The former. Don't know how much the storyline will change, except that there WILL be some changes.

They are starting over from the beginning with the new artist. There is no legal reason why they couldn't just redo everything with new art (since the old artist wasn't the coder), but, apparently the intent is to change some things.

You guys seem to like Darren best, so here's your favourite nerdy boy in all his new glory!

For Darren we have decided to keep the essence of his character design, but we've added some details that enhance his personality. These are, for example, bitten nails and a slightly more insecure expression, among other things. We have also opted for a slightly more tacky color palette for his outfit.

I have not played this game, but I found the art to be unbelievably good when I first saw this thread. Like among the best I've ever seen in this style. My intention was to come around and play it when the corruption/domination stuff gets into the game. Imagine my disappointment when I just found out that the artist quit.

So I went through the patreon post ready to raise my pitchfork. The situation seems to be that the artist is uncomfortable drawing lewds and explicit scenes. Something that he did not realize until the project was underway I guess. That is pretty irresponsible, but at least it seems like they parted on good terms. It wasn't some monetary dispute, ego trip, or some shady bullshit.

The new art is top fucking notch as well. I think many people will find the original art superior, if not more unique. That said, the new artist is absolutely in the top tier for AVNs and supposedly is fine drawing sex scenes. It seems like there was a distinct lack of lewds in the 5 chapters we have so far. A lot of that is because the artist was not comfortable drawing them. The new artist and the revamp will probably add more scenes.
