Long time between end of DoD and first release of Midnight Paradise really built up big and unnecessary expectations from this game. Kind of expected flashed out first release with tons of content but got clumsy unity version without basic functions and subsequent emergency engine switch. I hope he delivers something great with two june updates and change our minds.

With a delay so the first release would be good enough. And then you play the second update and there is still fuck all.

Not like I expected anything else, DoD didnt have anything for several updates either. Im just hoping that the update is what was promised this time around tbh.

For 0.4 I am fully expecting a "Well you see, I had to delay 0.3 so I also had to delay 0.4 even tho I said I wouldnt have to"

No there isn't any music or sound effects. I remember asking the same question a while back. It hasn't been implemented yet. Hopefully we'll get all that with the Ren'Py release.

His numbers are rising despite not releasing anything good in almost a year, so that should tell you a little bit about patrons' mentality.

Not really. Last year in this month he had about almost 4700 patrons. Now he has 2300+ . And numbers keep falling

I never said that his numbers are dropping did i?, you can still have faith on a dev and be angry at the same time, basically what i said is that the only people who can complain or be angry at him are his patrons...even if they are not, i said that "they MUST be furious" i never said that they ARE furious, and that is a big difference

Yes, I'm aware of that. But I'm talking about after Dod was finished. His numbers haven't fallen that hard after Dec and he's made a lot of money by delivering almost nothing for over a year. That's the fucked up part in my opinion.

That just tells us that he's had a major dropoff since Dreams of Desire ended.

More intersting, I think, would be comparing April 1 to May 1 (to eliminate the usual monthly drop every creator has). Down 76. Not too bad. He's bleeding, but not like you think.

I don't think nothing about reasons i only gave the real dates in one year statistics , just because last post i replayed was completely inexact ; about reasons of this drop is Lewdlab and his staff to care about this , not for sure me ; i'm not enjoying if he loses or not triers ( exactly the contrary , i wish for him the best luck of this world )

No one is wishing him ill (At least not me). On the contrary, he's a great dev but that doesn't mean he should be paid for not delivering anything good for over a year. Try and tell your boss that you should be paid a salary and not work for an entire year, let's see how that goes?

Well, here is the difference: You do not buy a product or a service from him. You support him in doing something. Basically you can support him in doing nothing as some patrons do for devs who have abandon their game(s) or haven't release anything in a year.

Which means: Supporting is not buying! And therefore Patrons do not have the "right" to return an update and get their money back.

Excuse me? He is literally selling the access to his game "Midnight Paradise". Unless you pirate it, the only way to play it is to "support" him with money.

Well, that's the thing with crowd funding in general. You spend money towards a project but unlike a purchase there's nothing owed from a contractual point of view. There are certain pledges in case something DOES come from the project (e.g. like having the name of the sponsors mentioned or early access) but if thing's go pear shaped you have no recourse.

So if you ever decide to spend money on Patreon, IndieGogo or Kickstarter you should keep in mind that there's a very real chance of that money simply being "lost". It's not a purchase. Nothing is being sold.

I don't like the concept in general but for many more niche products (and special interest porn games seem to fall into that category) it's just not viable to finance the required time upfront and try to make it up through sales. So here we are. However some people finance really stupid stuff (one guy was looking for financing to make a potatoe salad which got overfunded by I don't remember how much).
