I recommend simply turning off the minigames. It's an option in the settings menu.

Well to put this game's developmental speed into perspective, one of my boys was in like 2nd or 3rd grade when this game was created IIRC, and that very same kid is about to graduate high school and go to college. If that helps answer your question lol
