The location and time where MC is when I make a save does not matter ? (avoid certain sensitive time like before midnight where the conclude day secretly roll in the background or 7 AM, avoid locations with certain script heavy NPC, find a location with neither npc or background script running, dismiss all parties or remove certain NPC from my faction before update...etc)
Well obviously the best place to be is at home, I thought that should be obvious.

And even if your save was in some weird spot that broke everything (which I've never heard of), you could always just load the morning's autosave, unless you also just happened to choose to nuke your browser for shits and giggles.

Question, when 0.8.4.9 drops, what's the proper procedure to safely transfer saves over versions for this game ?
All save games patched with the 0.8.3 update (early 2024) are fully compatible with the latest versions of MoR, even if you've skipped updates.

When I implement new overhauls, add items, or make similar changes, the required scripts run through a dedicated Checker passage. This passage executes automatically in most districts and at the MC's home.

The only situation where some weirdness might occur is if you saved the game inside an overhauled faction's HQ or inside shops/markets. Leaving that location will immediately patch your save, however.

So it's more or less impossible to break anything.

Thank you, that was very helpful. Been knowing your game for a few years but never get to try it, now that I give it a go it's pretty fun, both the setting and the game feel grandiose. The combat has a lot of room to flex out and expand on, right now it's pretty solid but not yet complex. Game feels like an alternative version of Wasteland 1 that I never get to play. Anyways, wish you the best.

Greeting,

I have an NPC "Tuner jackson" who got the secretive trait but no interrogation action.

Since the secretive traits decrease affection by 3 points a day. It is hard to keep him.

I tried to see if the Debug button can do something but no luck.
I also put him in jail and out to see if I can somehow make the interrogation button pop. Again no luck.

I may have to restart a run and see if something like that happens again.

But before that any idea how to deal with that?

You probably interrogated someone before and didn't finish their quest. Check for "Interrogation results" in your quest log. You can't interrogate others until you get rid of that.

I want to kinda optimize my stat gains not all of them or anything perfect but simply care about it more than in my first two plays.

So question about Academy can I start courses go to the half of it to grab quests + one character and leave them half done for quite a long time.

Does courses max reward is decided at starting int or int when I end the courses ?

Does Nicole needs to finish course for her reporter job or it's just insignificant stat boost / affection boost for her ?

Speaking of combat, I think I'll try a build with the Mountain Man trait on the MC to turn him into a tank, plus four female NPCs with armor that makes them "invisible."
I wonder how far I can take this.

And I'm still getting ripped off by the food prices.
I really need to think about building a garden to compensate at the beginning.

This game has so much potential...

I do think from a mechanical balance standpoint the dex/-chance to hit for petite frames should be greater to make it a valid trade off - or at least have dex factor in to more combat rolls.

This goes for the armor as well - it seems like there's really no reason to pick the 'agile light armor' vs the 'super heavy with biggest dex penalty' armor.

In a perfect setup, each type would be more suited to a particularly type of combat - I think this is one he was kinda shooting for with the melee enemy miss chance and dex values, but it's not a significant enough difference to really make it a trade off.

Mountain man MC with team(s) of female NPC:s (slaves in my case) has worked fine in my several game runs. I am not against males and I know some of them are truly strong and can do their share and more in battles. I just prefer women. ;)

Don't just think about a garden. Build one asap and train a passable gardener to feed your folks during the time you need to train your teamsters, methinks.

Greetings,

At this point, what could be for you a very good fighting team.
Jack seems to be fine
110+ hp and pretty nice stats at the start.
Ansel is under 100 hp and his stats are ok.

The charactere HEMMEL can be found quite early and is generally not bad stats wise.

Perhaps more slaves and less mercenary?

Einor Corso is not cheap.
Then there is Ayden or the other mercenary in stokke hills who cost 350/day.

I'm not looking for the perfect choice.. this is the good part of this game. Everything seems to work more or less.

Or perhaps starting with a team and pushing their stats at the maximum without taking any new NPC on the road?

Good thing I told you Ansel and Bud where the bottom of the barrel and to avoid wasting time on them :x

There are characters I've been systematically getting as the core of my teams every playthrough and they never disapoint, here's my usual team.

- : I never play without him, he's either the guard captain if I have need of another character, but most of the time is always by my side.
- : My quartermistress with stealth armor, fallow me everywhere.
- : alternative to Truls, either captain or fallower.

you enslave them, so now you have a very strong core team that need to train sleep shit and fuck with you at all time.

now for the NWO and the assault of the palace you have not much choices, Aria is a mandatory character so having her with you is a necessary pain in the rectum. so what I do then is leave Truls at home, and bring both and along side Kelly and that's basically the strongest possible team you can get for that mission.

as an honorary mention, my other go-to guys that I get every early game are also , and that are all cheap and decent fighters enough to tag along the entire game, and recycle later as barman for Doyle, foreman for Jack (after quite a lot of training I'll admit).

with the exception of Ayden and Clea, all the characters I've named can and will carry you early game for very minimal investment in time, and with a little gear you have a great fighting force for less than a hundred bucks a day.

I actually have her as a Nanny. I know, a bit of a waste, but her stats are great for the job. I also have other soldiers too.
Should the quartermaster / quartermistress be a member of the squad or not? I actually have mine sitting at home.

She's great nanny, you're not playing wrong, don't worry.

As for the Quartermaster occupation, it IS required to have him/her in your team to have the combat bonus (+10 hit), but there's no specific mention that his/her presence is required for the other bonus (medicine and science based skills) so being a follower isn't mandatory for those.

She is also a great fighter with the Crackshot perk, although others might be better (ammo pack is always nice but towards end game I have more than enough money for ammo). I think she is one of the best overall NPCs when it comes to skills. A bit underwhelming in terms of story though.

You do what need to be done when the time demand it, you're in NO hurry, if she fit a role when you need it than it's all that matter, there's no "wrong" way of doing things.

also, min-maxers have never been loved by their fathers, it's a coping mechanism, they are not better than everybody.
