Funny thing about the way I write dialogue is that I don't really feel like I'm the one writing it if you get what I mean. Once I get into the flow, the characters seem to write their own lines. A lot of writers talk about this phenomenon, and it's really weird to experience it for yourself.
Can't really say I've experienced it for writing, but I do have similar experiences when roleplaying a Warhammer character for example. The character does more of the 'speaking' rather than me trying to figure out.. Now, what would my character do/say in this situation.

I imagine the primary reason for this would be having a well established character, so you don't have to think too much about what would they do/say since you pretty much already know based on their traits/experience/goals etc.

I do actually get that. I play D&D and I've done things that go against my or my party's goals because my it wouldn't be something my character would do. To the point where I spent 2 hrs creating a blind female monk who decided she actually wouldn't go on the adventure cause the barbarian fighter in the party decided groping her ass would be a great way to introduce them self.

It's more than that though. What I'm talking about can result in you writing a bit of dialogue where someone suddenly tells a joke that makes you break into laughter because you, as the writer, didn't expect that joke at all. It's a character suddenly revealing a tragic past that you were completely unprepared for, forcing you to rewrite part of the story to accommodate it. It's a character using words and phrasings that you never use yourself, and not because you're forcing the character to do it.

Like I said, it's weird. ;)

I assume the game loops back towards the beginning with at least some stats intact after you hit the time limit.

After playing this game I don't really see why people complained about the lack of dialogue choices. Sure, you couldn't choose between the events yet, but the signs that you can do so in future versions was there.
The scene with the diplomat (Thadeus) seemed a bit long, maybe add a "courage" option to ask him about whether he's pursueing the MC's sister or sth. like that.

That said I really liked the rest of the game. Sure this "do x activities every day" style is not new, but it works very well in other games so I'm glad it's here as well.
It's a bit like a detective game, but with naughty things which is awesome! Like when you're about to get frustrated because you can't find any clues just go and face-fuck someone to let off steam, then continue searching. When playing a normal detective game I have to minimize a browser and search for porn first, taking me out of the story and causing an unnecessary delay.
Joking aside I think this game has great potential, looking forward for updates. I can see myself supporting this on patreon if there's enough new content coming regularely.

I have to say this. Usually when I play these games I try to find the skip button just to get through the dialogues, in this game I didn't once. This is a very well written story and the "secrets" aspect of the game seems very interesting. Looking forward for the next update...

I'm going to keep in on hold for a bit. Definitely will try it out when more content is available.

I've come to realize, since yesterday's release, that the 0.1 version number is kind of scaring people away, and I can certainly understand why.
For this specific issue, there's not a lot you can do, unfortunately. People are going to hate on your releases no matter what, so just do what feels right, and keep an eye on the feedback. Personally, I think a good idea would be to follow what Baal(SuperPowered) did and set a development roadmap, decide ahead of time what order you want to work on content, assign a version number to each step, and then stick to that.

Yes, that is the plan. You can see my intent here with all the dialogue options you have during the tutorial that are impossible to achieve since you don't have the required stats. These are there for the second playthrough.

Thank you! I take writing very seriously, so I'm glad that someone appreciates it. :)

really enjoyed this, Kinda felt like i was phoenix wright with some medieval fantasy mixed in.
That's precisely the kind of vibe I'm going for, so I love hearing people say that.

Yeah, that's my instinctive approach to development. Map everything out and follow a plan. I don't think that's a good way to do things with this project though. I'm doing crowdfunding now, and I do honestly want my patrons to have some influence over the direction I take things. If I set my plans in stone at this stage, it becomes harder for me to listen to the suggestions I receive.

As for the "hate", while it is impossible to filter it out completely, I know it will (has) come, what it truly represents, and why I should disregard it. However, the response to this game has been much better than I had expected so far, so things are good so far. :)

Looks quite promising and a lot of work based on the amount of variations envisioned, I suppose. I hope it turns out fine though.
Oh and I think I'm in love with Belle.XD

She's my favorite character. :) I just love writing dialogue for her. I approach her lines like she almost knows that she's in a computer game but doesn't really give a shit. She is going to be the most unique character in the game in terms of how her story advances.

The very first line of dialogue I wrote in my design document a long time ago was for her. We haven't reached that bit of dialogue in the game yet, but I can't wait to add it. It really defines her as a character. I just hope people will find her as hilarious as I do. :)

That's the only time this is going to happen in the game though. The rest of it will be quite lengthy (imagine roughly 30 days with 3 events per day) and increasingly interactive.
Yeah, I get that. I was just worried that if my comments about early interactivity could be read as "I want all the sex, right from the start" then I hadn't explained my point very well. Not that you made that assumption, incidentally.

Hell, it's not even as if there was a shortage of titillation. Admittedly, Dickon's hand shandy there doesn't do anything for me, but that's not a criticism; it's just not one of my kinks.

I went back and forth with that scene. I hadn't initially planned on including it, but once I started writing the sleeping scene with Evelyn, I saw no way around it. I do keep it brief since I assume most people won't care about it. On the other hand, it will have a payoff later, and I don't think it will take all that long for us to reach that point either.

Looking back at it, I'm sure some players look at that scene like I'm trolling them, considering it's the most sexual scene in the current version while not involving a single girl. ;)
