It took me about an hour to figure it out, and It was totally by accident. I never click on the coffee, and just did. After I did that I came back to the forum to tell everyone and you beat me to it. It was then that I got the HINT that @Faerin left.

I'm glad someone else likes to read in here too. I haven't read that book in ages, but it is probably the only line that stuck with me in the whole book. That and, "What is the only thing they can never take from you?...Your Freedom!...No, you being in this prison is proof of that fallacy. It's your education. They can never take from you, what you learn." Love that line.

Hey guys, just a quick reply to @atlas114's detailed explanation.
I'm amazed that you found that out, because you seem to have discovered a bug o.0
Basically it's a 3 step event:
1. It starts with the coffee
2. You already discovered the spy event before she goes out
3. Going to sleep (at a certain time) wraps it up
If you do it like that, you get the entire dialog and it actually makes sense
It seems there's a bug with the dinner, jumping you right in the middle of the event (I'll get that fixed, just as the other bug mentioned, thanks guys!)
EDIT: So far I haven't been able to reproduce it.

Open your backpack, click on the item, then close the backpack. Item should now be active and the prompts in the room should now say something like "use lingere with..." click on Ashely and it will give it to her.
