Steam I think now has the ability to provide game keys to protect against your game being illegally shared.
I'm not sure how you wouldn't be aware of this, because you're pretty tech savy. If you wanted to bring someone on board to help set this up for you, I would be up for that if you were willing.

That's true, this is a game men would like and like the alt right says, men should only be jerking off to onlyfans models or dating anime picture simulators. Still, even with that truth, dlsite has drm and key gen capabilities. You aren't so goy that you would be restricted from that.
Did people forget this is a piracy forum? Shooting yourself in the foot to try and garner sympathy from thieves is just stupid and I have no sympathy for this dev pretending piracy from a suspicious account created specifically to post that one link minutes after the build released is the reason he stopped working on the game and then instantly revealing it was because he was burnt out inadvertently.

There was once peaceful coexistence here, just as I wouldn’t be angry at DocRipper for sharing my files.
Someone maliciously destroyed everything.
On the surface, this appears to be an issue of piracy, but in reality, it’s not about piracy at all.
No one has the right to demand that others endure malice.
What's done is done.
Now, I’d rather this place fall silent.
Especially knowing that this is clearly a conclusion drawn with only a partial understanding of the event.

No one is obligated to wait 3 weeks before posting a build of your game, if you want to stop working on your game because you're tired of putting in the minimum effort for your game that should have been fully completed years ago that's fine but don't pretend you were losing money because of "someone" posting a build minutes after it releases with how long it took to get bare minimum updates.

This is a bit unfair.Nonsense? Yes, the game could have been finished long ago. But do you want another 100% Unity asset-flip and generic VR chat models, shit maps, sounds and music from free libraries (no more Easy Lemon from Kevin MacLeod
).The problem is that a lot of things weren't explained well enough, DD was too attached to Patreon and attempts at change the situation came too late. It was also too ambitious for a single developer to try to have everything in-house made. It was naive to expect people appreciate quality just like that. It's hard to do it without some dirty marketing.
Extreme trolling here after the OP's update didn't help much either.
And that's probably what DD is referring to, the point where it broke him and he lost the will to continue... But maybe that's not the case. Just thinking out loud.
