New Website (No Subscriptions setup yet)
What are all these new graphics?
After describing the game's story as "dark" a
trillion times over the past 5 years maybe it's best that I advertise it as such. This is exactly the kind of theme I wanted for the game's Steam profile. Spooky silhouette's of characters, flecks of rain, moody colors, etc.
I had planned to get key art, logo and such prepped for a Steam release then afterward, migrate the style outward to all platforms but I decided to get the branding started early becauseeeeee..
I made a website.
You must be registered to see the links
Okay, disclaimer: I haven't made a website before with the exception of a silly Geocities thing I made when I was like 13 years old so don't judge it too harshly (SquareSpace made it
very straightforward so judge it
extremely harshly ^_^). It hasn't been optimized for mobile yet so please don't look at it on mobile.
No, really. It's a
complete mess over there!
I just wanted your opinion on how it looks so far on desktop. New eerie aesthetic to sit alongside the eerie soundtrack. It's all coming together nicely. I had the soundtrack embedded on the main page but then I figured "I find it irksome when I have to mute things on websites" so it was swiftly removed.
It's a fun thought to imagine a new player coming across all this horror-esque imagery advertising the game. They download it and 20 minutes in they're trying on jersey's in Renshire to some of the goofiest music imaginable ^_^
"Did I download the wrong thing..?"
I know the website is worded quite formally which isn't really me at all but I mentioned a while ago that I wanted to start finalizing things. Art, logos, the "brand." I actually had quite light hearted writing throughout to start with but it felt at odds with the theme of the site so I went with a more professional approach. It is a bit cringe but I think it suits better than the jokes I was cracking beforehand
I've considered making a website many, many times but as with everything that isn't directly related to game content, I just put it off. Then yesterday's news lit a fire under me and I sat down for a few hours and knocked it out.
Why?
I
love Subscribestar. I've been very vocal about my adoration for this platform because of it's proud championing of adult art & games over the years but it isn't an easy thing to access for much of the world and there have even been several reports recently of users in the US struggling with payments too.
For everyone including those finding difficulty in the US; I'm gonna try to create a functioning membership platform for Lisa. I'll be using a payment processor called CCBill which is widely used in adult sites all over the world meaning I won't handle any of the payments myself so it'll essentially work exactly as it does on Patreon or here on SubStar.
The difference being that when I'm forming the update posts on that side of the fence, all teasers that are in any way explicit will have to instead be hosted on file servers like GoFile. I can't even host them on another site then embed it on a website I host myself or I become a "pornographer" as far as the Online Safety Act (OSA) is concerned.
It's a little complicated but the gist is that if I host any material that could be deemed as pornographic or "intended to induce sexual arousal" on websites
that I own, I then require
strict age verification on that website meaning that I would require users to provide photo ID to even view it or else I could end up in prison. Yes, this is the UK in 2025. Obviously I would
never ask that of anyone so my alternative is to host these images on servers that have nothing to do with me.
Hosting the images myself = Bad
Linking to other servers hosting the same images = Good
Embedding the images even though they're hosted elsewhere = Bad
Pay your taxes and don't criticize your tyrant overlords = Good
Everything else would remain the same. Links to new builds on GoFile / Pixel, full bodied update posts, polls, etc but with zero risk of waking up to a deleted account and hopefully a reliable & stable futureproofed system that I can set up once and forget about. Then I say farewell to the tragedies of the past few years as I sail off into the promised land.
I don't have an ETA on this. I don't even know if it's fully possible yet but where there's a will, there's a way
I know this isn't normal practice and I totally get why it isn't. It's a lot of work. But as the censorship of the West continues to rise, I need stable ground.
Alrighty! Not exactly an update post (no teasers? BOO!) but that was my evening. I mentioned in the previous post that there's a long way left to go for Lisa's development and making sure I can actually make it long term is important and mister website is step one x
I'll pop up another update post in a couple days. I might even share some pics too.. o.o
Sending my love to all of you <3
