i see the posts about trojans and i see the posts about false positives...
i played this over a day ago and just an hour ago, after being online for nearly 8hrs, i got two almost back to back warnings from windows defender, both severe. one was a trojan warning and the second was an unwanted app attempting to install.
both traced back to this games' files. i have had several false positives on this site before but always during playing the games, never so long afterwards. personally i wont take any further risk and have already removed all files for this. after all, it IS me who has to pay to replace this pc if i take anyone else's advice and just let it be and it all goes pete tong
Yeah, still false positives
. Windows Defender is
infamously moronic about indie games, especially about custom made icons integrated into executables. And now it became even worse about the new 64-bit Ren'Py version having an included 32-bit executable for compatibility.
Not that many devs have managed to update their games to the new version of Ren'Py yet, so this game may be the first one for you, but for certainly not the first one on this forum. Pretty much every game thread with an updated Ren'Py engine based game has been hit with the same kind of accusations recently because of the Windows Defender false detecions.
While Windows Defender may not be the worst "free"* antivirus any more, it's still the worst about all the false positives. Well, Jiangmin probably is still even worse I guess, but I doubt anyone actually uses it anywhere but in China.
When in doubt, use

to get a general idea about how much of a false a particular malware positive detection is. Just upload the file your WD went nuts about to the VirusTotal and look at the results.
It's likely that someone else already did upload the same file, so the results may be instant.
If the last test was performed a while back, then you can get fresh results by re-scanning the file and it will take a while, depending on the current load on the system. So don't go nuts with it. "A while" should be days, otherwise you'll just get the same results again anyway.
