Ren'Py - Completed - Long Live the Princess [v1.0.1] [Belle]

After seeing the high rate at which this game was reviewed, I decided to give it a try despite not being super keen on 3dcg models. Here's what I found somewhat lacking, and what I found to be exceptional. Bad news first:

-The models of the women's faces hail to the gobbo name that was given on a site that should not be named.
-Belle, your fairy sidekick that follows you almost literally everywhere, made me go "ugh, great. I'm going to have to be putting up with a lot of extra text"
-Slight Spoiler about NTR: You have a sister that is conducting negotiations with a man for your town. I don't like NTR, but I don't care that she sleeps with him to help the town. I'd just prefer, after making the choice to let it happen, to have an ability to not have to watch.
-This game is really pretty involved and long, and after taking just a couple of day's break from the game, at times I wouldn't remember what all I was supposed to be doing.
-Sex scenes are not fluid, in that they still progress frames at a time; most scenes appear to have about 5 frames each.

Notice, though, that I gave this game 4 stars. That is because despite what I have written above, it is really nit-picky. Overall, the game shines and stands out, in that:

-The story, investigating, and social interactions are actually very involved and pretty well thought out. Because of this:
-It feels like an actual game without grind; I feel somewhat pulled to continue the game, which makes it feel very professionally done.
-Belle actually grows on you in time, and her character is consistent despite being annoying for the first week you have her along.
-The sex scenes allow you to change perspective, so that I do not have to have the faces in frame
-Characters are all unique and very easy to become absorbed in
-Mind Control and Sleep Play are done pretty well
-Pacing is actually pretty well done too.

If the creator can give the girls better faces, and more fluid sex scenes, it's an easy 5/5. To be fair, the game is still in v.18 and is leagues ahead of what I was expecting; I've spent several hours on it already. Just in a sex game, poor models and sex scenes are hard to cover up. Love the game, and look forward to watching it progress.

The only game with free-roam elements apart from BADIK that I don't mind playing - because Belle has obvious experience and talent with designing a functional and interesting user experience. This is basically like a fantasy Ace Attorney with lewds. The renders are good, the 'gamey' parts are well made and actually pretty fun. Most of all, the characters are interesting and I really enjoy Belle's(the in game one) vulgar banter, which makes it all the better when she gets into a serious mood.

The only thing I didn't care for, personally are the "night scenes" where you act like a creepy pervert. I really never cared for this part of many other prominent VNs. It never felt arousing to me to do this, and usually goes against me immersing myself into the shoes of the MC(coz I don't want to be a pervert. I wanna be a goody two shoes hero). HOWEVER, even here the incessant yet hilarious poking and prodding from Belle gets me in the mood to do some stealthy ogling. Belle is truly great.

Note About NTR TAG: This is completely avoidable. Essentially, if you don't actually want to protect your sister from NTR, then NTR happens. If you do, it won't.

In summary, Long Live the Princess is worth your attention and time (and patreonship), especially given how industrious Belle is at updating.

Excelent! One of the best games on the website for sure. Why 5 stars? Well theres a lot of reason but im not gonna list all of it. So the game gets updated every month and you can play the game without spending money. It will take you more or less than 2 hours to finish the current version without any walkthrough (theres a lot of game content that I don't wanna mention, just try it lol) Lastly a passionate dev who cares about the game and the community (the dev works hard which is kinda worrying but we are lucky to have great dev)

Honestly I hope the game gets more publicity because I only found the game on this site myself. Thats it... just try the game, its worth it.

The perfect marriage between Phoenix Wright and Adult games!

Exactly as the title suggests this game plays with 'clues' in order to advance the story and it's an innovative and brand new idea that enhances storytelling while it doesn't draw away from the fact that you play it to fap. Well deserving of the 4.5 score it has.

The renders are great, the characters feel real and their stories are engaging (while it takes some work to get to the lewd stuff the h-scenes feel like they were earned) while the overall humor keeps things lighthearted.

