In the same way all the people who tl and the ones who release them here don't need to do it but they do anyway.
I mean you're getting these releases for free here, if you don't like them then don't play them and don't complain, it's not that hard.

The problem is, as many others have already mentioned, when a game receives a MTL it decreases the chances it will receive an actual translation down the road because potential translators/publishers will see it as "already done". So for people who don't like MTLs it's extremely frustrating to see a game they like receive a MTL. A better question is why you feel the need to police what people other comment on.

Sometimes MTL manages to get at least context right and you understand what's going on. It is rare but it happens sometimes. So I wouldn't say it's always that bad compared to alternatives of learning japanese, korean, chinese or even sometimes russian to play most if not all of the games.
However, this isn't the game where you can understand anything with this MTL and you must have a god level comprehension ability to understand what happens in the game. I spent over an hour trying to enjoy the game trying my hardest to ignore translation and just play it as if it's CG collection. But I can't.
In the end, I would just wish that mods would change post saying instead of Language: English into Language: English (MTL) to at least warn some people.

its called an MT or machine translation , its basically what happens when you throw the japanese into google and have it translate that into ancient sumerian and then into engrish and then you slap that on the game and call it a "translation"
