Sorry, but what is the answer to the second question:
Are there any downsides to freeing a NPC's crimes?
I don't see any real benefits from the convict status. Only disadvantages.

"Less penalties if exposed to humiliating deeds" - when would that be useful? For "Floor Crawler" assignments?

And why would anyone spend money to purchase forged documents and change a slave status? I really don't understand. If only the Ikaanos government paid some money for feeding, guarding and employing convicts, that option would be more interesting.

I agree to your statement about the benefits which is why I omitted answering that part. Personally I have not found a positive reason to keep a convict instead of a slave, except for someone playing a really harsh personality with lots of punishment and anger issues.

I've not done that part yet, but from reading the Discord and this thread I've seen reports that once Aria's rebellion succeeds you can only enslave convicts, so if you have someone like Juno or Dakota that you want to keep as slaves it's my understanding you could forge documents to keep them that way.

I think the only benefit for convict status is if slavery gets abolished. I think convicts are basically an exception to the no slaves thing. But you have to work pretty hard to get slavery abolished so presumably that's something you want if it ever happens.

As for Hassan - I've already killed a person he asked to kill, then he dissapeared and someone (don't remember who) suggested to look for him somewhere. I'm spoiled ro have ckues in quest description -maybe there was some information - but it seems that there's no way to re-read some text from the past...
If you have already been informed by the Skyguard that he is shifty and that he is missing, you can look for him by sailing to Kahill Outpost from Darkmere and going up Sewo's Bend I think.

This is probably just observer bias / RNG, but I'd thought I'd ask.

Is there anything that would prevent a slave from gaining gardening skill? I restarted (because I always do) and have had Juno as my gardener for about 20-25 days. There's been maybe 5 days where she was assigned as a follower which I think overrides house role.

She's happy (low 80s) and friendly (was amiable but she's losing some affection -- maybe because she's jaded?).

She has gained 0 skill points in gardening. She's still at 25.

What stats are required to convince a mercenary to go to Doctor's Hall with you?
The option is there on the menu, but it's greyed out. I need to get these bitches some health implants.

Just affection and time of day I believe. Loving should be good enough for everyone except maybe the paragons (can't remember if any of them need soulmate or undying).

I've created a Naughty Mod which lifts some of the restrictions Mr. Dev put in place and should allow cheat scripts and edited saves to do some things that weren't otherwise possible.

It's a 1% chance I think, capping at 80 gardening. (For the gardener job. The Administration and Domestic course in the Academy functions as normal, capping at 130.)

And yes, Grim increased the Affection decay in 0.8.3.7. The good news is that once she reaches 116-120 affection, her affection will stabilize. Undying Affection starts at 110. So once your girl reaches Undying, give her a compliment to her Intelligence twice. That's +3 each time usually and you can do it twice so now she gets to 116 Affection at least. Encourage her once and then do Arrange a Dinner event you can reach 120.

Both the wiki and help information in-game suggest gaining gardening is a 15% daily chance. My first game, the gardener gained about 5 points in 60 days of play. That lines up better with expectation than 0 gain in 34 days of ownership which is her current position. That's beginning to push towards a 1-2% probability result or there is another mechanism in-game that is interfering with her gain this time.

Hey, guys!

Need some pointers - would be glad for help! :)

1. Quest "Prowler in the Depth 3" - Aurora, one of the professor Wolf students... points to Bunker in South Redhaven (Flood bunker) which needs a code or hacking device level 4 (and I have only level 3). Maybe I missed the code, or too dumb to find one... :) Please help

2. Quest "In the name of God". Text says "I should investigate this place". But which place an where is it... I'm clueless :(

3. Bunker in "Imogem Barrow" - dunno if it's related to some quest, but again, it requires either code or hacking device level 4.

4. Old house in "Sevo's Bend" - again requires requires either code or hacking device level 5.

PS: Thanks to this thead found "The Cursed One" - man it's way too tricky, spent couple of hours trying to find it myself, devs made it too hard...
The Cursed One ?

Should be about that 15%.

Question is, how much do you reload day-end results?

I think all the rolls somewhat linked so that if you keep reloading until one slave triggers discipline gain, arena training or whatever, you're unlikely to see much gains with other slaves in other jobs.

Alternatively you could try reloading end-day results until you trigger gardening gain, just to see if you can.

Also a stupid question but it's the internet so I have to make sure:

You do have a garden built, right?

I reload end-day events inconsistently. Mainly to avoid negative events like broken crockery rather than to look for positive changes to slave stats. I didn't even know the log report existed until yesterday.

I have two gardens (lush grove and to the right of the house) and the potted plants inside. The farming report shows 10 yield and that isn't red meaning the game knows a gardener is assigned.

Juno is up to 45 days in household. About 3 before I assigned to gardening and she's been taken on 3 hunting trips and I never remember to remove the followers when I get back so that's about 10 days that don't count. The odds of not having gained at least one point in gardening is about 1 in 300. Not completely out of pocket, but getting close to the point where I'm pretty convinced there's a mechanic in play I don't understand.

This Juno has jaded, starlet, and nature lover in addition to her base traits (advocate, frigid, wildborn). Maybe nature lovers don't learn to garden or something? Nothing like that is mentioned in the descriptions.

If you're fighting with the person you have assigned as gardener they might not be counted as having worked that job at all depending on which hours they're assigned as a follower. So you might want to assign someone else as a gardener if you're fighting with Juno and then swap once you get her respect trained up a bit or something. I generally pick up Mai Lynn pretty early and assign her as gardener til she hits 80, then send her off to the academy and assign Aiko as my gardener since she's guaranteed to start with pretty good gardening skill and doesn't have any other jobs I want her to do.

Jack is a better gardener but he's got the scavenger trait so I would rather him be assigned as a scavenger. Other than follower status I'm not aware of any requirements for the gardening job to train people passively up to 80 skill. It might not work if they despise you or something but I have never tried with someone who hates me.

Right, I figured that. She's taken on hunting trips because she's wildborn, but she sits in the house the other 9 out of 10 days. I'm not counting the day I go hunting or the next day when i remove her as follower because I don't know if the game checks assignment in the morning before 0800. She's been left in house as gardener at least 35 days.

The two kids operate similarly. They are left on scavenge duty (and that works and is reported) except when they go hunting with me.

Juno is happiness high 90s and friendly to amiable depending on the day. Jaded is slowly being removed.

I only have a few followers: Ansel, Juno, Michelle, two women I kept from combat, and the two kids from the temple. I haven't really looked for others much yet. I've been working of getting a semi-stable income and haven't wanted extra retainer costs or mouths to feed.

Yeah I gave up on trying to deal with schedules for people I'm fighting with so everyone I might take fighting with me is assigned a job I don't care about like janitor. Maybe they do the job, maybe they don't, I don't care either way. There are other jobs that work as follower but I'm not sure how to tell if the job itself actually works still. Like workshop worker. I can go fight with 4 workshop workers all day but does that mean I really only have 3 workshop workers or are all 7 working? Not sure.
