Avoidable, yes.
The only NTR content involves Evelyn and Thaddeus. After the first week, try to talk to Thaddeus when his portrait is next to Evelyn's on the town map, and you see them kissing. The way to end the NTR is to interrupt them. If you watch but don't interrupt, there are two more scenes of them together that you can see by trying again to talk to T when he's with E.
You can interrupt at any time, including after seeing all the scenes, or immediately on seeing the first scene. (to unlock the gallery entry, you need to see all three scenes).
From the dialogue, it seems that when you see them kissing, that is the first time they've done anything.
Consequences of interrupting: you cease to get a modest weekly sum from Evelyn. Evelyn becomes MUCH easier to romance. That's it.
If I am going to romance Evelyn, I generally put off looking in on them until I no longer need the money (around week 3-4), then interrupt. Money is not very important in this game, so stopping them at the first possible opportunity is also a perfectly viable option (you just need to do one more work shift for Callie per week to make up the difference).
