The same Javier who these guys are talking shit about is the same Javier who gave us those amazing arts, he might be new to this, he might have thought this would be new experience, but in the end it didn't work. In the end whatever his decision is we should respect it. Us who get these pleasures for free shall criticize the game not the people. Better hope that the continue their work.

I hope the final Chapter 5 will always be available after the new versions come out, in the first post. Can’t lose that amazing artwork!

Yeah, the artist leaving because he doesn't want to draw lewd scenes in a porn game doesn't pass the smell test for me. Especially when you consider the fact Redlolly started the project a year ago with the following statement: https://f95zone.to/threads/lust-campus-v0-4-final-fix-redlolly.64103/page-3#post-4369322

If I have to guess, the artist jumped ship because the 2.5k - 3k gross Patreon money per month they've been sitting on for the whole year wasn't enough for him. I hope the project continues and does well, but I'm not getting my hopes up, especially after the artist's departure, because the art style was the only thing that made the game stand out from the rest of the GGGB/ORS clones we see pop up from time to time.
this story smells badly as you said. javier accepted to work at porn game and now he have issue with lewd scenes. he didn't expected that while accepting job?! she knew from july this and almost 5 months later there is a drama.

now look at this: chapter 5 will be still old school. then every three months for each chapter revamp. so next progress in story (ch6) will be at summer 2023, if we are lucky. wtf?! i don't understand why she needs same time for revamped chapter as for new one. i mean basically she needs to replace drawnings. programming and script are already made, should be faster than for new chapter. with this pace game will be finished in 2025 and i can't fight the feeling that steady monthly income from patrons slowed down her productivity (as well as productivity of devs in general. money pours regulary no matter of performance and no consequences. only fair thing would be stop accepting subscriptions until revamping is finalized. or at least pay per chapter released or per major update. otherwise you are basically paying twice for same content during long 18 months period. it is up to her patron and luckily i'm not one of them. i decided, no matter of quality and potential, she is unreliable. looks like i was right.

to conclude real reason for this drama is now obvious... as deep throat said: just follow the money

This project is only kept afloat by empty promises. Javier probably knew his worth and bailed, they almost certainly had disagreements on how to split the money. Her health or the well being of her mother have nothing to do with how slow the progress has been so far. They both weren't on equal terms.
it's milking, my friend... and it is now obvious

Damn, the artwork was the main reason I was a fan of this game. The story is good, I'll give Redlolly that and I am genuinly curious about the AlicexWalker route. Hope for the best, sad to see

Why re-design the entire game, I don't see the point in it.

You could call first 4-5 chapters = Season 1.
Then start Season 2 with new art, that fits or outperforms the last standards.

Imo remaking everything that's already done is just a waste of time.
I like this idea. If there is time after the game is complete, they can go back and redesign chapters 1 through 5.

By re-designing the game or giving bogus reasons why it has to be done in the first place, she'll be able to recycle old excuses and add more problems (new characters) so it'll be easier for her to explain why the project moves slower than expected. It's her way of admitting that she doesn't have any plans for the remainder of the story. Stalling the project is her only option to make sure people remain hopeful and are willing to spend cash.

i would imagine there is a dispute between ownership of either the artwork itself or the character designs. thus, the artist leaving is retaining ownership and they have to redo it.

the sad part is the art seemed to be one of the defining factors as to why so many are interested in the game. we can only wait and see how it turns out

Best case scenario, maybe the artist got a job where their continuing to do this porn art work on the side doesn't work for them? Just hope they got a good adult art job where doing this kinda stuff on the side isn't really allowed, despite whatever drama/etc is around the re-design stuff.

Thing is, most Patreon subs will wait, or some will in any case. There's plenty of dead projects out there still taking in plenty of funds from supporters that are being taken advantage of because they're too supportive.

What also bugs me, is these developers that take weeks/months to update their supporters and just go dark. No matter how busy one is, or what's going on in one's life, there should be at least a minute or two for someone to post and update people on what's going on. At the end of the day, every single one of those projects is a business, and not informing your investors often and being transparent is shady. Or at the very least, shows a complete lack of business sense. Personal lives, too stressed to post a quick update, etc... all excuses that show a lack of business acumen/integrity.

patreon system, no matter how well intended was as a project, became giant milking scheme. simply there is no consequences for devs that are not communicating, delivering.
patreon project ceased to be place for supporting artists and become subscription industry where clients come last.
i saw on one dev's page tiers that are not monthly but per major update. that is fair way. give me playable update and take money. not like some devs (awam, john...): 2-3 updates per year, each with playable 5 minutes.
i don't care for their problems, since they didn't stop subscriptions or refund it. while they were depressed, pet was sick... they are continuing milking. especially i despise guys collecting regulary money from patients and say we slow down projects because my first job needs more attention. and still continuing milking. wtf! by accepting money this become your job.
abandonment are another story... people are stretching game for year or two and then quit. from my perspective if you were taking subscription for more than 6 months than you should refund people that were subscrobed.

and no more artist support bullshit. we all know that ship sailed away long time ago. if that is case than put everything free for everyone and open non-tier based subscription account where everyone can donate if want. like fiddler in underground. don't make business out of it and not deliver it. personally i'll pay for every decent game brought to its end i enjoyed to play.

about people still paying abandoned games.... stockholm syndrome at max.

I guess the new art could turn out to be pretty great, but that's pretty unlikely, unless they're willing to pay. Because, let's be honest, who'd want to waste their talent on this game specifically?

It's always weird, when the artist isn't the project lead on porn games like this, because the art is the face and the rest of the game is honestly pretty generic or even average. I wonder how much of the pie the rest of the team thinks they deserve for their generic story and gameplay.
So, I guess after 0.5 the new artist will be the only one working for their Patreon bucks until the new art ist done.

I'm one. Cautiously optimistic, but [Abandoned] is a pretty big graveyard here.

Welp, let's be honest, art was the only reason this game stood out. GG guys :(
I don't agree with this. The writing was sort of fresh and actually really good at times. The art was really good of course, but it's story and writing that decides whether slice of life type games like this are actually good or just a gallery of loosely connected porn images depicting whatever fantasy the maker of the game decided to cater to.
