Why sandbox tho
Well, I personally STRONGLY prefer sandbox. I respect that some others do not, but I'm not able to grasp why. Sandbox makes it a game, giving the player control over the pace and order of what happens. For me, that makes the entire experience enormously better. And with games like these, makes is so much sexier. When I'm just reading a story with little to no control of the action, I sometimes just lose interest.

I think some hate sandbox for the sake of it, but others dislike sandbox when it's done poorly. That's not the case in Lunar's Chosen (except for the early Katie points), but there are plenty of games where it's like:
  1. Go to the living room > Say yes > +1 rel for Girl A
  2. Go to the backyard > Stare at her ass > +1 lust for Girl C
  3. Go to the laundry room > "Help" her carry the basket > +1 corruption for Girl B
...and so on. This is terrible sandbox and almost always pisses a huge number of people off. The terribly done sandbox games have been so common that now the term sandbox has become synonymous for some with a bad game. It's unfortunate too, because there are games that do it incredibly well (I won't list them here) and some like this game that do it decently, so it's really no bother at all.

Bro how can you grind for 2 hours for single sex scene? VN is much more superior

If you grind that long with zero reward, then the game isn't set up very well. For me, a good game is set up so that you gradually unlock things bit by bit by what you're doing. Sexy talk/sexy clothed/nudes/then various sex acts. With various different NPCs that the player can choose how and when to bounce between, and ideally, the ability to go to the NPC and repeat the sex acts that I've already unlocked any time that I want afterwards. That's what I want, and the games that I enjoy the most. Lunar's Chosen does a pretty good job of that.

Problem of a sandbox is that balancing the "grinding" is usually quite some work and usually results in some trial and error. Also a sandbox also has the problem that many people fear they are missing some content due to not finding the correct places at the correct times. Finally, sometimes it is also quite hard to figure out what to do.

If all these things are done correctly, (like in my opinion Lunars Chosen has, only the photoshoots I think I had one time 1 photoshoot that was hard to find), then it is really awesome and I love it more than a VN. But if already 1 aspect is lacking, then I prefer a VN. So with that also directly an amazing compliment to PTGames, along with the beautiful renders and diversity of the women, the amazing fun fantasy story line and that club that is just so amazing, it's even fun to hang around when you finished all the content

If you have to play for 2 hours to get a single sex scene, that is an issue with pacing and has nothing to do with it being sandbox. The same thing can happen in a standard VN if the author decides to make the story a slow burn.
... Or it's the creator wanting to make a story with sex in it, not a freaking gonzo sex romp ? You're aware that exists, right ? Otherwise every porn game would just be a collection of animations with no text needed...

We all have our own preferences, certainly. And its good to have a very wide spectrum available to suit all interests.

Me personally, I'm not here for stories that are all that deep or meaningful. Somewhere in the middle. I want to be entertained with something thats interesting and fun, but with lots of sex, nudity and eroticism. And I badly and deeply need to be able to have some control over the pacing and order. There are some extremely well done hallway VNs that I would have liked ten times more if they were a semi-sandbox.

Well you're not gonna find what you want with this one, if you get bored if there's not regular controllable sex scenes...

I like this one. It has unique content and very likably characters. And actually, you can visit various locations and enjoy repeatable sex scenes. Not all of them, but with most of the characters. I really like to do that in between moving the story along.

Ho wait, my bad. Had multiple tabs open to check replies and I mixed this tab with Elvensang's one. Woops.

You seem to have completely missed that the point I was making was about sandbox vs. standard VN and are making a bunch of assumptions about what I like. I actually like a good story and some buildup which is why I play AVNs and don't just watch porn. However, these are still adult VNs and it's not unreasonable to expect some action without playing for hours.

I think the reason many people prefer VNs is that it's much more difficult to make a good sandbox game. Beyond the story and characters, you've also got to figure out the GUI (locations, navigation, stats display, etc.), what stats are available and important (I've played too many adult games where you spent more time managing your health, hygiene, hunger etc than you do romancing/seducing/corrupting the LIs. That's really not fun), what times of day are available(ideally once you're past the early game there should not be a time when you're skipping), whether or not an inventory is important, where are the NPC characters at what time of day, and most important (to me) what kind of hints do you give the player to help them move the story forward. Because of this, most sandboxes are executed poorly.

This sandbox is better than most but it still has its warts. However, that doesn't mean that sandboxes are bad in general, just that significantly more care needs to be put into designing them.

No doubt about that. Not that just anyone can make a VN, but its the simpler process. Just like making a 3D comic is the step before the VN.

This is 100% true and there's so many things I've learned from making Lunar's Chosen that I want to implement into my next game to make the sandbox much better.

Just because you think "adult" VNs should have sex scenes every XX minutes doesn't mean it's a rule.
Your wishes aren't a requierment.
There are plenty other games that have barely justified sex scenes every 5 minutes. Yet you come here to complain about having to suffer hours of story before you see some fucking happening...
What am I assuming wrong, again ? The idea that you complain because you want to be right and for games to cater to your liking ?

I never complained about anything; I replied to someone saying sandbox games take too long to get to the action. It appears either your reading comprehension is awful or you're just making shit up to troll. Either way, I'm done with this conversation.