There is more than enough 'fappable content' to get things started and for a game that's been in development for almost 2 years now, it's on a very good course.

I have updated my review and gave the game 5 stars! The incest storyline between the MC and his sister played out very nicely! Looking forward to future updates involving their story.

Now stop wasting your time reading this and just play it already!

Well written original story with lots of depth. The quest system is the first I have encountered in a visual novel. The renders are good and each of the characters looks distinctly different from the others.

UPDATE: As of December 2022 I had the displeasure of playing (and this time, finishing) the game again.

While some issues were ironed over, the endgame and epilogue managed to leave a horrid taste in my mouth that made me regret playing it in the first place.

You are required to raise the relationship with multiple (if not all) main girlds to the level they're madly in love with you, else you fail and everyone dies. If you manage to do that, you'll then be forced to pick one girl and break the hearts of the rest, or go "evil", brainwash (almost) all of them (as if that wasn't EXACTLY what you've been doing up until that point) to get a "evil harem" ending with detailed description of how powerhungry and selfish you are. Except for one character who'll escape, loathe you forever and plot your murder, because fuck you.

But regardless of which ending you pick, you'll be rewarded with one, maybe 2 unique renders for your chosen girl (or the "harem"), and an additional 1-2 renders/main girl with a couple of lines/girl explaining what an asshole you are.
That's it. All of it.
I can see that thought was put into the story and certain aspects of the game, and yet the epilogues feel so incredibly lacking it's embarrassing.

But at least now there's a "new game plus" mode where you can experience all the sad endings all over again for minor benefits. Yay.

Not only was it disappointing, but also nonsensical considering the fact that, again, you've been brainwashing them throughout the game, this is one of the cases where a proper happily-ever-after harem ending would've made a lot of sense. But actually being forced to break hearts, even if you'd actually be okay with just picking one girl without baiting the rest?

Thanks, but no thanks, not what I signed up for.

4.5+ TRULY UNIQUE!

Interesting and engaging story with elements of investigation and blackmail combined. Setting and lore are very rare and unique as well, I mean when was the last time you played the game in medieval times? Plus, an actual meaningful stat system that gates content, but in a good way.

Models are beautiful and characters have unique personalities that are open to be built on further. UI is pleasant and overall artstyle adds to positive sparkle to a bored eye.

Variety of H scenes combined with ability to repeat them, that appear in steady pace as you play through the story. Another great feature is an ability to do naughty things at night, which also bound to stats and get better as you progress.

Definitely worth adding to favorites and recommending to you and your friends.

Definitely above average for a porn game, this one actually has some gameplay mechanics in it that aren't obnoxious QTEs or pixel hunts. They are actual puzzles that you need to solve by paying attention to the dialog and sneaking into bedrooms at night to steal diaries and whatnot.

The core game mechanic is gathering clues so you can magically blackmail the girls into being more slutty for you. There is one part of the game where the solution to the puzzle is timed so you need to actually pay attention and not just click the advance time button. The game is currently incomplete, but the main character story arcs appear to be about 1/3 to 2/3 complete or so and there is a reasonable amount of adult content, albeit mostly near the end of the game as is typical in these sorts of games.

The graphics are decent. They're pretty heavily compressed but that does keep the download size quite reasonable. Some of the scenes are a bit on the dark side. Overall it's passable but nothing to write home about.

The writing is definitely above average with generally believeable motivations (mostly) and an actual sense of purpose.

The girls are cute. None of them have obnoxious proportions which is nice. If you want to see tits that hang down past their waist this is not the game for you.

The sex content is pretty predatory. The main character breaks into houses to molest girls at night, uses magical blackmail to get them to do stuff they otherwise won't do, abuses narcoleptic bathing girls, and is generally bad at getting consent. There is some consensual content as well, mostly with the faeries but it's not as common.

One interesting thing with the girls is just how unavailable most of them are. The nerdy librarian's shyness isn't so bad, but the other characters include your sister who is completely opposed to incest, a lesbian, a 3 inch tall faerie, and a knight/squire who have a job to do.

