You should add an option to just buy a full release via paypal. I don't wanna use Patreon.
Well, the full release is not for anytime soon haha. Patreon and SubscribeStar are mainly here to support the development of the project. But thanks for your interest! ♥
I love Steam haha.
Steam kinda sucks for this. They take 30% of your sales, and while their big user base can help, it doesn’t matter much for niche stuff like adult games. Most people don’t go to Steam looking for that kind of content anyway.
That's a fair point. But the biggest "bad side" of things is that once you have launched on Steam, you need to make two versions of the game: one for Steam (with the API integration) and one standalone.
Making builds already take me days, can even take a week if the build is made for Linux and Mac too. So if I had to double that amount of work, I would simply put half of my time into just making builds, haha.
TL;DR: Releasing a version on Steam would add a layer of work that I just can't have to get the project where it needs to be as a solo-dev. We could discuss this after v1.0 is out haha.
I'll be happy to pay 30% more on Steam and having centralized auto-updates and update news on top of my library, I don't want to waste my time going to every source of news and updates on the internet.

Having the public release on Steam is already on the roadmap for v1.1:
v1.1 - REFINED + STEAM LAUNCH
- This version will be compatible with mods made with future tools
- Fine-tuning every aspect, perfecting the smallest details
- Making this the most stable and optimized version of Lucid Lust
- Launching the public version on Steam as a Demo (Girl's Creator only)
But the full application, with all of the creator tools, the full commercial licensing, etc. is, at the moment, not even valued. I couldn't even put a price on the app as an engine, and that's why paying (AKA supporting) the project with a $5 for the latest update felt right. But I fully understand where you are coming from, I love Steam, and I think that the easy accessibility of our games/apps library is top-tier design. Also, you could imagine support for several things like cloud saving for character cards and scenarios, Steam Workshop support for mods, etc.
Here is a quote from me on my Discord server:
When using Lucid Lust, as a user, you are not legally able to extract/export 3D models of the characters. Most assets are under an interactive license, which means that I can do whatever I want with these assets commercially, as long as I don't give the ability to retrieve them as 3D models. Imagine if you could do that, you would simply buy any 3D model, then sell it for less money than the guy you bought it from, infinite money glitch haha.
So for me (dev):
I can sell my game however I want, and create my own rule around what you can do or cannot with the renders made in Lucid Lust (limited to the rules of the interactive licensing, of course).
My rule is to give you as much freedom as possible haha!
And for you (paid customer):
You can 100% make 2D renders, videos, etc. in Lucid Lust and do whatever you want with them, including commercial projects, videos, paid gallery, Patreon, etc.
You can also sell your scenarios to be played directly inside Lucid Lust, what you are selling is no more than a very big savefile, this way bypassing any possible interactive licensing terms limitations. You are not using any of my assets by doing this, you are using my game entirely.
You can, of course, also make paid mods, paid character cards, etc. I don't have all the possibilities in mind, but if you can do it without decompiling Lucid Lust, then you're free to do it and to ask for money.
The things you will be able to create will only get better with time of course, since v1.0 is still not for tomorrow. But, even if I didn't make the rules black on white yet (because I already put all my time in the project haha), I can assure you that it's already there. You already detain 100% commercial rights of the renders you make in Lucid Lust, that's why I'm making that damn project in the very first place: empowering the creative minds!
TL;DR: I have all the rights to my 3D assets, you have all the rights to their 2D renders + anything else made from scratch (scenario files, character cards, etc.).
Lucid Lust quick question is there a public road map for releases? Like how close are we to 0.5?
Yup, the roadmap is now public, unique, and centralized on the about section of the Patreon:
You must be registered to see the links
This way, I can change/update it easily whenever I want, and anyone can check it!
Now, to bump the thread with some pictures like always haha!
Here are some screenshots made by a very talented Mac user, made in v0.4 (latest Mac version, so with the old graphics, old skin shader, old hair system, etc.):
Again, this was done in v0.4, so the "Before" of the "Before/After" of the last trailer, it's just crazy.
I really can't wait to see what he will be able to make once a new Mac version comes out haha! I still don't know if he is going to make a commercial project with his scenario(s)/renders, but I sure do hope so. I'm already in contact with several people who are planning to make commercial projects with LL, and I can't wait to play with them! But first, I need to make it happen!
Thanks a lot for your interest in my project, and as always, have a great day! ♥
