I haven't played this in several months, apparently since January (I played a few months after but the save files ONLY end in January), so maybe that's why I don't remember what happened prior to Act III beginning, no saying more than that to avoid spoilers.
So I downloaded 2 again, and still, nothing remains fresh in my memory.
Most of what I am loading I have done a couple of times before.
So if I remember correctly my save files are located on my computer rather than in a folder within the game.
I would like to access them, instead of virtually having to start again, but...perhaps that's just the best idea after all.
Save files are here:
%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Droid Productions/Love of Magic

Do note that
Book 1 is Act I - VI
Book 2 is Act VII-XI
Book 3 is Act XII-XVI

So if you only played up to Act III you've still got half of Book 1 left to go, starting on Book 2 would likely be confusing :)

Did unity fuck you over???

I so wish I had made a million dollars on this game so they could try to fuck me over ;)

But no. I'm on a pro license (for reasons), and I'd need to exceed $1,000,000 USD in total revenue for the game (well, for each of the 3 books, since they're different products) to get fucked. Which means I'm safe, for now.

Sadly.

(Also, fuck'em for trying to retroactively insert this clause into their contract; tier 1 scummy behavior)

Well, with the amount of garbage being released non stop, and the removal of most, if not all, games with loli content that'll more than likely happen very soon and very quickly due to Westy's arrest in Australia, you may well end up being in the top tier of a very short list as far as quality porn game goes...

Who knows, you may well end up making your million(s) "soon." :D

Oh I remember the battle of the first books end very well, I meant book 3 rather than Act 3.
Book 3 I am playing with a character save from Book 2 so I am guessing I finished that one, though I dont recall the ending, OR how I ended up where I began in Book 3.
Wait, did book 3 end with a certain "Nuke" and a sacrifice for the delivery?
If so I DO remember that, BUT still do not recall how I ended up in Book 3 beginning.

I'm really happy that you didn't get fucked over by the bull that unity is trying to pull, hope to play book 3 once it is complete, very fun even if my poker hands suck ;-;
Unless that ex-Electronic Arts refuse backtracks hard (and I don't see it happening), we're all getting fucked sideways.

The only way they can enforce per-installation fees is to monitor said installations, because apparently "random sampling" of hardware/software fingerprinting in their core code (that developers couldn't even get answers on when trying to address) that was going on before was nothing compared to what they will need to do now to keep accurate accounting.

On the upside, maybe they'll go "always-online" authentication way and kill themselves so someone less dicky takes over the market share.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and wish Droid the necessity of having to actually address that problem down the line (new pricing doesn't kick in until you're past $200,000). LoM definitely deserves more exposure. Keep lurking and occasionally checking till book 3 gets done for the compleat experience, and re-reading Dresden Files in the meantime, heh.

Did I miss an update? My book 3 ended after a certain battle..without the activity you mentioned, just different versions of 2 key characters maybe...I can't say much since I do not want to spoil anything
I think you haven't played book 3 yet :)

(edit: actually, sorry, I misread that... you're just missing the final Act of it. In the Steam submission queue and on Development branch right now).

i played through the first book back when it was the only thing out and loved it. now that book 3 is almost out, i'm playing through it all again. it's so good droid, really loving it. your characters are better characters than a lot of those in AAA games. really looking forward to finishing the love of magic saga and to whatever you do next :)

So are ya'll worried at all about the whole unity shitshow?
Yup, I am worried, since a game I was looking forward to has to revert to Ren'py and drop features. Droid on the other hand is relatively safe for now, since he use a version of Unity allowing him more leeway than he needs right now. The devs I follow on Twiter/X have been prety vocal about it. At least the ones that do or were planning to work with Unity.

It is a shame since Droid and Love of magic thought me to appreciate what Unity can bring to the AVN ecosystem.

And I hope my post wont get deleted for saying this but: Fuck John Riccitiello!

Is there a Unity game here on F95 that has enough fans that it might run afoul of the new rules?
Good question. I don't check for download stats. But if they can't identify a pirated copy from a legit one and they all count the same, and then an update a month. It doesn't take a lot of people downloading your game to reach the threshold. And one of the threshold is lifetime download from the time of implementation. Then devs will want to keep everyone with an updater rather than a new install. But even then, fuckups can still happen.

I wonder if different versions — in this release, Emily's the princess of Camelot and the redhead's a vampire...in this release, Esme's the princess of Atlantis and the redhead's a werewolf — might get away with stuff. Probably not but who knows? And while I know Droid has a license that's going to save him and this game unless his popularity explodes (which I would normally be for), it's just a shitty thing for Unity to do. I checked all the super-popular games about which I care and didn't see any likely targets, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Hence my question.

The real question is how the fuck is Unity knowing how many installs there are and where in the process do they collect data. depending on when, it could be a serious breach of privacy for the end user and many Europeans country will retaliate against that. If it is not on the end user device that they check for the install of a Unity software then it is in the download/upload process I imagine (not a computer science guy) and that can bring in an other full can of worms. No mather the method, I can't think of an accurate method of identifying an installation without entering in a contract with the end user and I don't know if a third party can deny you access to your purchase. In this case you want to install or decompress a copy of LoM that you bought on your computer they ask you for data you say no, can they legally deny you access to your product?
