Ren'Py - Completed - Long Live the Princess [v1.0.1] [Belle]

Picked up this game again after a year or so, back then when I played it, I felt it had great potential but was poorly executed. Sadly, coming back after a year things have not changed much. That is not to say this game doesnt have good moments. That's why a lot of people give this 5 stars (highly overrated imho) whilst others give it 1 to 2 stars.

As I said this game has some great elements in it, especially if you're a fan of the genre. It's a fantasy with magic, pixy's, fey, knights, queen/princess ... in a sort of medieval time/place, character looks and interactions are represented in this; and usually done well (except for speech but who wants to read old english anyway?). There's lots of variety with a big cast and the dev provides lore for each indiviual as well as their clan and/or race.

Best part about this game (by far) is Belle or to be more precise the banter/interactions between Belle and the MC. Also, lets be honest, the sex scenes between MC, Belle, Queen Fey, Erato (because they are these mythical beings) I very much enjoyed! Although, a lot of the times these scenes felt forced. Queen Fey had a vision about having sex with the MC (oversimplified but boils down to this) so the Queen has sex with the MC. Erato needs seed of a strong man or whatever for her bush, I mean forest to remain healthy (I think it was something along those lines), anyway again feels forced. Many other examples like this! Granted, in old times the act of sex/love/marriage were often done through arrangements, so you can defend this approach by the dev.


The bad:
You cannot play this game without a walkthrough or without having massive amounts of time and willingness to try everything out; but I sincerely doubt you'll have fun while doing so. Needing a walkthrough might not be a huge issue for everyone, but it is to me and should be for the dev. Because this means: the game, the story, the characters, all of it, is disconnected; and that in turn ruins immersion. -1

You have certain goals you need to reach but no knowledge (or sometimes options) on how to reach it. Hint system (or some quest tracker) would be extremely helpful. -1

Mindcontrol, not original. It tries to be more in depth by finding clues, interrogating people (often your love interests) and once you find out their secrets, you gain massive control over them. Still, having to conquer your love interest by basically mindcontrol, is not very satisfactory, even done by this longwinded approach. It's no substitution for actual build up and/or character progression. -1

Molesting people in their sleep..? Ugh.. Do not understand the appeal, put your finger in ass/vag, push, pull...? Who has fun with this? Kinda wished Samarra wouldve done something to the MC when she caught him but no the story explains this away like its nothing. Molesting people helps you become more stealthy, at least I think it does. Actually I'm not even sure what purpose it serves except making you a rapist. Off course this a game so take it with a grain of salt some might think. That being said even in a game, I don't want to be a rapist or worse, enjoy being one (so why put it in at all)??!!! -1

Sandbox, badly executed but manageable, I won't deduct points for that, could be improved upon however.

As such I'd rate this as 6/10 or just above average, for actually having moments of sheer brilliance, this game falls short on what it tries to deliver. Do not recommend unless you're a fan of the genre or you're bored and got nothing else to do.

Tortuous story, perfect rendering, stable update.
I think the game is no longer a visual novel. The game is not an RPG, but it is more like an RPG. The sense of participation is getting stronger and stronger.
I don't think adult games should all be pornographic pictures. Attractive stories are the foundation of a great book.
Should MC Return to Human Society? Or into the realm of elves? Or do you want to be a messenger of peace for two parallel worlds? We will wait and see.

So, this game...
Well, it's great. Like, really great. Should I say more? Well, I might as well, now that I have slept on it.

Graphics:
They are good. Nothing obviously broken. I didn't really like the combat choreography, but that's just me.
There are animations for those who wonder and care (I don't). They are decent.

Characters:

The Main Character
He is a looser. And I mean a total looser. I really didn't like him at the start of the game, but he grows and grows a lot. Not always in a good way (he is going around messing with the minds of people) but he is not evil for the evilz sake. He has his good qualities (or at least you have enough control over him to nurture them) - he is loyal, brave, surprisingly caring and smart and his main problem was always that he is lazy. And the game makes it painfully obvious this is what the problem was.

As a whole he is a good character and is not as bad of a person... if you can look past the mind control part of the story. I know a lot of people won't be able to, but as far as MCs in adult games go - he is surprisingly nice. I liked him (you can bring the torches now).

But to like the character you must let him grow. At the start he is kind of the bog standard creep MC. And he gets pushed around a lot. But as he gets stronger he turns the tables, so don't despair.

The rest of the cast:
The cast is pretty big and most of them work well. You won't be meeting the same girl over and over - each one is different and a surprisingly well-rounded character. They are doing their own shit... until you mess with them and even after that they are not your puppets. I won't go in to detail for all, but I like most of them (like being defined as - they are well-written characters, I still wanna punch the royal envoy in the face).

