There was some error that DISM and a reboot fixed. Now sfc as well as dism are happy, but the game still fails with the same messages in the log and the event viewer

There is not much what I can do for you. You can google and try all sort of recommendation to fix an "access violation" problem. Probably restoring Windows 10 would fix your problem, but it requires a bit of time and a back-up.

Is UnityPlayer.dll present in your Man of the House folder? The version on my PC loads just fine.