There is a lot of reading in this game, and it comes one line at a time so you'd better be willing to click that mouse like crazy to keep it moving along.

Overall this game is excellent. Well worth the 5-7 hours it would take to figure everything out (which probably involves restarting the game after you get the librarian arrested), or the 2-3 hours it takes to play a "perfect" game with a walkthrough.

The "good but not top" graphics compensate with a great story and rpg freedom.
The taboo gameplay are just like you dream of it and there's a story like we love it, cool but soft enought to concentrate on why we are playing ^^

The fact that I never post in the forum, but I'm doing one now should tell you all that you need to know. However, I will say that if I could, I'd give this game a 6 - quality content with at least semi interesting decisions, really good characters, excellent scenes and very supportive/receptive dev.

The story is good and choices can be made, but when you finish the version you want more, to continue and certain stage it asks for the latest version.
I think creator creates one step ahead and wraps it under the hood so that among players there is a curiosity for playing and unwills when he wants.

Loved it.really enjoyed the game and characters it has a lot of good ideas, belle was definitely my favourite character and I'd love to see more content with her like maybe you could find away to shrink or something.

The gamplay itself is pretty fun, one of the funner ones on this site. It is all about gathering clues and solving misteries which can be pretty entretaining. The models themselves arent bad either, although they pale in comparison to other more high budget games in here too.

My main problem are the erotic scenes. There are simply not that many of them, and they are rather lacking in content and quality. The amount of time you need to invest to get to them is highly disproportionate to the quality and content of the scene. It is like the game is constantly building up to this clamatic mystery resolution and then, you are rewarded with this crappy short erotic event.

Overall, I think this is a good game but definetely more driven towards story and gameplay rather than erotism, which is not why we are here are we?

I started playing this game thinking it as a standart erotic visual novel. Soon I found myself invested in the world and characters. The game's systems are great, it is not grindy at all. CG models are beautiful and camera angles are thought out very well.

One of the best games around, "Long Live the Princess" brings you an engrossing story in which you must improve yourself. Not just for points though, you're constantly learning in there, and absolutely every detail matters, as information is all around for you to solve several things happening, from finding a criminal to getting into someone's panties.
The navigation system is just fine, taking almost no time to get into somewhere. There are a lot of events happening, which makes you never skip a part of the day. Some hints to find them would make it even better.
The characters are very well-built: each one has a very singular behavior, making the conversations feel very organic, especially with the pixie and all its humorous conversation. Other ones are more of a hard shell, like Primrose, a very closed girl who's not used to many social interactions, and the main character himself, who needs to build up his confidence during the story.
In terms of image quality, no complaints. The poses are also very organic, and there's no exaggeration in color vibrance, characters physic attributes, etc., which is a huge plus in my opinion.
This game may not please some players due to its huge amount of content and relatively slow build-up, plus the non-stop attention required to gather all possible clues, but, still, it all worth it.

For me it's a 5/5.

This game has great 3D models and sex scenes but what really makes it unique is the great story and well written and funny dialogues. (Belle especially.)
While the story is nowhere near competition, there is quite a lot of content in the game already.

All around great game. The renders and "siuations" are good and there's a solid number of them. The writing is great, and often times quite amusing. It's hard to comment on the story yet, as it needs more time to develop, but it's doing all right so far.

The sidekick is kinda boring, but there's an awesome pixie to make up for him.

Fucking fantastic! The dialog is funny and the plot is well thought out. The only complaint is that the "O" face of the girls. Most of the time, they don't have one, except for Belle of course. I can't wait for the next update. BIG fan! Thanks for the good work you put in.

I seriously liked what the dev has done so far.
I used the WT and will be trying to do it without after a few weeks and see if I can get similar results. Some of these novels are not intuitive and can get messy or frustrating without some hints. Why I loved the Pixie she is like the cellphone for MotH. Gives you some help or not so much help depending.
Can't wait for more.
