Kuro
Hey
Everyone , hope you're all doing well!
Today, I wanted to discuss some upcoming changes that will be implemented starting from Chapter 5's release.
But before we get into that, I'd like to explain why I've been absent:
Currently, I have two IRL jobs that demand a significant amount of my time. Some weeks, I find myself working 40 to 50 hours, and occasionally even pushing up to 60 hours, leaving me with only one weekend to unwind.
When you factor in the time I dedicate to working on the game, you can imagine just how little personal time I have left.
So…
To be honest, I initially believed that as a young and healthy individual, I could handle this workload and view it as an investment in my future. But nope.
The mounting stress over the months has led me to experience burnout.
Considering my weird personality, which can vary from being extremely serious to somewhat unpredictable, I realized it would be better for me to take some time to gather myself before making any decisions that I might regret later on. I'm referring to writing something foolish while I'm not in the right state of mind, for instance, how certain things can disturb my moral compass.
So, yeah... I took a break from the internet to gather my thoughts, relax, and contemplate the future of this game.
Now, let's dive into the changes I'll be implementing and one aspect that will remain consistent:
I will NOT give up on Lycoris Radiata!(That one thing) As I've mentioned before, this story has grown close to my heart, and I'm determined to see it through to the end, in one form or another.
I will be parting ways with the f95zone and subscribestar. Apologies, Jason, but F95zone has been conflicting with my moral compass, and I haven't visited the site since the last update. Although I understand/hope there are individuals who browse the site for "scientific purposes" only, personally, I don't want to force myself into that site anymore.
Regarding subscribestar (most of you may not even be aware of it), I've realized that I'm not adept at marketing, and I don't feel the need for it anymore as I'll be making some changes to the game's support system.
Support:
As some of you may have noticed, I've temporarily paused billing on my Patreon. This pause will continue until the release date, and when that happens, I will be removing all existing tiers except for one. This remaining tier will be priced at 2 euros per month and will provide all the benefits, excluding drawing requests. Additionally, the update status will be made public, except for the renders.
I apologize to my loyal Patreons for these changes, and I understand if you decide to discontinue your support.
Quizzes:
I absolutely love creating quizzes, so they will still be a part of our journey. However, the reward for participating in quizzes will now be only a custom render of a character (winner chooses the character).
And now, onto something that has taken me considerable time to contemplate and decide:
I've decided to step back from actively promoting this game (not that I've made much effort in that regard anyway).
I understand and respect that there are individuals who rely on their game development as their livelihood, and I don't want to offend or undermine their efforts. If anyone wishes to promote their game on my server, they are welcome to do so, but I kindly request that it remains SFW.
I'm not particularly a people person, and as Black_Red mentioned in one of his comments. I’m not the kind of a guy who would take initiative to talk (Pure truth), which is why I rarely make acquaintances with other Devs.
From now on, I will only post updates on Itch, Patreon, and the site that Black_Red recommended to me (We will discuss it later on private Black_Red).
Reasons behind these changes:
Some changes will help me manage my time more effectively and alleviate some of the burdens I carry. However, the most crucial reason is that I don't want to become bored with creating this game.
…
Thank you all for your attention, and please feel free to share your thoughts.
I will persist in crafting Lycoris, just as I envision it. (Story-wise, Studio Neo is starting to become more and more limiting in various aspects.)