Special note about your constant companion - at first I thought her annoying as hell, but as the story developed she grew on me. Half of the fun in the game is the constant banter between the two of you.

Another really good point for the game IMO is that it treats sexual orientation pretty decently. You can't just wave your hand and make a lesbian hungry for cock. Yes it's probably still quicker than realistic, but considering the very strict limitations in time the game gives you... yeah, it is really well approached topic.

Story.
Honestly... while engaging and well-written, the story is nothing stellar. Almost all "twists" are obvious. Some of them from a very early point in the game (If you don't know who the Lady in the Lake is - you are pretty blind )
This is strangely not exactly a criticism of the story. It doesn't try to be more than it is and knowing where and when to stop is one of the hardest things about writing. I can't stress this enough.

Gameplay.
It's probably my main problem with the game. I get the idea, but I do have several problems with it, that I can't really ignore.
New Game Plus - I'm not certain it's a good idea in an adult game. I'm really not.Especially with such an otherwise simple system.
Training - while I like the idea of the different training sessions, I really don't like there is only one way to improve. There are no shortcuts, no alternative routes. Bravery training is the worst in that respect alongside Pathfinding.
Spell-learning - with the game having such a great secrets and investigation sub-systems in it, I would have really liked to see them involved in learning spells.
That said, none of those things is bad per se. It's my personal preference so... take it as you will.

Conclusion:
It's a very promising game with more than enough content and I'm not certain we have seen even half of it. Play it. You probably won't regret it.

The pixie Belle is fantastic, sometimes I laugh hard, for me she makes this game. (Literally )

The story is engaging, I assume that without a guide could be a bit more challenging to view all scenes considering a lot of clicking is needed.

The graphics are great, not the best, but I like them.
Large heterogeneity of girls, is this a harem game or not (?), some girls presumably care about this. Have background music. Amazing.

Great sarcastic humor, especially the interaction between the MC and the pixy is really funny. I like the fact that jou need some detective skills to uncover secrets. The woman in this game are beautiful but still real (no overly big breasts or something like that). I enjoyed playing this game and I hope to continue the story soon.

This is one of those games where you go in expecting it to be a typical porn game, but end up staying for the game itself. The writing is great and fun to read with a good story and character interactions with a simple but neat investigation mechanic. The renders and character models look great with well done and fun intimate scenes. Overall greatly enjoyed the game and personally consider it to be one of the best on this site.

I've played this game long enough and want to give it a review now.

Story

The Story is nicely written and very interesting to follow. Compared to some other games where a boring Story is just used to fill up the content, in this game you actually have a legit one. It makes fun and it makes you want to play more (not only for the adult content). There is a nice mini game / feature which I don't want to spoil and this feature makes the Story even more interesting. You play in a fantasy world but not to just to slay the evil, you've to solve problems and mysteries.

Characters

One of the big plus points in this game are the unique Characters. Each one is very interestingly written and you feel attached to them. Especially Belle (the fairy) which travels with you in this adventure is a very nice companion.

Gameplay

As mentioned above there is a very interesting feature in this game which is used to go through the Story. I personally like this feature a lot and it helps one to treasure the whole Story even more. This game has a day / night cycle which means you've several options each day and that makes it non-linear. You're free to explore as much as you like and I'm pretty sure it'll get even more "sandbox" in future updates. Overall, the gameplay is very nicely done for a renpy game.

Graphics

The render quality is good and it goes well with this game. The animations are great and you can tell that the dev worked a lot to make these. Even though I'm not that into graphics, i personally very appreciated the render models, expressions, backgrounds and everything else.

Quite boring in my opinion. If you enjoy pixel hunting for clues in order to unlock scenes, so that you can grind those scenes to unlock more scenes, and then pixel hunt some more, then this is the game for you. The game is very time consuming and is plagued with "sandbox" curse that plagues nearly all sandbox eroticas.. In that it is extremely time consuming and most likely you will get bored from the tedious gameplay before any actual scene shows up.

Sex scenes in the game are not complex and are nothing special, they mainly consist of groping or a dick in a pussy/ass whatever but no real movement.

I like how the game mixes story, humor and gameplay.
One big aspect of this game is solving puzzles by sleuthing (doing detective work!) All this is embedded in a mysterious story plot.
And the sidekick in this game is the most hilarious (in a good way) sidekick I have seen in an adult game or even non-adult games – and sympathic.
The renders are pretty and the animations are decent enough. The writing is excellent, as far as I am able to judge this as a non-native speaker.

One game I keep coming back to. It sticks to the Medieval setting and doesn't drift. The bugs gets ironed out pretty quickly and there are generally not any. anyway. I like the skewed humor contained in the game even though the NTR hating assholes don't but screw them. Most of the NPCs I find tolerable unlike most of the games/visual novels here. First and foremost there is a story here and I like a good story.

