He also cares for her but in a different way - same as her attitude towards him.
A&Z really truly love him (on the love path) whereas Linda is more like a (albeit motherly) cougar.
She has seen him grow up, even helped raise him along w/ her own kids but alas - she doesn't see him as an equal partner.
He has now grown up, he is "cute", has a huge dick and may serve to fill a void (pardon the pun - SCNR) left by her absent husband but that's about it. No basis whatsoever for a "real" partnership, an IRL "couple".

I really enjoy your game, Ava is a wonderful character, i usually hate NTR game but in that game it's make sense if you choose to be a manwhore you will have to face the consequences

Arriving just at the right time and saving the damsel in distress was such a deus ex machinae white knight move, it just put him in the white knight category for me.
Yes, the dev stated that the development of the characters and story don't match with his original idea of NTR anymore, and that's fine. He shouldn't shoehorn anything in the story that doesn't fit.
If I wrote this story, I would insert an antagonist, however, I don't, so what works in this story is up to the dev and he already stated that NTR will only happen if MC cheats; if at all: tbh, I can't see Ava actively and willingly hurting MC in this way, so maybe there won't even be "counter cheating".
I think for good NTR to work, you have to dive deep into the personalities of the characters and my examples (exploiting kindness, guilt tripping, caring for somebody else, being attracted to a "copy" or exploring other desires with the opposite of a nice guy) were aimed at Ava. So this idea that she would never cheat on him because she is so much into him; this personality trait could be countered by these flaws. But, as already stated, it's not my story, so these examples and the direction might not work with what the dev has in mind.
Yes, well, Ava would obviously be the hardest part. The rest of the cast could follow a similar pattern. The amount of harem games should make it obvious that "One guy to rule them all" is not such an alien and far fetched concept.
