Wouldn't that playtime reinforce his viewpoint? It doesn't seem like he's passing the blame around, it looks like he's expressing his disappointment that the story ultimately fell short of his expectations. The entirety of Paradox is a massive time-sink, no one on this forum is going to take a review from anyone with less than probably a hundred hours seriously, because you can't actually complete all three parts and review it at a level that people would be satisfied with because you likely haven't seen all there is to see up to that point. The only cost that can be sunk is time but they themselves said they willing dumped 200+ hours into a game they weren’t enjoying. Sounds more like they are trying to blame anything but themselves.
And lots of people had expectations for a story that pays off the expectations set by Parts 1 and 2. By that point, it wouldn't surprise me if the average number of hours played by most people exceeded a hundred before going into Part 3. 200+ hours aren't just automatically wasted as they are being accumulated over the course of the gameplay, they are wasted when what the player hopes for in terms of a pay off by the conclusion doesn't satisfy them. Part 3 could have just as easily made those 200 hours worth it were the writing different, but how that turns out is going to be different for each person.
