What's going on with the Steam release of this game? Season 1(which was been finished eons ago) has been listed as "coming soon" since forever and a day, and season 2(also long since finished) isn't even listed on Steam. What's going on with that? Just release it already...damn.
A while ago, Trope95 said he was preparing the replay section for chapter 1. This is probably it.

Season 1 was re-written in the framework of season 2 and up. On top of that Trope had to make some extra changes (some lines where not properly translated). With that, testing etc the Steam release of season 1 is expected to be somewhere around August

Also I am going through the whole script for season 1. It's a bit long since it's the whole season.
If F95 has taught me anything is that this site attracts the most selfish, entitlement. However I've also see alot of passionate people who just love VN and helping when they can, you are one of them and for that I salute you good sir.

Thank you. Trop is the first dev I started working with for proofreading, about 3 years ago now. But nowadays I work with about 11 devs, doing proofreading, editing, testing, some minor graphics work and mod/admin a handful of servers.

Well, I don't understand these authors who work for years on a story and then throw it down the toilet, clearly wanting to get rid of it. Please, Trope95 , don't fall into the same trap. Rather abandon it, but don't ruin it.
Stories evolve in our hands. What we thought was a good thing for the end of the story (if we even had the thought ending) perhaps doesn't make sense anymore, and what we can "invent" to replace it isn't as good as our original ending.

That's why I recommend new developers who ask for advice: Write the ending before writing the first lines of dialogue. Not in depth. With enough flexibility to add or remove small things. But have a defined goal. It will be easier to fill every update with meaningful scenes, aiming for that finish line.

As txe320 says, tiredness also plays a role (if you don't have that goal). Tiredness, frustration, thinking the story can't go beyond a point or that the dev wrote their best scene ever and can't surpass it, leaks, not achieving their economic goals (and thinking that a new game will allow them to)... There are multiple reasons to want to abandon a game or to rush its end.

Don't worry, Trope isn't like that and IF he abandon My Dorm, that would be because he would have a pretty fucking good reason to do it (like, becoming the President of Harem Land) :BootyTime: .
Since Harem Land is a monarchy, to prevent some stupid convict from coming to power, I won't get the job. ;)
The only reason to abandon the game is that I'm inside a pine box and there isn't wi-fi in hell.

"Forever and a day" is since February.
"Eons ago" is less than 2 years.
"Long since finished" is less than a year.

Once that has been clarified, I will explain the process of My Dorm's Steam release to you:
Season 1 and Season 2/3/X use different interface, variable management, translation system, etc.
So Season 1 has been reworked in depth to adapt it to the new interface (and everything that entails). A gallery has been added. More than 3,000 renders were re-rendered. Some animations have been replaced. 57 achievements were added, coded, and rendered.

All this while continuing to publish updates with new content within a reasonable time frame for more than a year and a half (the duration of Season 2 and part of Season 3).

Once everything was done, it was sent to Steam for their approval.
Waiting time. Crossing fingers.
They approved it in February (and asked for additional changes).
Then the whole script for Season 1 (883-page Word file, 311,950 words) needed to be re-proofread by a single volunteer person, who also proofreads the regular updates, which he gives priority (more than 100,000 words since February), and also proofreads for other devs.
The initial expected date of release was in June. It wasn't finished. I moved it to August. I hope I don't need to move it again.

About Season 2. It's hard to release Season 2 if Season 1 hasn't been released. Season 2 will need a lot less work. it's already in the new interface, it has already the gallery, and it has already been proofread by the official proofreader.
Once Season 1 has been out for a while, I will start working on Season 2 release IF Season 1 sales justify it. If I sell 10 Season 1 copies on Steam, there won't be Season 2 on Steam. I still haven't done the math to know how many Season 1 copies I need to sell to justify the effort and the time invested.

Your welcome, My Dorm as in the game itself isn't the only reason I'm staying in the MeeMaw tier for as long as I can. The $81.32 I pay a month is so Trope can hire the best like you, and again I salute you good sir.

If you insert almost-impossible/very annoying achievements for every season expect tons of pro players going in only for their perverse pleasure in platinuming them all :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I remember him saying he plans to make an Achievement for playing the celibacy route so I would file that under almost-impossible/very annoying achievements because how can anyone say No to all of them. :ROFLMAO:

If anyone can get the "Like a monk (Season 1)" achievement (rejecting every girl), they deserve my respect for their strong will. Rejecting Martha, Emma, Erika, Norah, Daphne, Scarlett, Eileen, Samantha, Simone, Alexia, Maddie, and Megan in the same playthrough deserves an achievement (and a box of Kleenex).

I mean there is a few in there that isn't in my harem but for the most part, I would have to punch someone if Erika isn't there. I mean if Task Force 141 was real I would get them guys to pay them a visit because they be acting sketchy.
