Good stuff. Looks and feels more natural than superpowered. And maybe the characters won't make that weird face when they go "obsesive" 
There is grind, but justified in my opinion. Maybe with a little more events in between transitions it gets easier to endure.
p.s. If Baal is reading, could you add just a tiny drop of mind control? Not like a superpower, but hypno, subliminal, etc. stuff. Man, that would be great.
