Yeah, noticed that - but I won't complain because they're doing weekly releases of 1000 image/50 animation updates, and this time there was also the unreal version released. Kind of amazing if you think about it
And yes, I think S1 was close to perfect (same for the first half of S2)
View attachment 5373659

But that was 3 writers ago or something :LUL: so it can't be the same
Both S1 and S2 were written by the same person who also wrote the very beginning of S3. The new writer, Embercat here, took over pretty early on though during S3's development. S1 is REALLY good, but it's also awfully short and there was a lot more to do with the concept. S2 did a lot of it but it also had its fair share of issues, so I'm glad S1 is getting an Unreal remake.

From the Dev "Serious Note: Earlier this week, a global outage affected many companies, including Amazon and us. As a result, we couldn’t include everything we planned for this release and had to wrap up this episode a bit sooner than usual. Thanks for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy the update all the same."

I am very curious how a less than one day internet issue/outage caused the game to have missing content? I am not buying it. I work in a Hospital, it was effected, not it wasn't something that delayed care or anything serious. It just effected a few systems and my ability to log on for awhile. So, again, this imo makes no sense. In reality, they missed one day of work. If my 185 bed Hospital did just fine, then how they hell can a few people working on a video game have such DEVASTATING issues for a few hours to a day? At the least they could have just delayed the release for one day.

But, man, this game has gone way off the tracks from what it was in Season One. Season One was a perfect game. The story with Elizabeth (or Mom) is essentially gone now, and that was part of the best stuff in the game imo. It seems the dev is just milking it to prolong the game into eternity and forgetting where it all started and how GOOD it was then. There is also scenes missing in the replay as well, really freakin annoying.
I mean if you don't have access to your servers, it's gonna affect your ability to access and share work across team members which is much more impactful when it comes to the development of a computer software, even a game so it is pretty believable that they couldn't squeeze in some renders or whatever during the rush to put out a weekly update.

As for Elizabeth, she still has her own storyline, we just haven't seen her in a while because it wasn't her turn in the updates. But in the full game, you'll be able to do her storyline first and focus on her much like in S1 and S2.

Hi, sorry to hear you feel the treatment for Season 3 of Lust Theory isn't good enough and isn't living up to the legacy of the first series. As I have mentioned before, it is genuinely disappointing to me when my writing fails to resonate or is deemed subpar.

Regarding the system outage and its impact on our work, much of what is done is handled through a single main online program. It is where I upload, edit, and write the game, and where the 3D rendering team and others go to see what they need to do for rendering and scene creation. With it down, we don't have access to virtually anything.

While I appreciate and am definitely thankful that your hospital was able to ride the outage with only minor inconvenience, I feel like this comparison is comparing apples and oranges. You mentioned the outage affected a few of your systems across a wider network. But, it's not as if your hospital primarily relies on everyone accessing ONE main program to function.

Believe me, I am more than glad to hear that your hospital ran smoothly and efficiently during the outage, but our setup was not designed to handle an unexpected outage of this nature.

As for the more important issue of the game going off track in your eyes, there is not much I can offer, except to say that I am passionate about this game and the work I am doing writing for it. Nothing in my treatment or writing is intended to milk the franchise or spoil its legacy. I love writing for Lust Theory and Lust Bound, and I try to make time to answer everyone who messages me with their thoughts on my work, both positive and negative. I am passionate about delivering a great game, exploring new dimensions of the time loop and MC's situation, and building on the game's lore, characters, and relationships.

While it sucks to hear you feel my writing isn't capturing the magic of the first season, and I must accept that view and try to come to terms with it, I must fight my corner regarding your comments on the game having become an exercise solely in milking the franchise. Whether I am succeeding in delivering on that goal is, of course, up to you, the players, to decide, but I assure you I am giving my all to this work and trying to give Lust Theory the story it deserves and which honors its legacy.

Too many of these games lose focus in what made them good. Too many side characters and other things. That is what happened in Season Two. Once they added that girl down the street and the party and all that crap (which went on forever), it went off the rails and has never been the same since.

I have no desire for the Unreal version, my PC is nearly 10 years old so I don't do games like that. I don't really like the looks of it anyway. I prefer renpy games.

The system was down for maybe one day. I just find it odd that it would impact a little video game so much, but not a huge hospital and health care systems. Actually, my Hospital does rely on one program. It is called Epic. and that was the program I could not access for hours during the outage, hindering what I could and could not do. I mix IV's and cannot scan them if Epic is down. Anyway, if this truly did hinder the game in such a capacity, then I hope the things you were going to have are put in a later update.

