Might be because its full screen? some games tend to do that so I always use windowed instead of full screen. Try F4 or F5 or even F6 to change. Dont know which button it is to change it to windowed screen.

My laptop is Window 7
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.54 GHz
Ram 2G but can't play this version..

Open with Notepad to change the character name.
Rightmouse -> Edit Name to edit the name of the savegame
