Don't think it's a "windows quirk" ...
Nope, I actually created the file from the right click menu while in file explorer. I made the mistake of naming the file patch.txt while file type was set to .txt. The quirk is that "show extensions" is enabled, so it should have shown me the full file name and thus i'd have seen in file explorer that it was actually patch.txt.txt. For some reason it didn't in this instance. I noticed when I opened the file to make sure it was empty, as it should be, and while in notepad the full file name was shown.

Yes have a drink and enjoy it with a nice slice of pizza

This reminds me: I was wondering whether the kiwi pizza comment in Season 2 (sometime just before the DnD game I think) arose from someone posting a cursed image here, or if it was an entirely independent kind of thing.

I know there have been discussions and postings of disgusting pizza toppings, including a kiwi, both here and in several other threads on this site, though they may be difficult to find since many have been nuked by the overzealous hovering about waiting to squash any conversation a hair off of the central topic.

Speaking of which, I don't think I've ever seen a pizza with squash or zucchini - those might actually work on a vegetarian pie...

and save there, just for safety can also have save few cgs before that. that usually works for updates with most games and you dont have to load old version to find save that works.
It works with updates that are within the same season, but not always when you close a season off and move on to a new one because the old game file has gotten bloated.

I'm assuming it CAN work just that way, but I've already played from Season 1 to Season 2 here and it DIDN'T work that way, and it hasn't worked that way for any other VN that did the "season" thing. Of course, I think a lot of those VNs moved to an updated RenPy engine as well, so the compatibility wasn't always 100%. If that isn't the case here, and the script tells it to look for something with the Season 2 naming convention, it ought to work just fine. Guess I'll find out when I upload and try to open.

Yeah pineapple pizza is in a few threads liked and hated.

I have had veg pizza with zucchini on it but none with squash, small zucchini was used sliced thin and put down like pepperoni the other vegs put on top. The one I tried also had mushroom, onion, tomato, orange peppers the cheese was mix of pepper jack and mozz put down 1st with the sauce put over cheese. It was good.

National Pineapple Pizza Day is August 20th

Speaking as a vegetarian...

Although (full-disclosure) I do currently hold the Guinness record as the World's Fattest Vegetarian and I avoid too many vegetables if I possible can. Sue me - I like my cheeses and starches. I only accepted onions occasionally on pizza when my adult son shamed me into it. But at least onions have good flavor. Has anyone? anywhere? ever? said that about squash or zucchini?? Now, if you told me that baking either of them starts some sort of drying & delicious carmelizing/sweetening process (I would believe it with some squashes) you will have officially piqued my interest...

I'd slice them thin with a mandolin and do just that. I will always be down for mushrooms, and I've had roast garlic, spinach and artichoke hearts as well. Those all work great when handled correctly.

I guess I must mark August 20th as a day to disavow for all eternity.

You sound less like a vegetarian and more like a cannibalistic potato-head. :ROFLMAO:

As I noted above, I'd slice very thin and the way I usually roast squash/zucchini is in rounds, seasoned with salt, pepper and a mix of herbs which changes with my mood. I'll often sprinkle with Parmesan and hit with the broiler at the end - this gives a bit of caramelization and crispness and, well, CHEESE! If you throw garlic and thinly sliced onion rounds on as well, you get those flavors blending in with the squash as it roasts.

I'm guessing you've just never had vegetables prepared by someone that knows what they're doing. ;)

Don't think it's a "windows quirk" despite my deep and abiding love of blaming all manner of things on Microsoft and their accursed OS. Usually this just happens when a user (like me many a time) left-clicks a link to an attached .rpy file named "anything.txt" and then chooses SaveAs while viewing the text contents of the file displayed as text in the browser. Better practice is to always hover over links to attached files to first determine the file type before clicking, and right-clicking and choosing SaveLinkAs for any file types that your browser will open by default instead of starting a DL (like .txt, .rpy, etc.). Or simply change your default browser action for .txt and .rpy extensions to DL or to at least prompt you by asking each time.

(Assuming the patch file was DL-ed from another site because here on F95 the link is to a "patch.rpy" file inside an archive,)
To be fair, if your Win-PC is set to hide extensions, and you tell windows to create a new text file, then NAME the text file "patch.txt" that can happen without you realizing it. And since he said "adding the empty patch.txt file" makes me think someone (maybe someone I can't see) told him to add the file, which they then manually created, rather than downloading. So it is possible to make that mistake without realizing what you did, and without all those other steps.

(and I'm 1-2 pages behind the conversation, so I might be digging up already buried dogs ... but I'm too tired to find out)

Yes, problem solved already.