The gripe I have is that the game has lost focus on what made it good in Season One. Too many side things and other characters or events. Elizabeth seems to have been side lined for a long time now, and that has frankly made my interest low because of just that (as you can see in my sig pics, I really liked the game). It needs to get back to the main characters from Season One. The fun of redoing days to get the outcome you want (which is essentially gone now and was the main appeal in Season One) and progress the story in that way. The game was unique then, but now it has lost some of it's uniqueness. You could even do a new storyline where he encounters a glitch and goes way back in time to when his Mom (Elizabeth) and the school teacher are his age and has to relive days then (sort of like Timestamps, but with Groundhog Day...lol) and have do things in order to get back to his time.

There is also scenes missing in the Replay, even in the new update (well 0.8.1, I haven't played 0.8.2).

However, it is nice to hear someone is willing to listen. I have been playing this game since Season One, so after all this time it is good to hear someone actually gives a damn about feedback. Appreciated.

Just finished season 1, have an earlier version of season 2 downloaded and working, but when I downloaded from mega and extracted the season 2 final version, it doesn't work. I'm on mac, says "the application can't be opened". Anyone got a fix? I moved the package contents out of the extracted folder into the application's show package contents directory and have it set up exactly the same as the previous season 2 version, with the autorun, game, renpy, and lib folders.
Did you solve it? or still stuck? I am also not able to open it on Mac. I am also not able to build the Mac distribution with official RenPy app in Mac.

I always have time for feedback, both the good and the bad. I'll fight my corner when it comes to my commitment to the world and story, but other than that, I try to keep an open mind to others' views and opinions of what I'm offering to the narrative.

A little about the direction I have taken the game in and why.

When I took over Lust Theory, the opening section and introduction with Alice was already done and released. So too were the parts with the new characters, Rachel and the Hospital nurse, Gwen. Inheriting the writing at this point left a lot of things already baked into the narrative, and something I had to work with one way or another. In fact, one of my first major updates - (the second half of Amy's story) I actually took pains to make Amy the center of the show and explore more of her story after the Rachel dating interview sequence, (which released just before I took over.) Since taking over, I have tried to keep the focus on the main cast from S1 & 2 as much as possible, with the only real new inclusion being Stephanie, whom I included as a crossover character for Mia.

This is not to wash my hands of this issue, but I do wish to stress that some of the parameters of writing, as they were at the point I took over, were beyond my control.

As to the problem you described of the game losing some of the magic from Season 1, this is a tricky one. I definitely understand how anarchic and fun Season 1 was and how original it felt. However, 2.5 seasons on, it is hard to maintain that same level of magic with the story and situation presented.

Again, quite a bit of this comes down to decisions and story points inherited before I took over as writer, but I think the ability to return fully to the carefree magic of season 1, and using the time loop to make otherwise impossible sexual hi-jinks possible was lost when the looped day progressed to Friday and then finally skipped again to Season 3 and the revelations of the loops source and established narrative of the loops being closed permanently.

As soon as the notion of the loops being brought to a close came into effect, and with a raft of problems presented to the MC regarding his actions during previous loops, it became more or less impossible to believably focus the narrative on trying to score in new ways with hilarious misfires. Perhaps, the hero could have taken a darker turn and just used the time loops left till a fix comes to go balls out insane and try and complete a bucket list of sex challenges to end the loops on, but with the messes MC had put himself in over the start of the game, I didn't see this being a good fit for the narrative.

I have spoken before in this channel that I am quite passionate about leveling up the wider interpersonal connections in Lust Theory since taking on the writing. I have wanted to see MC's relationships with the girls explored deeper, and to give him a leveling-up moment where he becomes more of an active hero figure of the narrative. Aside from being how I personally wished to push the narrative, it also felt like an essential move based on another issue the game has (as I see it) after 3 seasons.

The Limited Wellspring

In terms of spaces left to take the sexual hijinks of the game, there was not all that much more space to 'logically' explore within the narrative.

Thanks to bonus events in seasons 1 & 2, scenes exist for most possible arrangements of girls, and within the main story, there is not much farther left to take the stakes.

By Season 2, Elizabeth, for example, was pretty much on board for the ride when it came to sleeping with MC. By the end of the season, MC also had ironclad ways of getting with most other girls, with the only real possibility for a new direction being toward more variations of threesomes, foursomes, etc.

