Why do the best games get abandoned?
My guess is that the creators of those games have some type of problem in real life, be it physical and/or mental. With those problems comes more time that can be invested into the game. If it is physical problems, they can put time into the game world while they can't be active in the real world. If it is mental problems, they try to escape those real world problems with the game world. If this game is really abandoned, I hope it is because they solved their problems. With that being said, I hope the problems I mentioned aren't real, and they are just putting together a HYUGE update.

Based on my limited experience it seems like they always go for longer than they need to. Feels like if the writer(s) managed to focus on tying up their stories sooner we'd have more finished games, rather than half-finished stories because the writer(s) ran out of juice in the middle. Shorter, sure, but finished stories.
Not to mention, but most of these "writers" have no clue how humans talk to each other, and even less of a clue on sexual interactions. Anyone who wants to write a story, have to think up of a beginning, a middle, and an end. I just don't see how a sane person thinks to themselves, I have a great start to a story but not a clue for after, I'll just wing it...it'll be fine.

Life.... it happened with "A Mother's Love" and a while later, he started working on the game once his personal life issues were resolved and we've seen a couple great updates since.

I only hope the dev of this game works through whatever problems he has as I am more concerned with people, than some game.

Here's hoping its just hiatus. Few favorite games have legitimately been abandoned. Big Brother for example. Summertime Saga kinda feels like abandoned. only gone up on website like 10 percent in progress in like a year. I almost think I could take the base game and reprogram it to the 'new tech' myself at this point. However, like Sad Crab's Innocent Witches progress is being made...slowly. Light of my life, took like 14 months for an update. This is one of the few games I'd be willing to pay for on steam release if it got one.

To me personally it looks like that the dev (and so many others, who abandoned their game) had no ending worked out for his project. They hit a wall in their story and to work around that wall, new characters with sidestories are implemented. When I notice new characters in games with nothing to add to the core of the story I become pessimistic regarding the future of these projects.
Just to make sure: No facts, just my personal opinion. ;)

Has the dev said anything or discord or anywhere else? The last time he went radiosilent for so long he was in the hospital. It makes me think that something serious has happened to him.

My two cent.
Dev finished ideas, in the last three years the story was always the same adding women.

There was essentially never a story in the game..

It is a straight forward "daddy fucks everyone" game. People (including I which I don't identified as people) love it because of the writing. Conversations and such.

The most likely candidate is something happened to him. What is the question, though.

When the no contact gets this far along, I just assume the dev is dead.

Made the same assumption with the dev of reluctant archon.
No one has heard of that guy again.

You'd think that if there was another reason then at some people someone would post something on behalf of the dev at least.

and before anyone complains, I'm not wishing anything bad on people, this is just what I assume from the abrupt non-contact and no updates ever.

Just how it be fr.

Either death, a severe injury, or they have kids out of nowhere.

All valid reasons for sudden abrupt non-contact/no updates ever.

Yea that is not a crazy assumption, especially considering the fact that the last time he disappeard was because he was in the hospital. So even if he is not dead, something very serious must have happened.
