Yes it was a short story. It was NTR in that the MC wasn’t involved in the sex scenes or at all really, he’s not in the story at all. I want to say from my memory it’s non-canon and before Kayla met MC/He doesn’t exist in this this non-canon story.

And why were you expecting something different? Netorare is the most popular kink in Lustful Voyage, winning all the polls with ease. It was obvious the dev was gonna prioritize NTR over the vanilla romance (I wouldn't call it like that since the MC does cheat on Kayla to get with all the women, but I can't find another word for it) and it seems that will always be the case, at least in bonus content. Fortunately for those who are more into "vanilla romance" he isn't dropping content with the MC and the girls in favor of making a NTR fest and does try to create content for every route available.