With all girls pretty much fully on board and committed to MC by the end of S2, it left little challenge for him to make new situations in seasons 3 (especially as so many of the cast are already established as being at least comfortable with threesomes and sharing.) In many ways, (without the inclusion of the Screw up Friday, where he tanked his approval with every girl he knew), he might well have gone into the next day able to just say - 'Yo, let's bang' to almost any LI and reasonably expect a yes.

With this in mind, I think the previous writer needed to include all the complexities and fallout MC's experiences at the start of S3 with the girls in his life. Without it, there would be almost no stakes at play. BUT those same fallout moments from his forgotten Friday were also of a kind caliber that necessitated (at least to my mind) going deeper emotionally with the girls in his world. And then, when Alice's plot arc and dissolution of the time loop are added to the mix, the need for MC to ground himself and get ready for a return to normal living becomes even more of a priority.

This is not to say I did not want to take the path I have chosen. I have made no secret of the fact that I felt deepening interpersonal relationships and emotional connections in the story was something I really wanted to explore with S3. But, aside from being something I wanted to bring to the table, it is also something I felt was pretty much imperative and unavoidable within the context of the story, as it was left with me at the time of my takeover.

If there is one thing I've learned from following and reading all the reviews, thoughts, and opinions here, it is that it is impossible to walk a line with Lust Theory that perfectly satisfies every element of the fan base. I know there are many who are happy with the direction I have been taking and the emphasis on strengthening emotional ties and exploring character relationships more deeply. I think a solid proportion of the player base has wanted to see this for a while.

At the same time, I know I have seen a handful of comments wishing the game would return fully to its Season 1 roots and concentrate more on the hilarity, sexy hijinks, and impossible situations the hero winds up in.

Believe me, I want nothing more than to write a game that EVERYONE loves. I try my best to balance deepening the story and relationships, keeping the humor and sexiness, all while working within the confines of the narrative I inherited when I took on the story.

I care about Lust Theory, and Lust Bound. I care about the characters and story I'm putting out into the world, and while I want players to always be open and honest in their critiques with me, I assure you I agonize and worry and do my best to reflect on every message of critique.

I'm always in the comments section here and on the Inceton discord, so please keep voicing your thoughts and opinions. While I can never hope to promise to pivot to make every fan's vision for Lust Theory a reality, I will at least listen and try to take on board critique with humility, and do what I can to adjust the scales.

A few weeks ago, one player noted feeling that humor was starting to dip in the season, something I have tried my best to listen to, which led to the inclusion of the Shrodinger's Cat scene and a few other hijinks scenes in the National Park.

This has become a bit of a ramble, something I am becoming pretty famous for on here, so I'll wrap things up here. I hope explaining my thought processes for why I have made the creative decisions I have, and more of the story of how and when I came to the series helps a little. Of course, you don't have to approve of those decisions anymore. If you still do not like the direction I am taking, I will understand. Still, I hope explaining has at least given you a better idea of my goals, the limitations I am working with, and the reasons for taking the narrative in the direction I have.

Download, unzip, and open the attached file. A Terminal window should pop up. Drag the Lust Theory application into said with and hit "return" or the "enter" equivalent on your keyboard. Once the process is complete, run the application again and it should run just fine. This script will work with any renpy game that's having the same issue. Hope this helps!!

This is a universal truth - any continuation of a story has to make choices, and those choices can never match up with every single person's individual expectations, so no matter what you do, you're going to disappoint someone.

I prefer Season 3's romantic nature to be honest. Only thing is I would really like a season 4 where we can continue to develop each characters romantic connections. So many games end with having the love confession and first time fuck and then a epilogue. For me even slice of life sex seems to be erotic especially when each girl has the great personality that this game does. The incest angle alone is great. Being in a relationship with your Older Sister or teacher has so much potential for stories.

Yes I did that. After that also I had open the package contents and create a 'autorun' folder and copy paste the following in the there. Only then the game ran

This is quite the challenge you have taken, I like what you are thinking. As much as I like the day loop thing, this cannot go on. The story needs to move, and if the day is stuck it won't move. And Getting all girls in one day is not a good story. it feels tedious. So the evolution @Embercat is saying, I like that.

Since taking over, I have tried to keep the focus on the main cast from S1 & 2 as much as possible, with the only real new inclusion being Stephanie, whom I included as a crossover character for Mia.

Hey, you are the ne screenplay + writer guy, right?

I was wondering if you guys have any plan to do another old school Incest type VN like Summer with Mia and Lust theory. Lust theory story had become really dull. The screenplay has improved since last few months but the story has come to such a place that good dialogues alone won't do any good.
