MoR1 still has at least two years of focused development, most likely more. The sequel currently consists of a very limited CSS framework with a background, most features still being in an "idea stage".I'm hearing references to Masters of Raana 2. How close are we to that? Because much of MoR 1 still feels unfinished. I mean, we got the main questline, but so many characters don't feel fleshed out beyond a level that feels...well, shallow. I'm not intending to minimize the immense amount of work that's gone into refining and adding to this game. I'm only expressing my impression from playing it.
It's like getting characters into the house is the endpoint, not the beginning. All that remains then is to unlock a few "tell me about your background" bits that may unlock a quest or two, but then the rest of the game is just grinding. And as time goes on, you start to recognize the sameness in the text responses you get from different girls at various affection levels. (I know, writing unique dialogue for all the NPCs at every stage would be asking a lot.)
And is MoR 2 going to stay with your character, or have you start the process of building a house up from nothing all over again?
And even after MoR2 comes out as a playable Alpha (2027+), MoR1 will continue receiving updates and hotfixes for an additional year or two.
MoR2 is set at least 35 years in the future so save game compatibility will be none or very limited. It's partly due to the new setting and partly due to a completely overhauled (=better) Sugarcube engine. Some Character Creation World "tweaks" are going to be included however, similar to Dying World and Dengi Invasion - enabling the player to continue roleplaying within the same universe that he left in MoR1.
