Unfortunately from what I can find out, it doesn't seem like a game error, rather it's a file/program error on your end. My only suggestion would be try downloading the game again and see if that works. If not, try unzipping the file with a different program from what you used before.

I downloaded it on my laptop and ran it normally. I dunno why it won't work on my pc. I'll try a few things.

Glad it's working, it seems it's a file compression/uncompression error, so might just be something is bugging out on your PC when you unzip it. At least you can play on the laptop!
Actually, the problem came from Windows Defender.
Since last update of Windows 10, some applications might be blocked by the option "Controlled folder access".
I got to put an exception for game.exe and run it as an administrator to finally manage to play the game.
I had the same problem a few weeks ago with a game i bought on Steam...

I know I'm going to get hate for this and that this isn't the point...
if a laptop battery is completely unusable but the laptop is plugged it, it'll work fine! I had a 2003 Pentium (edit: Pentium-based Dell laptop. Just a preemptive correction) for a while, literally had no battery in it, lasted for a good few years anyways. If it doesn't work while it's plugged in, the battery isn't the issue!

You are right, I actually did this myself not too long ago fixing a laptop for a family member, but a bust battery is easier for most people who aren't tech savvy to understand so I went with it, even if it's not really accurate.

I think quite a lot of people are going to know that a dead battery doesn't stop a laptop from working if you plug it in though, personally I would have simply not gone into any detail, can't get details wrong if there are no details there in the first place.

I can tell you from personal experience that a lot of people don't know laptops will run without a battery
Plus, I needed to say something was broken so players had something they needed to buy.

is there a walkthrough for Katie? Because i'm stuck after the sunbathe scene and the hint system is just telling me hints for serena (the message that there is no new content until the next release). Thank you in advance

I had same after loading a save from December. Starting a new game solved it though. There were a whole raft of new options after meeting Katie in the morning to look for new earrings that I never had before. Resetting her progress did not work for me though, I needed a new game.
