The way I did that was to download txtpad app so I could open it as txt and then tried this from the wiki ''the value width-scale is easily found within the start of the file, then you can try changing the value from 1 to values ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 '' I adjusted it to 0.5 and it was working fine

Once they reach undying do some things to raise their affection another 3 or 4 points. After that it should be locked unless you do something like enslave a free person or imprison them that will really piss them off.
There are a few other characters that will lose affection to a certain point until you do their questlines.
Also Arizona has an enemy trait that will decrease happiness and affection over time but the trait will decay day by day till it's gone.

AFAIK there should not be *random* drops at Undying affection, but it could be one of many things.
If they gain even more affection after already at the cap, the log will show them losing affection (could look like a massive drop), but it's just the game defaulting them back to the cap.
Your slaves could be angry or they could have a trait that explains why their affection is dropping.
If you've invested in a business that tells you it will lower everyone's affection daily, maybe you should've considered that before investing in that business.
Save game, try it for yourself and load save.

Huh. That's interesting. I just verified this (version 0.8.4.0, so not the buggy alpha) and got the same result.

I've been fighting the Dengi invasion and I pumped up the Republics army to 16k. Things were going well but then randomly one day with no end event or anything all the Dengi are gone.
I didn't see the Dengi king on the field or hear about his defeat.

Neuraclean or figure out how to do it in console.
No "legitimate" method exists, yet at least, since it's a rather new trait.
Dang, I'd like to remove it from tori and she has a lot of really nice traits (totally didn't save scum for them). So neuraclean is out of the question for me. I've checked the console and i'm not sure what the id for it is tbh. Also using console feels like last resort for me, cause if I do it to much the game just becomes unfun.
I just went ahead and subbed to Tier 4 - it's been awhile and honestly great set of updates. I can't justify doing it every single month but if I am already to the point that I am downloading leaked Alphas I might as well kick some cash in your direction.*Sighs*
