Gotta question though. I read comments about drugging and feelin up women when they're sleeping. Is it optional? No offense, but that's creepy af.

The sleeping pills are not for the women and the feeling up while sleeping is optional.

and you need to show hidden files to see it

So much misinformation exist here about Ren'py and Unity. It is unbelievable.

You could educate them, rather than expressing disbelief. But you already know what he's saying (poorly). Ren'py was built for VNs expressly. Unity has a handful of VN development environments that all completely and utterly suck at producing an end product without comprehensively altering their results via coding.

Perhaps the best implementation of a sandbox style VN is Faerin's thing, which has gone though multiple re-writes just to get to the point where he's got something that is extremely nimble, yet still has saves in a phone interface with unlabeled up and down arrows, which highlights what may as well be an unavoidable pitfall with using Unity as a VN platform. Just having story, render and code dudes aren't even enough. You should probably have someone who knows UI design as well, as Ren'py Tom didn't make Unity, so it isn't ready from go for what has become a VN standard look and feel most people who plays these things want.

Hey everyone,

So with Midnight Paradise 0.2 release today to Elite tier, and 3 days later to everyone else, I have come to a decision based on a number of different things.
As you probably know, I've been going through some rough times lately and haven't been able to fully focus on creating the best game I possibly can for you.
About one and a half weeks ago I found my motivation again, just to be plunged back into chaos by the current state of the game.
I am dissatisfied.
There are many things that should be in place by now, and they are not. Some of it is my fault and some are the fault of my team members'.
Honestly, I feel like I'm being let down and in turn I feel like I'm letting you guys down.
And this doesn't feel right at all.
I also couldn't meet deadlines this year. I truly feel ashamed of this. If you've been following me since the start of DoD, you know I always delivered on time, even by the minute on most occasions.
Now I'm planning a smaller update content-wise in May, with all the core features that are needed for a polished game.
I feel like the 0.3 release in May will be what this release should be.
I also couldn't deliver a release in March. I really feel bad about these things and it's been eating at me for a while now.
Due to these reasons, I'm pausing my campaign for the next cycle, meaning none of the current Patrons will be charged on May 1st. Essentially it means you'll be getting the 0.3 release next month for free.
Please note though, I'm not taking a break. This isn't about that. I will still be working, harder than I've managed recently, and the 0.3 release is still coming in May.
However, I couldn't keep my promises to you lately and I feel like I don't deserve your hard-earned money until I set this straight.
You don't have to do anything with your pledges, no need to edit them, Patreon simply won't charge on the 1st and that's it.

Skipping on an entire month on patreon especially for a patreon as large as his, is no big deal. This is the sign i was looking for.

Time to turn this franchise around.

A broken game, with only a few renders in between? What did he do in those 6 months? Heck, he could have learned C++ in those 6 months and fired the coders. I don't want to compare, but DrPinkCake finished a whole game in almost the same time frame.

Anyway, I wish good luck to the dev but as things are right now, this game looks like a sinking ship. He should do as ICSTOR did with his previous games before milking Milfy City. Drop 2 or 3 more updates and start a new game (in Renpy, a platform the dev knows and has proven to be capable of delivering great things).

I could, but then I have to repeat myself after every third or fifth post, because someone else will repeat the same nonsense.

It is the same in every thread. People are to lazy to use the search function or to use google to search for some information by themselves. Instead they will ask the same question over and over in the thread, because it is more convenient for them.

I like to help people, if they need help, but in return I expect some afford as well.

Agree with you, it's the only good solution here. End this one quickly and start fresh with Renpy, preferably with a dedicated writer on-board. No matter how good update 4 ends up being, most new players will give up after 0.2.

6-7 months to get to this version. That's about 250,000 dollars. He definitely could have hired better coders and writers with that budget.

I mean he could have had another release in like 2 months and not pause Patreon. I don't think people realize how much it takes to pass on several thousands of dollars a month on sheer principle alone. I am telling you right now, i wouldn't be able to do it.

The game is pretty broken right now, with not much happening in it, the story barely even moved since part 1 and there wasn't even a story in part 1 to begin with. However this might be a wake up call that he needed. I think he needs to sit down and talk things through with his team, maybe even replace them if they are not up to the standards people expect them to be at this point.

I still prefer to stay optimistic then pessimistic in this situation. That's just my personal preference.
