Question: What kind of Mind Control are we talking about? Is it the kind of mind control where inhibitions are slowly broken down until said target is gobbling down wieners, or is it the kind where the MC just waves his magic wand and instantly she's a dong inhaler?

Not my experience at all, to be honest. Maybe we look at different games.
Im looking at nearly all games, but what I meant is, that I dont see many games from western developers made in RPGmaker even using the combat mechanics. Now if thats a good or bad thing, depends. But I dont see many forcing players to fight rats. Especially since that mostly doesnt make sense in the theme they have going. Except a few already medieval themed ones.

So all thats left is the walking, and maybe some inventory management. And if they dont pair that with the mentioned exploration and reward for at least doing the walking, then yeah, why even bother with RPGm in that case. Thats where even I would say its better to use another engine.

It can work. The whole Battle Fuck idea started with RPGM games as far as I can tell. It's just that you seem to be comparing the top 10% of RPGM games against the bottom 10% of Ren'Py and I don't think that's entirely fair.
Im not against the combat, not at all. As said above though, it might even be a smart move if you cant make it interesting. Just the problem is, whats left then. And thats where developers would have to make other interesting things happen.

And yeah, I remember those first, at the time weird (ok maybe still weird) Battle Fuck games. Thats another mechanic that some forget (or never thought of), if people dont like fighting, could make it sexy.

Also, whats top 10% of anything and bottom 10% of the other, that would take too much discussing.

All I'm saying is that most of the adult games have some degree of sim or resource management involved, and that's easier to do in Ren'Py than in RPGM. (I say this having tried to do it in both).
Not sure if thats a subjective thing, I wouldnt have said that, even when theres a lot of management/brothel/trainer games.
Now if you would count corruption stats or something similiar to resource management, now thats the majority for sure then. Also I feel guilty now, I should at least play the game where I produce walls of text.

While most of your arguments are somewhat understandable, I can only disagree with that statement.
For me its definitely the other way around, there are way more good and finished RPGmaker games and a lot more Renpy "click for pictures, 0.01 versions" out there. And most games popping up are all the same, modern setup, family themed for incest. But thats probably also because im looking at both markets, western and japanese. There lies the variety I like.

And most of the other things you mentioned sounds to like a you problem to me. As in, thinking you waste time which could just be called progression, or dont like it graphics wise. At least you were fair enough to acknowledge most of it though. Now thats rare enough, so a cookie for you. If you like cookies, that is.

You are correct.
There are alot of bad renpy games too.
One lession i learned is that:
There where always diamonds(good games) in the mut(bad games).
There is just alot more mut(bad games) now.

The difference between progession and time wasting is what i was talking about.
A good game makes it feel like you a progessing.
A bad game makes you want to press that skip buttion because they wont shut up about whatever there talking about.
One of prefered games is hentai highschool+
A unfished mess of idea's trown togather that is grindy as can be.
But i like the concept, gameplay and the choices it provide.
I tryed(and failed) several times to not use blackmail, hypnosis or drugs to turn people into my personal fuck toy(i am too impaitiant)
But i would still recommend the game.
Simply because it is to me a game where you have options.
You deside how to corrupt the town.

In comparision i dont understand the appeal of stuff like dating my daughter where you have to pick the right choices(aka agree with your daughter on everything) or get a game over.
Yet for some reason it is still populair.

Games are about preference's.
And when i play porn games my goal is to turn people into my personal fuck toy.
I love mind control, incest* and corruption because for me it is all about the mind games.
Turning a prude into my sex obsessed slave is fun.
Turning them into a slut is anoying as i dont want them to fuck others.
I would accauly like to see a porn game where i can turn them into my willing slaves without them becoming sex obsessed sluts.
It is all about the control.
Likewise the quickest way for me to lose interest into any game is when i dont get/lose that control.


*Incest is all about breaking taboo's and getting them to agree to do something that they shoudnt.
It is all about the power to get them to do something they find moral offesive.
For example:
Getting a mother to betray her daughters and help you turn them into your fuck toys makes me feel empowered.
Having them on jump on your dick without even trying is boring as can be.

In short:
It is hard for any devoloper in any game gerne to find the right balance between progression and wasting your players time.
And of all the games i played most of the good once's use renpy, unity, html.
While most of the bad once's used qse, rpgm, rag's.

It is just a mather of experiance.
It is the same with eagames.
I stoped buying from them not because i am boycotting them.
But because i came to associate the name eagames with unfineshed buggy mess.
If i find a good game made by eagames i would buy it.
I am just more sceptical about anything they make.
Same with rpgm.
I would stilll download it if i believe it is worth the risk.

I like RPGM because it is roleplaying game with sex yet some people just cares about sex sadly.
Some maybe just care about sex. Also add fetish caring over generic sex. But most will care for their game style preferences and fun factor too.

1: Time wasters.
2: Looking like a game build in 1995.
3: Finding the trigger.
This. Add also:
4: Lame RPG mechanics.

Bad and overused RPG mechanics with just some xp to level, plain weapon/armor upgrades, some potions, a puzzle and few unimpressive skills thrown in, it's worthless most of the time. Many don't even archieve that. Others do it wrong and fail. Innovation and fine crafted complexity usually are important in RPGs.

Having deeper gameplay than your regular Renpy is good but it should be fun and interesting. That's the tricky part.
Renpy allows the creator to focus on few important things like good renders with animations and story. It's easier to archieve nice simple game mechanics, if any, by doing a good VN or a simpler game with the proper engine for them.

Anyways, I hope can overcome that and create a good game.

There are some awesome RPGM games on this site, both that take advantage of battle systems and those that don’t.

The New Life is a great example of a large, well-fleshed-out game free of any real turn-based combat annoyance but lush with puzzles, maps that both make sense and help along the plot, and a shitton of content.

Harem is an awesome title if you WANT a battle-based RPG but also some lewd content (albeit none of it motion-animated). Also the writing is top notch.

Peasant’s Quest falls somewhere in between - it has a battle mechanic but it’s not completely dependent on it. The narrative is really what matters.

You just gotta hunt around for good titles that you enjoy in the engine.

Should hopefully be seeing an update to this soon, as the dev at least claims that the release date for $10 patrons is July 3 (though if it was released on time, it had to have been done via PM, as there was no post made). Though seeing as how there are only 2 patrons at the moment, it will probably not be in the next couple of days, as I doubt one of those 2 people visit here. That's of course if the dev doesn't block the update behind a paywall. With the lack of information on their Patreon, I'm not sure if they only plan on releasing to $1+ patrons, or if they will release a public version.

If you pay close attention to those models they are made from an ILLUSION game named PLAYHOME it basically uses the same engine as HONEYSELECT. If you ever played PLAYHOME you would notice two of the characters the mother and daughter. The third character is the only one that was actually given different face features and body.

My fault (and my poor english). Just triying to express the idea of supporting a dev in his First steps. I'm a relatively new Player here (played for First time an adult game 3 months ago), again my apologices,never played PLAYHOME.