I've played a lot of games now. I love this game because of its originality in the gameplay. The story is intriguing too but what got me hooked to this game is the puzzles you need to solve which aren't that easy to solve. Also, the graphics of the game are pretty good though not the best. I'd like to give it a 4.5 but it isn't in the option. I'm giving it a 5 because it's definitely more than a 4. This game really needs to be out there at the leagues of Big brother and Dating my Daughter. I'd say the gameplay is better than even Big Brother.

Now please, hear me out I have not played the recent version of this game nor will I, but I did play a very early version a few months ago. So, with that in mind, this game is still 5 stars as since back then, it has been the only game that made me super, super excited to see more of, I don't want to play it before it's released fully because it was just so perfect and I want to experience it start to finish in all its refined glory.

It hit all the nails right on the head and just stuck with me till now. I can recall so many things I liked about the game and in pretty vivid detail both the side, and main plot points. I typically forget these within a few days for most games, even if I enjoyed them at the time. But the writing and interest building this game does is on another level. I remember sneaking out into alleys to see where my sister goes, even remember her meeting someone, I remember training up in the courtyard with two characters that I enjoyed reading about, I remember thinking I wanted to sleep fuck the sister who shared a room (another room? either way it was close to the MC's bed) and getting the shopkeeper to try on dresses. I remember so much and I've not touched this game in months.

If that's not a huge nod to the quality of the game, I have no idea what is.

A game that requires a little reading and management for days, each day you have to follow a unique route and know exactly what to do because if you get lost you could get stuck and have to start all over again. Unfortunately this is one of the negative points I have about the game since if I forget to do something I will have to start all over again because otherwise there will be no progress. Overall, it has good scenes and good characters, you need to read in detail or look for a walkthrough to be able to play and this ends up being a little frustrating.

Long Live The Princess (LLtP) is great game for those looking for an engaging story of mystery and intrigue supported by some interesting characters. I picked up this game originally because I enjoy the corruption genre and expected some sort of mind-control magic/drug to do the corruption which is the case in LLtP. Although I came for the corruption and the H-scenes, I stayed because I wanted to find out more about the narrative.

Visually LLtP is very easy on the eyes. The renders/models are gorgeous and unique. Each character has a distinct visual charm to them and as a result make each character quite memorable. The environments look exactly how I’d expect in a low fantasy, medieval setting. The town features very brown, grey palette. Juxtaposed against the forest lush green, alive and fresh it amplifies the blandness of the town and the liveliness of the forest. Outside these two environments we don’t get much variety but may be purely a design decision on the developer’s part. The H-scenes are hot and great, the ability to change camera is fun however some angles are a little strange sometimes (thinking of one of Samarra’s scenes). While we are on the topic of scenes, there is a gallery scene that can be accessed from the main menu, strangely uncommon in most of the games I’ve played which have required me to enter a save file before replaying scenes. Love this.

Game plays like a point’n’click game and visual novel, there isn’t much depth to it. Jump in and start the story straight away. I played an earlier version where navigation was done through a menu which was super annoying, now most of the navigation is completed through a map system, super awesome thank you adding this in. Without a walkthrough, I can see the game taking very long time to get to the latest update, not many hints on where to go next and players may find themselves scrabbling around.

Story is super interesting; the king has died and the princess will have her coronation in your town. Murder, mysteries and conspiracies are all apart of the plot. The clues used to unravel corruptible girls add to the mystery and interesting way to build up suspense and curiosity. Some might find it a lazy way but it fits incredibly well with protagonists skill set. Skill building is important to this game because some progression is locked behind it however going out to train these skills can be annoying (no way to skip previously seen dialogue). Most of the characters you interact with have interesting back stories, motivations and desires and uncovering them is one of my favourite parts of the game (I enjoy gossip irl too). The constant bantering between Belle and the protagonist is definitely one of my favourite parts of the game, their chemistry is great, lots of back and forth, side jabs, front jabs and snide remarks when warranted. Can’t wait for more!

• New Content: There's no indicator as to whether or not upgrading a skill point will unlock some new content unless you try it, which can lead to failing something several times.

Oh boy, im in love with this game. I started it pretty late around 10 pm and just wanted to try it. i ended with a night with little to no sleep at 6 am.

