Honestly, managing moods is not that hard. Once you know how to exploit the locks due to say showering / drinking coffee / watching porn, you're pretty much able to manipulate moods to be happy all the time. The next game will not have the mood system, I have actually considered removing it altogether, as MotH has more than enough content as it is, but on the other hand I put in a lot of time to make it and it would take quite a lot of time to remove it as well.
Nor is grinding for stats since they don't decrease over time - took me less than 2 weeks of in-game time (from the start) to max the stats, with Charisma in particular slowing things down, due to being only able to tan once a day.
The only real 'grind' in the game revolves around repeating events with Sophia, and the events on Sunday (Beach and Sophia for her path), which slows things down considerably. Money might also be grindy, since the jobs don't pay that well (but the casino offers a lot of money for little effort).
Otherwise, it is probably possible to pretty much complete the entire game in about 60 to 70 game days. Considering the number of characters in the game, that is actually a bit on the short side ...
So, I'd suggest that it is fine to keep it as it is.
