Northern Ireland, it is possible that making that content is actually a criminal act for him. I haven't researched the Northern Irish pornography laws in depth. In some places, there is a difference in the law between content (photographic or video) which is produced using live models and content produced as CG images or drawings/paintings. So, depending on how the law is actually written, and whether or not there is any case law to support it, it might still be legal for him to produce CG images. But maybe he has already researched it and found out that this is not the case. Or maybe he's just decided to completely avoid the question.

Again, based on his comments about the law, I really don't believe this is a Mega/Patreon problem. This is a problem with oppressive and tyrannical laws in his country.

Well, the best solution is to change the bad laws in Northern Ireland. But neither PG nor any of us will be able to accomplish that in the timeframe necessary to save this game from being ruined. And yes, I do consider the game ruined.

The next best solution (in terms of saving the game from ruin, not in terms of what works for PG in a business sense), would be for PG to move to the Republic of Ireland. But this game doesn't bring in anywhere near enough money for him to pay for a move, and then repeatedly pay for the extra travel expenses to go see his family in Northern Ireland on a regular basis.

Basically, PG got fucked by the tyrannical laws of his home country, and this game got fucked, as well.