Positive:
The free roaming is a lot of fun.
While the scenes and the overall style seems a bit weird at first after playing one of the more colorful VN's it fits the overall style of the fantasy setting and game very well. You will get used to it. And you will love the scenes.
The Spellcasting, searching for clues to break the minds of the NPC's is a pretty great idea. The progress the MC makes in becoming a better caster feels well paced and maxing out your stats is a nice way of progress. Storywise MC grows from a really weird boring wanker to a sexual wizard having it really hard to spare its cum for three days. You will catch what im trying to say when you play the game. What you should, reader!
Belle is the kind of sidekick you wished Navi (OoT) was.
Every girl feels unique and interesting confronting you with new challenges of getting clues what they are on about.
I liked one part where you had to solve a problem in a limited time. i hope there will be more of those in the future to make the time part more important. (Edit: Yes, there will be! That's part of the concept.)

Neutral:
I dont think any (bad) choices have big consequences yet. But what I read about and of Belle (not the sidekick) im sure these things will be implemented. In its current state (v0.23) you can pretty much do what you want and explore every possible maybe not that smart decision without seeing the consequences.
Part of this is the whole "molesting girls in their sleep" thing. It felt kinda odd at the beginning and I had no (negative) consequences about it. I hope there will be some kind of little/big suspicions of the girls.
And im curious whats about to happen when the main plot will roll into town.

v.0.26 update: I've sticked with the project in the last few months and i have to say that the pace and quality of the updates is very good. Sure, they are a bit short, but the animations and story are worth it. It's probably still one of the best VN's you can get. I catch myself that i play the game from the start to try out different paths from time to time and what i read about the concept of the finished game is that this possibility becomes a feature to engage you to play the game multiple times. Not yet implemented, but it will come. The Dev still hasnt lost his/her passion and love for the big project LLTP is. You feel it with every new content patch.

Im more than ever looking forward to the great finale or at least the next update. Thank you!

You are forced through dozens and dozens and dozens of lines of dialogue on a standstill image - and it's not even good dialogue, but filler convos so the game seems bigger.

The visuals are a-ok, but nothing revolutionary or tremendous. No post-processing, no filters, just a screenshot.

Storyline is bland and nonsensical, but whatever, it's a porn game.

H-scenes are depicted in terrible angles, awkward positions and a rate of frames that doesn't keep up with most recent games.

The MC is an introverted, mediocre, bland idiot from A to Z, with no progress what-so-ever throughout the story. I am completely sure the MC lacks a brain, as his confusion, awkwardness and dumbound demeanor are present all the time.

The creator presumes we lack a brain too - you're given a tutorial, hints and tips until like 2h into the game.

Summary: A game that I'd give a maximum of 3 stars in 2016, but we're in the second half of 2019. Keep up with the times rather than milking people on your Patreon.

Interesting story concept that well delivered so far.

Well laid out sandbox game with limited stat building (6 max and most are developed as story progresses), so I advise against using console commands. Also only a few stats with each girl that dependent on girls personality and again none need to be very high to progress. There is no grind needed at all.

Lots of options in each girls arc and clearly a lot of decisions that going to impact each girls ending. Yes it is an assumption but seems pretty obvious that we not just influencing game end for MC but where each of girls endings. I advise against trusting walkthrough except if stuck simply to many decisions that have consequences way down track though using it to get a feel for the game might not be a bad idea.

Most of game pretty obvious and simple and Belle gives a ton of clues amongst her endless humor.

Love the variety in renders and the distinct lack of oversize tits. As an itty bitty lover very happy with the small and regular tits with only two of women having large tits. The animations are clever, they are mostly simple but they are linked together through player preference with multiple angles. to make a great full scene.

Great characters that really developed well and no brainless cock addicted bimbos.

Impressive amount of content I couldn't finish it all in one sitting.

There is a plot to the story and the mechanics for solving mysteries/secrets is rather ingenious. I've not seen it in a game before myself. It was intuitive and the UI makes it an easy mechanic to use as a player.

The game shows exactly how to create an open world Visual novel, with no grinding. yes you do have to repeat some tasks to increase your abilities but because you only have to do these tasks a couple of times each the grind is eliminated. With agility the stat you have to level up the most you alternate between two characters teaching you so the events don't repeat themselves much at all. While some scenes do repeat over and over like working there are enough random events to help with this.

The games weakness is the dated animations. The stills are great but that isn't a big deal in 2019 as almost every game has great renders. The characters in the game are varied in personality, and appearance. And characters vary in how willing they are to pursue a sexual relation with you.

Worth you time and effort to download this game.

8/2019 is the first time I have taken a look at LLtP so I cannot speak on how the game has progressed but I enjoy almost everything about this story. The effort that has been put into each relationship is refreshing and the fact that conversations change as you learn different tidbits is quite entertaining.

I only have a couple minor negatives and some of it I know has to do with the story still being developed. Some quest requirements aren't exactly clear, ie The Crone, I thought I had to enchant six new women instead of just deepening the bond.
