thank you! do you know by any chance, if i later upgrade to 5.0, are my saves compatible? or do i need to restart?
Yeah, as Yukihirou already said. No issues usually except between major core game changes. We only had one and a half of those since LonaPRG happened upon this site. Ten and a half month ago. The save screen message can be safely ignored unless eccma417 says otherwise in his changelog.

So far Doom mode's been a blast to play, in fact I can't stop playing at all. Aside from planning your trip and doing scout runs/cartography, I also learned the biggest threats in this game (apply to all games I play honestly), and that are my greed and my impatience. I can't count the number of times my greed/impatience led me to go for a single piece of raw meat lying on the ground or the desire to curb stomp a weak goblin, well, those more often than not land me into dangerous situations such as traps and ambush in dark caves.

Zen and careful planning are the keys to winning, slow and steady, also fear of items loss are present all the time as well and that's also part of me being greedy, but I learned one that does not want to sacrifice anything will get nothing good in return.

You won't experience any of that on Hard and Hell mode as the desire to save scum or open menu to chug an energy drink take over you. After playing doom mode I completely abandoned my level 90 Hell mode Lona. Also pregnancy is a viable game changer now as that's a sure way to preserve my level and items in case I perish in the corruped land or fish island. Those areas are super dangerous.

Did someone destroy abomination lair? So many monster in here
Yeah, several lairs, the loot is top tier, even managed to find a musket in treasure chests. But it's not worth risking your life for those, IMHO.

Game doesn't work. I tried different versions of it and none of them worked. When I start the game it immediately skips through all the messages and then I can't do anything. None of the buttons work. I can't get past the tutorial screen.

Two bugs/design faults:
- Rescuing Tommy and returning to Noer instead of visiting his mother to complete the quest will make him become a refugee escort target, talking to him will make him thanking you for escorting him to Noer and dissapear, thus make you fail the quest. Obviously won't be fixed since noone would do this anyways.
- Buying Mutated mushrooms from Goblin only costs 400, yet when Lona sells it the base price is still 400 + WIS bonus. Either make it cost 800 or make it sells for 200 + WIS bonus.

Is it truly possible though? I feel like I'd die every 40 minutes, lol
I play on "just" hard and i'm getting rekt without some combat traits. I can beat beggars, goblins, which is still risky, undead are pretty strong already, and the deep ones and bandits are just insane. Dunno how much difficulty adds Doom, but it can't be very healthy to play. Maybe i'm just bad, and some Darkest Dungeon legend will show me how easy it is to play on Doom without savescumming.

It's totally possible. But it requires a first playthrough on hell mode at minimum to get the gist of the difficulty.

After that you must learn enemy weakness and pattern and come up with countermeasure. You must also learn how to build a wall and turtle formation/choke point with your 2 companions.

Most important is to never take risk, never rush in, even if your companions or kidnapped victims are being raped or in danger, you must not rush in at all cost, never put yourself in danger.

Only fight 1 on 1, if there're 2 enemy ganging up on you, you're toast, unless you bring a lot of stamina potions and manage to whistle your companions just in time to save your ass, effectively turning such a dangerous situation into your own ambush scenario.

What if you're in a tight corridor, there's one goblin blocking your path and a goblin archer firing at you from a safe distance ? There's 2 way to handle that, either retreat at full speed or seduce the archer to come into your range. Hint: Manage your weakness level to suit the raid and you can seduce almost any humanoid enemy.

There's a lot more advanced dirty combat tactics, but where's the fun if you don't experience it yourself.

Yup, beggars are easy since they fear the strong and have tendency to flee if hit.

Goblin are also easy since they're coward and prefer to evade instead of attacking, their attack pattern are also the most exploitable and easy to guess/counter.

Undead is slow and easy to defeat if you use your lantern + glasses + ponytail combo, try it, they die in one second. If you're low on money, then simply equipping a ponytail is enough, you kill undead in 1.5 second with this.

Bandits are strong indeed, but they're nothing compared to Noer guards. If you can't deal with them on your own then you have to request aid from your companions and learn to use formation and aggro range.

Deepone are the hardest to deal with, but their guards version on the island are even more tougher and meaner. They're super resistant to magic, they deal stamina damage and injuries. Tough luck, you have to use all avaiable means to run away from them, do not ever fight them if you don't have to. Bandits may drop coins and foods but deepone, while hitting like a truck, drop only garbage, there's almost no reason to pick a fight with them unless you're ambushed.

For the herbs. just go to i think its called "Rain forests" areas (look like not pointy trees) and enter and collect the ones you find. they are white i believe

by the way, is not playing a whore viable in this game? i always love to play stronk independent warrior women who then get corrupted into dumb bimbos after many rapes.
so i didnt skill any of the nympho stuff. i just skilled the warrior ( tough or whatever its called ) skill and then put the rest of the points into combat. is that even a good idea?
