Ah now that makes sens ty for the extra clarification will say it looked good as well hope we see some more of her like thatSaira changes a lot depending on her hairstyle. It's the first time she uses that one.
Speaking of season 1: I recently replayed it. I know it's an alternate universe, We've talked about your fictional towns of Newport and Westport, yada yada yada. But where my willing suspension of disbelief digs in it's heels and becomes ulitimately intransigent is this:Some nerdy numbers.
I was talking with a player on Discord right now and made some average calculations:
Season 1 average per update (17 updates): 18.350 words and 1,158 renders (562 animated).
Season 2 average per update (8 updates): 26,476 words and 4,609 renders (3,004 animated).
Season 3 average per update (until 0.25, 5 updates): 27,883 words and 12,179 renders (10,432 animated).
I don't know if this is interesting to anyone, but you know I'm a nerd.
As explained in this post, Californians who were in the educative system from 1999 onwards (and Martha was 16 in 1999) use metric. You won't see other Americans in the game using metric, but the core family (Martha's age downward), Scarlett, Alexia, Maddie, and the Washingtons will do. Non-Americans include Saira, Amanda, Eva, and Kalyani in the future.Speaking of season 1: I recently replayed it. Americans using metric measurements in casual conversation???? Never happen. That line should read as: "...and you have returned missing 22.0462* or 33.063* pounds."
We use imperial units here!!!!
Now granted 20-30 lbs on a man of MC's height wouldn't be that terribly noticeable either. It might make him slightly chubby but not "fat" I could see more of a loss of 50-70 lbs.
*exact conversions of kilograms to pounds kept solely for comedic effect.
There are great games in this forum. I could recommendI don't know what to say. Today I started three games that I had downloaded and was waiting to play. All three bored me within half an hour. This game is ruining the whole forum for me. And I ended up spending the last few hours of the day replaying this game.
AL has the same initials as another VN that I can't recommend to anyone despite the fact I consider it good. There are great games in this forum. I could recommenda couple of them...one of them I finished (I wouldn't recommend AL to anyone, even if it's great).
I guess other players who like My Dorm could recommend other games that can be enjoyable. But it would be better to do it in the off-topic thread

The title has something to do with "Taking classes to become an actor" but in two words. That's why I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I consider it good because the dev made me feel what he wanted me to feel, but it spent months without being opened after THE CHOICE.AL has the same initials as another VN that I can't recommend to anyone despite the fact I consider it good.
I will say that AVNs like My Dorm make me a lot less willing to just put up with things out of boredom. Back when I first got into the genre, I didn't know what was going to be good vs not so I put up with a lot of shit looking for diamonds. Now I'm way pickier about what I spend my time on.
I don't mind my AVNs with a side of emotional trauma (within reason) but I'm definitely not into bittersweet or depressing endings. The title has something to do with "Taking classes to become an actor" but in two words. I won't ever recommend it, but it's a masterpiece in its genre. A genre I don't enjoy.
As My Dorm has shown, I'm more into happy endings.
And I thank you for that, there's nothing like a happy ending and a love story between the character. I admit I'm a sicko pervert who like cuddles and romance. As My Dorm has shown, I'm more into happy endings.
I prefer to show traumas like Eva's or Amanda's and have a supportive MC who helps them overcome them.I don't mind my AVNs with a side of emotional trauma (within reason) but I'm definitely not into bittersweet or depressing endings.
Played one where you move in with a friend of your parents' and her 2 girls and the first time you take a shower all 3 of them are pepping on YOU.creepy/rapist MCs are the worst
I agree, but making a game is hard. People don't want fuckfests but if the dev doesn't show a boob, people will make bad reviews saying "no content", "slow burn", "snooze fest", etc. And it's hard for a game to recover from the first five reviews with 1-2 stars. A lot of people will see the score (and don't read the reviews) and pass on the game.I'm with you guys on this. So many of the games here have stuff that puts me off. I'm not 100% with everything FG was saying, as I don't mind a bit of (mild) domination or (consensual) spanking (think like Cozy Cafe). The rest though? yeah, creepy/rapist MCs are the worst, or MCs that are otherwise fine but "have to" peep on someone changing in the first release just to fulfil a quota for a lewd scene.
Give me the weirdly wholesome stories, like this one or MNF/M, or at least give me an MC that doesn't act like a 14 year old who's never seen a boob before.
I only recently (for me) started with MD, the last update being the second or third since I started playing, and I'm already on my fifth or sixth replay.
So yeah, good work so far Trope. I hope this game continues for a long time and I look forward to whatever you do afterwards.
In My Dorm's first release, Daphne, Emma, Scarlett, Erika, Norah, and Martha peeped on the MC at some point (and Saira and Eileen, the other introduced girls, had lewd scenes)Played one where you move in with a friend of your parents' and her 2 girls and the first time you take a shower all 3 of them are pepping on YOU.![]()
Yeah I'm 100 with you I prefer story who take time and dev who don't think about income since the first release. I discover an AVN this week (it's about a dynasty in wrestling) in 2 update we have like 100k word without real H-scene and it's really good. In my opinion and maybe I'm naive but if your game is good and you do your game for the good reason it will work in time.I agree, but making a game is hard. To me, there are other ways to fulfill the quota. I tried to do it in the first release with Saira, Emma, Emma+Daphne+Scarlett, and Norah. It didn't work for me with Saira, but it worked for a lot of players, since she became a player favorite. I would do things differently today with her if I started the game once again.
But, of course, My Dorm's first release was almost 26,000 words long (more than some completed short games). I wasn't in a hurry to release it and start earning money (I didn't think I would earn anything with the first few releases) and I took a bit over six months to develop that first release. I was ultra-happy with it, until I re-read/re-played it some months ago. A facepalm after facepalm experience. But it served me to (start) learn(ing). And My Dorm wouldn't be what it is without that first release.
I've seen some games' first release with 90 renders and 2,000 words. And the devs (think they) need to show something in so little space and time. That's when you get the creepy MC, because they can't find a way to show a nude girl without the MC spying on her. And they think they won't earn money without it. And it's a cliché, so it should work, right? What those devs don't understand (and I'm not blaming them) is that you can't get into the development world thinking you will become a millionaire or earn a living after three updates. You're bound to be frustrated if you think that.
It doesn't have to be sexy time, but I can only spare so much time for a story to set the hook one way or another or else I'll move on. :shrug:Yeah I'm 100 with you I prefer story who take time and dev who don't think about income since the first release. Sure the writing must be good but like I said previously I'm into romance so if during this time the relationship are well build I can wait to see some hot scene. It doesn't have to be sexy time, but I can only spare so much time for a story to set the hook one way or another or else I'll move on.
