By the sound of it, you are at the end of the current update, you will need to wait until the next version gets uploaded to play more. I don't know when that may be, but it should be sometime soon. I went and looked on Itch, and it seems the average wait time between updates is roughly 5 months, with one of the updates taking a bit longer at 8 months, and this current update was released September 15th of last year. I think this game is worth the wait, though, so patience should bear us out.

This game is good but it's annoying as a linux user that i have to use the .sh backdoor. I always get distracted by the colourful .exe and then have to make a .desktop file to feel better. For anyone who feels like me, there is a tool.

Oh yeah, this "sandbox" game which is a linear VN where you just need to choose the right place to be to proceed.
No actual choices, just illusion of being able to move freely from place to place, except nothing happens unless you go to the place you are supposed to.

Like Shmurfer says, something is abandonware IF you go a certain period of time without even so much as a Patreon (or ANY) update, and Maeve's Academy clearly does not fit that bill, at all. The dev is clearly communicating well on the platforms that'll make them money, and they have been so kind as to even respond to inquiries on here, even accounting for the particulars of this site. I can understand a little of the frustration, if it's just coming from a place of impatience, but this is ultimately a good game, well worth the wait, and with a dev who's more responsive than many I've seen in while.

I believe there is also a time limit even if dev is communicating, But i believe it's longer than the no communication time limit
