ICSTOR was and probably still is well known for this.Well shit, personally I don't mind NTR. Doesn't bother me. But the long wait for this update, feels really lackluster. I get that they were working on DoD last year but even so getting an update for MP after so long for it to be a bit with the sister. I think the majority of people want more development with the mother but for some reason the Dev refuses to do so. It's almost as if they're stringing everyone along because they know as soon as we get mother scenes, no one will be interested in the game. Which currently isn't the case but if the updates are like this in the future then it might be the case in the future. But I can't complain I suppose since I'm no longer a patron. See you all next year for the next update.![]()
It's become commonplace that the following formula is how a FUCK TON of devs operate:
Work hard, have a regular real-life job/savings, or be a NEET - dedicating a ton of their free time to making a game, often a bit of passion behind it, take on criticisms, and despite pushing themselves updates come out and they grow, earning more money on Patreon.
Eventually, the income is sustainable to live off of and they quit their day job(s). From here you'll see huge updates or/and small but frequent updates...
Then when they get comfortable and see they have monthly income, they slow down, lose passion and just throw a ton of time into games, self-enjoyment and the project begins to die.
The second thing to this is that the ones that don't do this go on 1 of 2 other paths:
1. They keep grinding and become extremely high earners, often putting out big updates and thus earning even more money - this is the path all should have been on since they made it their main source of income.
2. They try to stop piracy and the game development halts because of it, the biggest example of this is Boner Games (School of Lust devs), they'd in my opinion be one of the biggest game devs for these types of games if not for the fact that they invested literal YEARS into trying to stop piracy. The game came around and has more in it now I guess, but years pooled into anti-piracy when to be fair Summertime Saga earns like 80k a month and releases for free 3 days to a week after it drops for Patrons, IS INSANE.
But yeah you're pretty right in assuming the dev is likely stringing it along.
Often there are devs that make one likable character and a few meh ones, they then have to give that likable character slower development out of fear that their project will lose funding once key interest dies. The issue here is, it's your job as a dev to make a cast that appeals to 70%. E.g. you like 7/10 girls, I like 7/10 and we may not necessarily like the same 7, while others may overlap?
