Thats because there are adult games (most sandbox games) and adult visual novels. Some times you get sandbox / adult visual novel mix, which never really works at all except for the odd rare occasions it does, but they are extremely rare and not to my liking, because I like reading. It doesn't help when developers even call their adult visual novels (emphasis on novel's') games when they are not. It's like taking a regular paperback novel and then calling it a game, obviously it's not and no one would suggest otherwise the same applies to adult visual novels not being games, they are adult stories with visual images, videos etc. I am not calling you out on this or anything, just trying make it clear what adult games and adult novels are. people constantly get the two mixed up, and what irks me sometimes is when people complain they have to read the adult visual novel they throught was a game isn't.
