maybe for others, but not for this game. There are no "Stopgap" translations. If a translator sees "Translated" in the OP, they just leave and go somewhere else. You're just guaranteeing the game won't ever get a decent translation.
Especially since most translators don't wanna deal with how belligerent the original translator gets when you poach a translation from them. It's been like that in the fan translation scene for over 20 years. This isn't anything new or out of the ordinary.
Why are you conflating manual translations with proper or good translations. The vast majority of late 2024-2025 playable translated NTR RPGS have been translated with AI assistance (I wanna say all, but maybe Kaguya released something this year, idc to check). Dazed tier translations as you call it. The manual TL industry/hobby is dying in a steaming dumpster fire, everyone knows this and it’s for the reason you laid out. I don’t think anyone should expect a manual translation coming out this year. That's not really the problem. AI TL peeps generally don't care. If someone can do a better job, they're welcome to it and all that.
The issue is that if there's an AI TL, the odds of getting a dedicated fan translator to work on the game drops drastically. After all, lots of people will already be content with the AI TL and will not revisit the game just because a better TL is available. Especially if it's Dazed tier, which these days is so close to proper English that the only thing in question is often the accuracy of the TL... which someone who doesn't know Japanese can't question anyway.
People have to remember, fan translators, the ones that know Japanese, have no need to do translations. They can just play the game as is and screw everyone else who doesn't know Japanese. So if they do TL, they either do it out of the goodness of their hearts (which can only take you so far because TL-ing anything is tedious, horribly boring work and games are particularly horrible to work with), they do it because having people play their TL makes them feel good (which obviously won't happen if everyone already played an AI TL), or they do it to make an extra buck (which again, won't happen if everyone already played an AI TL).
Those are the three major reasons someone might fan-TL. So yeah, if this gets an AI TL, good luck seeing a manual TL, ever, unless some official publishing happens... and that seems unlikely with this dev.
I've seen plenty of fan translators not bother with games that had shitty MTL published, much less AI TLs, which, as mentioned before, these days produces much more proper English with much fewer issues, leaving only the accuracy of the translation in doubt. For all we, who don't know JP, can tell, AI TLs could very well be full re-writes or fanfics... but we have no way to tell the difference, we can only judge the English itself if it's consistent...
So yeeeeah.
If people want full on, manual TL, it's best to ensure that the game remains untouched for a while, and it's best for people to be patient. I know that's a lot to ask for with the current "gotta have shit NAO!!OneOne1" generations, but that's how it goes.
If people don't want a manual TL, then go with whatever.
Xebit the unofficial translator and whose translation style is the one everyone is used to, is also AI assisted. Why would one even want a manual translation anymore anyways
